The Lamar School Board unanimously approved the employment of Jackson Guerra as head high school football coach during a special meeting Wednesday, April 15.
Guerra has served as defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach at Dardanelle High School, where he helped lead the Sand Lizards to a back-to-back conference championships and a 14-1 season in 2025, during which the team finished as 4A state runner-up.
“Coach Guerra comes to Lamar with a strong background in building winning programs and developing student-athletes at both the high school and collegiate levels,” the district said in a statement. “He has been a part of highly successful programs…Coach Guerra has worked across multiple position groups, coordinated defenses, and led strength and conditioning programs — bringing a well-rounded, hands-on approach to building a complete football program.”
Guerra has also served as an assistant coach for Russellville High School and Ouachita Baptist University, where he contributed to a 21-4 record, two conference championships, and two national playoff appearances.
Guerra replaces Josh Jones, who resigned after 14 seasons as head coach of the Warriors to take a position at Dover.
Board member Johnessa Boze was absent from Wednesday’s meeting, while Amiee Freeman, Billy Joe Wilkins, Clint Ratliff and Chad Kendall were in attendance.
