Carolyn Lee Taylor

Carolyn Lee Taylor, 64, of Clarksville, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Clarksville, she was the daughter of the late James Felkins, widow of David L. Taylor, attended Clarksville High School and the University of the Ozarks, and a Jehovah’s Witness.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Darrell Weathers of Clarksville; two granddaughters, Taylor Weathers and Whitney Weathers of Clarksville; and mother, Jeroldean O’Neal Felkins of Clarksville.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Tim Swindle officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Gould, Bobby Hurley, Jon Janssen, Jimmy Stephens, Blake Weathers, and Steve Weathers.

Harry D. Wood

Harry D. Wood, 85, of Clarksville died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

He was a son of the late John Wesley and Elsie Mae Powell Wood, and was preceded in death by one sister, Aillene Hester; two brothers, (his twin), Paul Wood, and John Wood Jr.; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Wood.

He is survived by two brothers, E.D. Wood and Bill Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Community Funeral Service in Clarksville.

There will be no funeral service.

Jack Allison Ross

Jack Allison Ross, 86, of Altus died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, in Paris.

He was a native of Denning, son of the late Arthur D. and Hazel Covert Ross, retired United States Air Force electronic technician, veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II in New Guinea and the Philippines as a combat infantry rifleman, lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, Protestant, and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Graham Ross; three brothers, Oscar D. Ross, Luke H. Ross, and James L. Ross; and one granddaughter, Brandy L. Watson.

He is survived by one son, Gary Allison Ross and wife, Gina Renee, of Huntsville; one daughter, Candy L. Perdue of Virginia; three grandsons, John B. Watson of Virginia, Jeremy Allison Ross and wife, Benita, of Little Rock, and James Drue Ross of Green Forest; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Renee Ross, Kalie Marie Ross and Jacob Wayne Ross; four nieces, Marilyn, Nancy, Beth and Sheila; and one nephew, Jeffery Ross.

 Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Mike Pennington officiating.

Larry Neil Burnham

Larry Neil Burnham, 75, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 4, 2011, in Fort Smith.

He was a native of New Blaine, son of the late James (Pat) H. and Lela Burnham, graduate of the University of the Ozarks where he was a three sport letterman, salesman for 45 years, member of Harvest Time Tabernacle, 32nd degree Mason, graduate of Bible college, and preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Ruth Morgan Burnham; and one sister, Joyce Farnam.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Burnham; two sons, Steve Burnham of Little Rock and Patrick Burnham of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Susan (Jeff) Hannan of Fort Smith; one sister, Ratha Lane of Kibler; two stepsons, John (Mary Beth) Spradlin of Louisiana and Dennis Spradlin of Bentonville; and three grandchildren, Rachel, Devin and Corbin Dishner.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Harvest Time Tabernacle with burial at Elizabeth Hall Cemetery in New Blaine under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Active pallbearers were Devin Dishner, Mike Johnson, Grant Johnson, Doug Morgan, David Morgan, Eric Leisman, James Lane, Mike Farnam, Tony Farnam, and David Farnam.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Chili Dipper’s Golf Team.

Lois Marie McCarley

Lois Marie McCarley, 97, of Clarksville died Friday, April 15, 2011.

She was a daughter of the late Lewis and Flora Ellen Guthrie Mills, widow of W.A. McCarley Jr., member of First Baptist Church in Clarksville, former member of the Union Grove Quilting Club, and was preceded in death by one brother, Austin Mills.

Survivors include one son, Ross McCarley and wife, Ann, of Clarksville; one daughter, Ann Guess and husband, J.R., of Clarksville; two brothers, Archie Mills of North Little Rock and Roland Mills of Salinas, Calif.; one sister, Martha Patterson of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Mike A. Guess, Missy Moore, and Brittany Guess, all of Clarksville, Carmen Peters of College Station, Texas, Brad McCarley of Springdale and Brady McCarley of Morrilton;  and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bridges officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Mike A. Guess, Brad McCarley, Brady McCarley, Craig Patterson, Jason Moore, and Jacob Moore.

Honorary pallbearers were Aubrey Yount, Bobby Gunn, Bernard Werner, Tom Werner, Chuck Lorfing, and Lloyd Pitts.

Pauline Jacobs

Pauline Jacobs, 94, of Hunt died Friday, April 15, 2011, at Lamar.

She was a daughter of the late William and Dessie Ogden Allen, widow of James Ormel Jacobs; member of Centerpoint Missionary Baptist Church for 54 years, owner and operator of J.O. Jacobs Grocery for 75 years prior to retiring at the age of 90, and was preceded in death by three sons, Dean Jacobs, Paul David Jacobs, and Larry Jacobs; two brothers, Leo Allen and Carrol Allen; one stepson, Kenneth Jacobs; one daughter-in-law, Janice Jacobs; and one grandson, David Jacobs.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Jacobs of Hartman and Mike Jacobs and wife, Sandra, of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Centerpoint Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ira Taylor and Rev. Ken Ashlock officiating.

Burial was in Hogan Cemetery at Hunt under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Cliff Jacobs, Bruce Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, Philip Taylor, Conway Jones, and Gary Allen Jacobs.

Honorary pallbearers were Donna Williams, Deanna Jones, Melody Taylor, Gaylan Williams and Steve Jacobs.
