Lady Warriors Are Regional Champions; Allow Just One Run From Three Tournament Opponents

The Lamar Lady Warriors dominated in three games as they took the 3A-1 Regional Tournament championship at Greenland last week.
The Lady Warriors defeated Lincoln, Lavaca and Booneville, allowing just one run over all three games, to win the tournament. They will face Smackover in the first round of the 3A State Tournament in Harrison later this week.
Lincoln
Lamar won big over the Lincoln Lady Wolves in a 15-0 shutout on Thursday, May 7.
The Lady Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Mayci Hilton homered, scoring two runs, and Tenley Hardin tripled, scoring one run.
Lamar scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Avery Phillips singled to score one run, and Mylee Parker tripled, driving in two more. A single by Addie Hardin scored a run, and Hardin scored after tagging up.
The Lady Warriors scored seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning. Phillips and Newt Melton both doubled, each scoring one run, and Parker followed with a triple that drove in another run. A double from Hilton scored one run, then Nevaeh Danver singled, scoring two more. A Lincoln error allowed Lamar to score one run.
Parker earned the win for Lamar. She gave up no hits or runs over three innings, striking out eight and allowing no walks.
Lamar tallied 13 hits in the game.
Phillips, Danver, Hilton, Parker, and Shae Shook each collected two hits. Hilton and Parker were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in three runs.
Melton, Addie Hardin and Tenley Hardin each had one hit. Tenley Hardin and Danver each finished with two RBIs, while Melton, Phillips and Shayleigh Palmer had one each.
Addie Hardin, Hilton, Parker, Melton and Shook each stole one base.
Lavaca
Parker struck out 14 batters as the starter led Lamar past the Lavaca Lady Golden Arrows 6-0 on Friday, May 8.
Parker allowed four hits and no runs over six and two-thirds innings while walking none.
The Lady Warriors were the first to get on the board in the opening inning when Hilton doubled, scoring two runs. They added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Danver singled up the middle, and Palmer flew out, each scoring a run.
Lamar scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and one in the fifth while preventing the Lady Golden Arrows from crossing the plate.
The Lady Warriors accumulated 11 hits in the game.
Melton went two-for-three with a triple and scored two runs. Hilton had two hits, including a double and a triple, in four at-bats, scored one run and drove in two. Phillips recorded two hits in three at-bats and finished with one RBI.
Parker, Addie Hardin, Danver, Palmer and Shook each finished with one hit, and Hardin, Danver and Palmer also drove in one run each. Addie Hardin, Hilton and Danver each swiped one base.
Booneville
In the championship game on Saturday, May 9, the Lady Warriors defeated the Booneville Lady Bearcats 6-1.
Lamar opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. Hilton opened the scoring with an RBI single, and singles by Addie Hardin and Palmer each scored one run.
The Lady Warriors extended the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, both RBI singles by Parker and Addie Hardin.
Booneville scored a run in the fourth inning, and Lamar tacked on another in the bottom of the fifth when Shook grounded into a fielder’s choice and Danver scored on an error by the Booneville pitcher.
Parker collected three hits in four at-bats and drove in one run. Melton went three-for-three on the day with a double.
Hilton, Addie Hardin and Danver each recorded two hits, with Hilton and Hardin each driving in a run. Palmer and Phillips each went one-for-three at the plate. Phillips scored a run and Palmer had one RBI.
Parker and Danver each stole one base.
Parker struck out 10 batters on the day as she allowed five hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings while walking none.
