Lamar School Board Approves Bond Resolution For Future Athletic Facilities Projects
by Stephanie Baker
The Lamar School Board met in regular session, on Wednesday, April 8, and approved a bond resolution to fund projects for the district’s athletic facilities.
Superintendent Dr. Clint Jones did not provide specifics on which athletic facilities may receive updates or about any planned projects.
Using existing revenue for athletic projects is the “first step” of project planning, said Jones. The second lien bonds process will allow the district to use funding without additional taxes on residents, he explained.
The Board approved a bond resolution authorizing Stephens Inc., as municipal advisor for the district, to file an application with the State Board of Education to issue second lien bonds in the estimated amount of $2,595,000 for the purpose of constructing and equipping new school facilities and making additions and improvements to existing facilities.
Any remaining funds will be used for other construction, renovations, and equipment purchases.
