Ozark School Board Tables Field House Bids, Opens Board Vacancy

The Ozark School Board voted Sept. 18 to table bids topping $1 million for field house renovations, with Assistant Superintendent Lucas Skaggs set to work with an engineer on possible in-house options.
The meeting opened with a tribute to longtime board member Todd Durning, who died Sept. 12. His Zone D4 seat will be filled by board appointment on Nov. 17. Petitions with 20 signatures from Zone D4 residents are due Nov. 7 at the district office.
Other actions included:

Hearing the annual report to the public, available on the district website.

Approving personnel changes, including new hires Norma Jensen Smith and Hailey Felkins as paraprofessionals and Michelle Roffine as food service cook.

Approving tutoring and ACT prep programs.

Noting Ozark schools received state grades of D (primary), C (upper elementary), and B (middle, junior high, senior high).
Students Tucker Shaw and Harlie Sims also presented on their summer work with FCCLA, under adviser Debby Estep.
