Area Track Teams Compete In Dardanelle Meet

High school track athletes from Ozark, Clarksville and Lamar competed in the Senior Sand Lizard Relays at Dardanelle on Thursday, April 9.
In the boys division, Jake Reames of Lamar took first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.03, finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29 and second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.72.
Liam Kile of Ozark clocked an 11:13.59 for first place in the 3,200-meter run, and Guillermo Perez of Clarksville placed second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:57.38.
Ozark’s 4×100-meter relay team of Jaxon Sontchi, Blaze Mayer, Deacon Gage and Xander Johnson took second place with a finish of 45.44.
In team standings, the Ozark boys placed fourth.
Top finishers in the girls division included Phoenix Sanders of Lamar, who won the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.92 and the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.86. Lamar’s Alexis Lara won the shot put with a throw of 28’9”.
The 4×200-meter relay team from Ozark, consisting of Brooklyn Akers, Laci Stegeman, Makiah Jones and Ruby Whitlock, took second place with a time of 2:03.70. Akers also placed second in the pole vault with a vault of 6’.
As a team, the Lamar girls took fourth place and the Ozark girls finished fifth.
