Lady Warriors Remain Unbeaten In Conference

The Lamar Lady Warriors earned wins last week over three opponents, Cossatot River, Charleston and Paris, to move to 6-0 in 3A-4 conference play.

Cossatot River

Lamar hosted the Cossatot River Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and defeated the visitors 62-13.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 25-5 lead in the opening quarter and both teams added six points to the board in the second period for a 31-11 Lamar lead at the half. The Lady Warriors posted 25 points in the third quarter and six in the fourth quarter and held Cossatot River to just two points in the second half to seal the 49-point win.

Madison Davidson led the scoring with 11 points.

Macie Davidson finished with nine points and Shaylie Mayfield tallied eight. Kori Sanders and Emma Bailey each contributed seven points.

Kaley Long recorded five points, while Addison Hardison scored four and Clara Hampton finished with three. Rylee Miller, Abby Wilkins, Mylee Parker and Chloe Cowell each contributed two points.

Charleston

The Lady Warriors defeated the Charleston Lady Tigers at home Wednesday, Jan. 15, by a score of 62-30.

Lamar scored 21 points in the first quarter, while the Lady Tigers scored 15. In the second period, the Lady Warriors added 15 points to the board and allowed five by Charleston for a 36-20 lead at halftime. Lamar added 17 points to the board in the third quarter and nine in the fourth, while the Lady Tigers socred five points in each of the final two periods.

Bailey poured in 18 points to lead Lamar in scoring. Sanders recorded 13 points and Madison Davidson was also in double figures with 10 points.

Macie Davidson tallied eight points. Long added six points and Wilkins finished with four. Mayfield contributed two points and Hardin rounded out the scoring with one point.

Paris

On Friday, Jan. 17, Lamar defended its home court with a 65-39 win over the Paris Lady Eagles.

The Lady Warriors held a 25-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, they added five points to the board and allowed 12 by Paris for a 30-19 advantage at intermission. Lamar scored 25 points in the third quarter and the Lady Eagles added 15 to the board. In the final period, the Lady Warriors outscored Paris 10-5 to secure the 26-point victory.

Four Lady Warriors finished in double figures in the scoring column. Sanders led with 16 points, Madison Davidson had 15, Bailey recorded 12 and Mayfield added 10.

Long and Miller each scored five points and Wilkins chipped in two.

The Lady Warriors will play at Paris on Saturday, Jan. 25, and will be at home again Monday, Jan. 27, as they host the Jasper Lady Pirates.
