Transforming Lives Through Paint: Cass Job Corps Trade Program Seeks New Recruits
The Cass Job Corps paint trade is more than just paint application; it is a life-changing journey, one stroke at a time.
Under the guidance of Union paint instructor Tom Henja, who has over 19 years of experience, Job Corps students aged 16 to 24 are acquiring the art of industrial painting while gaining essential life skills.
They not only refine their painting techniques but also earn crucial certifications in occupational safety (OSHA), fall protection, ladder safety, forklift operation, crane rigging and mobile elevated work platform operation. Henja stresses the core of their education lies in developing a strong work ethic, character building and fostering meaningful relationships – crucial skills for today’s workforce.
The paint trade offers hands-on learning through various campus projects where these young adults thrive. The program recently revitalized the gym by repainting the floor and stenciling the lines for basketball, assisting with center housing unit renovations and repainting the dormitories. Henja said each stroke marked the students’ dedication to training and personal growth.
The Job Corps paint trade program is not just about painting surfaces; it’s about constructing a brighter future for each paint student. The hands-on skills and personal development opportunities they gain set the stage for their success in the workforce.
The paint trade is actively recruiting young individuals, aged 16 to 24, who are dedicated to learning a trade and building a brighter future. Anyone interested in joining the Job Corps program should contact Tina Highfill, outreach and admission recruiter, at 479-667-0933, or call the Cass Job Corps at 479-667-3686.
