The Westside Rebels fell to Mountainburg but defeated Danville in recent conference basketball action.
Mountainburg
The Rebels hosted the Mountainburg Dragons on Friday, Jan. 30, and fell to the visitors 65-44.
Westside trailed 20-11 after one quarter. The Rebels scored seven points in the second quarter and allowed 13 by Mountainburg for a 33-18 halftime deficit. In the third quarter, Westside added 11 points to the board and the Dragons scored 14. The Rebels posted 15 fourth-quarter points but allowed 18 by Mountainburg.
Cameron Cloos led the scoring for the Rebels with 16 points. A.J. Elizondo was also in double figures with 10 points.
Payton Williamson scored eight points. Baylor Payne tallied four points, Noah Osornio added three and Isaiah Muniz chipped in two. Karsyn Flaherty rounded out the scoring with one point.
Danville
Westside was on the road at Danville on Monday, Feb. 2, where they earned a 52-45 win over the Little Johns.
The Rebels held a 15-11 lead at the end of the opening period and outscored Danville 9-8 in the second quarter for a 24-19 halftime lead. Westside poured in 22 third-quarter points and limited the Little Johns to 10 points. In the final quarter, the Rebels held off a Danville rally, as the Little Johns scored 16 points but Westside put in six of its own to secure the win.
Elizondo scored a team-high 19 points in the win. Osornio finished in double figures with 12 points.
Cloos put in nine points, while Payne finished with six. Zane Smith, Williamson and Easton Williams each contributed two points.
