The Lamar High School EAST program recently received the Founder’s Award at the annual EAST state conference.
LHS received the award for projects students completed this school year, which included remapping the Red Lick Mountain bike trail, designing a dog park expansion of Cabin Creek Park, and creating shade structures for the Little Rock Zoo.
The Founder’s Award is presented to three programs, out of over 240 statewide, for displaying mastery in all three cornerstones of their program: community and collaboration, sophistication and innovation, and growth and engagement. To be considered for the Founder’s Award, the LHS program submitted a 10-minute video outlining its projects and how they fulfilled the EAST cornerstones. This year, 38 schools applied for the award.
Lamar will hold EAST Night Out on Tuesday, May 5 from 5-7 p.m. in the LHS cafeteria. The event is open to the community and will allow EAST students to showcase their work and community projects.
