Lady Warriors Are 3A-4 Conference Champs
The Lamar Lady Warriors wrapped up their sweep of conference opponents last week with wins over Charleston, Cossatot River and Booneville to clinch the 3A-4 Conference championship.
With an overall record of 27-2 and conference record of 14-0, they are competing in the district tournament this week at Booneville, with a game scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20.
Charleston
Lamar hosted the Charleston Lady Tigers for senior night on Tuesday, Feb. 11, and defeated the visitors 71-37.
The Lady Warriors trailed 16-15 at the end of the first quarter but outscored Charleston 22-5 in the second period to hold a 37-21 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Lamar added 24 points to the board and limited the Lady Tigers to 11 points. The Lady Warriors outpaced Charleston 10-5 in the fourth quarter to secure the 34-point win.
Madison Davidson led the scoring with 21 points and Kori Sanders was close behind with 20.
Kaley Long and Emma Bailey each recorded nine points. Shaylie Mayfield contributed four points and Rylee Miller and Abby Wilkins each tallied three. Brooklyn Meimerstorf rounded out the scoring with two points.
Cossatot River
The Lady Warriors were on the road Friday, Feb. 14, at Cossatot River, where they took an 81-31 win over the Lady Eagles.
Lamar jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Warriors scored 25 points and held Cossatot River to 10 for a 46-20 advantage at the break. Lamar added 19 points to the board in the third quarter and 16 in the fourth, while the Lady Eagles scored four and seven points, respectively, in the last two periods.
Long scored a team-high 20 points. Also in double figures were Madison Davidson with 15 points and Emma Bailey with 10.
Mayfield posted eight points. Sanders finished with seven points and Miller contributed five.
Wilkins, Meimerstorf, Clara Hampton, Macie Davidson and Mylee Parker each chipped in two points.
Booneville
Lamar concluded the regular season with a 64-36 win over the Booneville Lady Bearcats on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Bailey led the team in scoring with 17 points.
Madison Davidson finished with 14 points and Sanders and Long were also in double figures with 10 points each.
Scoring three points each were Miller, Hampton and Wilkins. Mayfield added two points and Macie Davidson and Mayci Hilton each contributed one point.
