SCHOOL BOARD COVERAGE – OZARK- SUBSCRIBER EXCLUSIVE

The Ozark School Board met in regular session on June 16 and Superintendent Zane Vanderpool announced the Ozark School District ABC Program has been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas for overall high quality.
This is the first year the OEP expanded these awards to Early Childhood Education (ECE) settings.
The ABC program received the Pre-K OEP statewide ECE quality award and OEP regional ECE quality award.
Other Matters
–Superintendent Zane Vanderpool announced teachers are due in their classrooms on Aug. 3.
–The operating budget for May was $4,858,024.04.
–Transfers were approved for nine students to Ozark and five to other school districts.
–Buildings floors are being refinished.
–The property behind the kindergarten building is being cleared and the new driveway will be ready for the beginning of the 2026-27 school year.
–Board members approved the Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus Method Of Understanding for concurrent enrollment courses with the addition of classes for Patient Care Technicians or PCT.
Personnel
Resignations were accepted from Elly Hopper, fifth grade science; and Stefan Lyons, eight grade science.
Employed were Jessica Crubaugh, OPS special education paraprofessional; and Jackson Ross, cook/custodian. Ross will serve as a cook during school hours and as a custodian after hours.
Board members present were Ryan Battles, Rick Cline, David Kendrick and Caren Nichols, while Garrett Shepherd was absent.
