Lamar High School football coach Josh Jones announced on Friday, April 3, he will resign at the end of the school year to take the head coaching position at Dover High School.
Jones, who holds a career record of 155-91, has been the head football coach at Lamar for 14 years. Under his leadership, the Warriors recorded 105 wins and made 12 state playoff appearances. He previously held the head coaching position at Magazine, where he led the Rattlers to a state championship in 2010.
“I’m truly thankful for the 14 years that I’ve had the privilege of being the head football coach at Lamar,’ Jones said. “I’ve poured my life into the football program and am really proud to have had so many great young men play for me. Thank you to all the supportive parents along the way. I have made so many lifelong friendships. I want my Lamar players to know that I love them, and they will always be my kids.”
