Gary Knoernschild

Rev. Gary Knoernschild of Kelowna, AB, formerly of Lutherville, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004.

He was a 1950 graduate of Lamar High School, pastor for 39 years, and was preceded in death by infant twin sons, Brian and Brett Knoernschild in 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Knoernschild; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Keith Reisdord and Janet and Gary Brucker; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Iona Knoernschild of Missouri, Al and Sandy Knoernschild of Indiana, Richard and Beverly Knoernschild and Leo and Sharon Knoernschild, all of Lutherville, David and Christine Knoernschild of Tennessee and Melvin and Sandy Knoernschild of Arkansas; one sister, Ruby Stroup of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Hannah, Madeline and Ava Reisdord and Erin, Natalie and Claire Brucker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 10, at First Lutheran Church in Kelowna, AB. Burial was on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Medicine Hat, AB.

Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Christian School, First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or Lutheran Hour Ministries.

Myrtle N. Armstrong

Myrtle Nowotny Armstrong, age 83, of Gentry, AR, formerly of Clarksville, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born to her parents, Tom Jefferson and Chloe Boen Nowotny December 2, 1920, at Stone Hill, Arkansas. She was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker, and she loved to cook for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years John Armstrong of Gentry, AR; one son, George T. Severn and wife, Carolyn, of Gentry, AR; three daughters, Winnie Pipkins of Decatur, AR, Mary L. Williams of Greenwood, AR, and Anna Hays of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Billy Joe Nowotny of Clarksville, AR; three sisters, Mary Mae Williams of Knoxville, AR, Betty Hayes of Russellville, AR, and Patricia Smith of Pocola, OK; eight grandchildren, Glenn and Jimmy Severn, Mike Storment, Tonya Lavender, Richard Hose, Angela Jones, Shayne Nichols, Penny McKendry; 11 great-grandchildren, Wes Storment, Taylor Jones, Jacob Hose, Trey Nichols, Jake Nichols, Donna and Emily Lavender, Avery, Eric and Trevor McKendry; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandmother, Josephine Nowotny, and one aunt, Mary Talley.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2004, at the Roller-Cox Funeral Home with the Reverend Amos Pledger officiating. Burial followed in Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, AR. Visitation was from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2004, at the Funeral Home. 

Martha B. Willis

Martha Beard Willis, 81, of Clarksville died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.

She was a native of Lonoke, daughter of the late Routh A. and Sallie L. Beard, widow of James P. Willis, former resident of Pine Bluff prior to moving to Clarksville in 2001, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville and Pine Bluff.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Sutterfield of Clarksville and Cynthia McGrew of Fort Smith; one son, Michael B. Willis of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Charles Settle officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors of Pine Bluff.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
