Lady Warrior Bowlers Are Third In State; Boys Team Places 6th

The Lamar High School girls and boys bowling teams competed in the 3A State Tournament at Jonesboro on Thursday, Feb. 12, with the Lady Warriors placing third and the Warriors finishing in sixth place.
Bella Edrington led the Lamar girls with a score of 493, placing first overall to be named state champion and earn All-State honors.
The Lady Warriors finished with a team score of 2,703, behind Central Arkansas Christian (2,784) and Harrisburg (2,778).
In individual rankings, Shae Shook placed seventh overall with a score of 383. She also earned All-State recognition. Both Shook and Edrington qualified as individuals to compete in the Overall State Tournament on Friday, Feb. 20 in Jonesboro.
Ashlyn Hays placed 23rd with a score of 345, Hannah Cortez had a 334 for 26th place and McKenzie Dewberry placed 29th with a score of 327.
In the first game, Lamar’s top three bowlers were Shook at 168, Edrington at 132 and Hays at 122. In game two, Edrington led with a 213, while Dewberry scored 138 and Cortez finished at 132. In the third game, Edrington had the team’s highest score at 148. Hays scored 123 and Shook finished with a 119.
In Bakers games, the team of Cortez, Gracie Rainey, Shook, Hays and Edrington bowled a 126, and the team of Shook, Dewberry, Hays, Cortez and Edrington scored 114.
Boys
The Lamar boys finished with a score of 3,138 for sixth place. The top team of the day was Central Arkansas Christian, which had a score of 4,030.
Individually, Jaden Crotts was Lamar’s top finisher with a score of 502 for 22nd place. Robert Long placed 24th with a score of 474, while Cash Sinor placed 35th with a 398.
Kole Wadkins bowled a 388 for 37th place, and Josh Vaughn finished in 41st place with a score of 362.
In the first game, Long led the Warriors with a score of 197, while Crotts scored 178 and Wadkins finished at 141. In the second game, Crotts had a score of 170, Wadkins finished with a score of 164, and Sinor bowled a 162. In game three, Crotts led again with 154, while Long scored 142 and Vaughn finished at 124.
In Bakers games, the team of Vaughn, Levi Douglas, Reed England, Long and Crotts scored 163, and the team of Sinor, Deston Price, Wadkins, Long and Crotts bowled a 159.
