World Kindness Day serves as an annual reminder of the power of compassion and the importance of community, and this year, Cass Job Corps students embraced the spirit of the day by visiting residents at the Ozark Nursing Home, spreading smiles, laughter and heartfelt kindness.
The highlight of the visit was a lively game of bingo, where students partnered with residents to compete for prizes, creating moments of fun and connection.
Beyond the games, the students engaged residents in meaningful conversations, listening to stories from their past and gaining a deeper appreciation for their rich histories and experiences.
“Our visit turned some of the residents’ frowns upside down,” one student remarked. “Kindness has no boundaries and is contagious.”
Bailey Lentz, a culinary arts student, shared how the residents’ eyes lit up when they met the Cass mascot.
“It was so exciting to witness and a gentle reminder of how small acts of kindness can have a great impact,” Lentz said.
For the residents, the visit brought joy and companionship. For the students, it was a powerful lesson in the importance of giving back. By simply showing up and sharing their time, the Job Corps students made a meaningful difference in the lives of the nursing home residents.
