Blackhawks Shut Down Panthers

Despite an early lead, the Clarksville Panthers were unable to find an answer for the Pea Ridge Blackhawks on Friday, Oct. 17, as they fell 49-6 in conference action on the road.

After a scoreless first period, the Panthers got on the board first, when Ta Paluar Htoo caught a pass from quarterback James Cook for a touchdown early in the second quarter. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, and CHS led 6-0.

Clarksville was unable to score again, however, as the host team secured the 43-point win.

Senior Denver Pickartz had 15 carries for 86 yards and had one 30-yard reception.

Cook had 15 carries for 61 yards. Htoo had five catches for 25 yards and a touchdown.

On the offensive line, Cole Frizzell led the way up front with four pancake blocks, while Misael Escamilla, Ayden Frias, and Ethan Rocole each had one pancake block.

Pickartz led the defense with five solo tackles, three assists, one tackle for loss and a sack. Julio Banuelos finished with two solo tackles, two assists and one hurry.

Ty Kimbrough recorded three solo tackles. Jayden Hasty had two solo tackles and assisted on two tackles, and Slade Bean finished with two solo tackles.

Ben Holland had one solo tackle, two assists, one tackle for loss and one hurry. Trevor Dailey had one solo tackle and two assists. Frizzell recorded one solo tackle, one assist and recovered a fumble.

Zack Dolson and Cook each had one solo tackle and assisted on one tackle. Escamilla and Htoo finished with one solo tackle each.

Rylan Melson and Jesus Gonzalez each had one assist and one tackle for loss. Ethan Rocole had one quarterback hurry and forced a fumble.

Clarksville will continue conference play at Alma on Friday, Oct. 24, with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
