Members of the Westside School Board accepted the resignation of high school teacher and coach Jeff Stewart during their monthly meeting Monday, March 16.
Stewart currently serves as high school health and physical education teacher and assistant football coach. He formerly served the Rebels as head football coach for several years before leaving the district and returning in 2022.
Stewart’s resignation was the only personnel item approved by the Board following an executive session.
Other Matters
–The financial report, which included a balance of $7,287,233.91, was approved, along with the expenditure comparison, checking account data and activity report.
–Superintendent Brad Kent reported enrollment in the district is 535.
–Kent provided an update on the elementary building project, telling the Board the contractor would like to have members on site for a walk-through in May or June. Kent said the project is progressing well, and he is excited for the Board to see the view from the second story of the new addition, looking south toward the Arkansas River. “There’s not a better view in Johnson County,” Kent said. “It’s special.”
–Board members approved the district’s continued participation in the summer food service program for 2026.
–The Board approved Kent’s certification of federal assurances for funding for the 2026-27 school year.
