OHS Cheer Team Places In National Championships

The Ozark High School cheer team competed at the Universal Cheerleaders Association National High School Cheer Championships in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 30-Feb. 1, placing sixth out of 21 teams in the Super NT Game Day Division. The team won the 2025 4A Game Day Cheer Arkansas State Championship in December, the fourth consecutive state title for Ozark, and the first four-peat in Arkansas Game Day Cheer history. The senior members of the team are the first group to ever win four consecutive game day titles and have been in the top 10 at nationals all four years of competition. “Not many teams broke a score of 90 at nationals this year, but they did it,” OHS Cheer Coach Jana McCain said. “The girls on this team from ninth-12th grades have never not won a state competition, and for that we are super proud of their accomplishments.” Members include (front row, from left) Kaya Sharitt, senior; Keily Cagle, junior; Ryleigh Battles, Kennedy Tedford, Maya Brickley, Halo West, Hadlee Simpson, and Kadynce Williams, seniors; Sara Abulawi, Braelyn Williams and Keirstyn Jackson, juniors; (back row) Coach Jana McCain, Coach Payton McCain, Katelyn Escalante, freshman; Addie Hall, MaKynnah Krebs, Ivy Brasseaux, Sophia Ridenour, and Addi Snow, sophomores; Gracie Roberson and Cambryn Capp, freshmen; Ashlyn Holt, sophomore; Tayvee White, Gracie Wickizer and Lillian James, freshmen; Autumn Howe, sophomore; Peyton Ray, freshman; and Coach Amanda Rogers.
