Alfreda Henrietta Axford Zach, 92, of Clarksville died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
She was a native of Pierre, S. D., daughter of the late Alfred and Clara Axford, widow of Elmer Zach, Lutheran, graduate of Plainview (Nebraska) High School and Reynolds School of
Cosmetology in Norfolk, co-owner and operator of a hardware store in Plainview, Neb., until her retirement, former beautician, avid gardener, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathryn Collins, one granddaughter, Shana Zach, a sister, Dorothea Foster, and a brother, Henry Axford.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilynn Zach and husband, Craig Knecht, of Bedford, Wyo.; one son, Lowell Zach and wife, Andra, of Clarksville; and two grandchildren, George Collins of Omaha, Neb., and Steve Casselman of Deer Lake, Minn.; two great-grandsons; one sister, Clara Luhr of Cherokee Village.
Funeral will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview, Neb., on Friday, Feb. 15 with burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Steve Casselman, George Collins, Jim Doggett, Bob Garrison, Dave Zach, and Mark Zach. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Luschen.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Ann Pitts, 90, of Clarksville died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at her home.
She was a native of Matthews, Mo., daughter of the late Richard and Mary Johns Pyland, widow of Robert S. Pitts, member of the First United Methodist Church, and employee of South Park Restaurant for several years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jo Summers of Enid, Okla.; one stepdaughter-in-law, Cynthia Pitts of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Randy Summers and wife, Suzanne, of Lindsay, Okla., and Kelly Nave and Penny Shepard, both of Enid, Okla.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Burton officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Huie Bird, Dan Cogan, Joe Hamilton, Craig Summers, Dylan Nave, and Tim Prince.
Dorothy Ellen Critcher, 85, of Lamar, formerly of Grubbs, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at Lamar.
She was a native of Rokoshe, Okla., daughter of the late Frank and Melinda Maude Sims Ragains, widow of Joseph Daniel Critcher, retired Grubbs School District employee after 20 years of service, of the Church of God faith, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Anschultz; one grandchild, Carey Daniel Fuel; one brother, Frank Edward Ragains; and four sisters, Elizabeth Ward, Katherine Demmitt, Emma Lou Sterling, and Margaret Hines.
She is survived by four sons, Tommy Critcher and wife, Shirley, of Gold Hill, Ore., Jerry Critcher and wife, Debbie, of Newark, Jack Critcher and wife, Vickie, of Batesville, and Mike Critcher and wife, Terri, of Grubbs; five daughters, Linda Fuel of Texas City, Texas, Jo Ellen Wilkins of Clarksville, Donna Gann and husband, Doug, of Morganza, La., Kathy Johnson of Newport, and Martha Pelley of Newark; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hoover Lewis officiating. Burial was in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery at Grubbs.
Active pallbearers were Brian Anschultz, Brad Johnson, Jacob Critcher, Denzil Griffin, Dean Vosburg, and Herschel Kagen.

Eric Dylan Eldridge, 16, of Lamar died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
He was a tenth grade student at Lamar High School and member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church in Lamar.
Survivors include his parents, Gary Alan Eldridge Sr. and Ronda Eldridge of Lamar; one sister, Melanie Eldridge of the home; two brothers, Gary Alan Eldridge Jr. and Nicholas Eldridge, both of the home; and grandparents, Agnes Eldridge of Arizona and Yvonne Koester of Hartman.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Cabin Creek Baptist Church in Lamar with Rev. Doug Woods officiating.
Pallbearers will be Gary Eldridge Jr., Toby Pelts, Terry Dewinter and Brock O’Neal.
The body will be cremated.
James Ray (J. R.) Davis, 56, of Fayetteville died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at his home.
He was born in Clarksville to Noel and Marie Phillips Davis, a retired long haul truck driver, and a Vietnam Navy veteran.
He is survived by four brothers, Ron Davis of Rubottom, Okla., Jerry Davis of Baytown, Texas, Keith Davis of Little Rock and Melvin Davis of Noel, Mo.; and four sisters, Arlene Miller of Odessa, Texas, Brenda Dunnum of Lubbock, Texas, Jan Hinds of Bella Vista, and Marilyn Youngblood of Weatherford, Texas.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville. Arrangements were under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel, Inc., of Springdale.

Jay D. Henderson, 70, of Clarksville died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired Baptist minister and son of the late Norman (Ned) and Elease Murray Henderson.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan Shelbrock of South Carolina; one son, Randy Lee Henderson of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Sherry Boen and husband, Robert, Pamala Terry and husband, Don, and Kutrenia Turner and husband, Wesley, all of Ozone; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Wayton Cemetery with Rev. Robert Boen officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Jewell J. Faught Martin Stone, 93, of Ozark died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late David and Belle Brown Faught, Pentecostal, and was preceded in death by husbands, Vester Martin and Herbert Stone; sons, William, David, Floyd, Lewis, and Billy Martin; daughter, Betty Owen Powell; daughter-in-law, Janell Martin; two sisters; two brothers; and two granddaughters.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Martin of Fayetteville; four sons, Boyd Martin and wife, Pat, of Manteca, Calif., Paul Martin and wife, Sandy, of Coal Hill, Jerry Martin and wife, Lucille, of Ozark, and Michael Martin of Roswell, N. M.; one sister, Opal Moore of Clarksville; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 41 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery at Deer.

Loyd Lee (Buz) Hurst, 66, of Hartman died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Fort Smith.
He was an oil field employee, member of the Coal Hill Methodist Church, native of Altus, son of the late Donald and Ruth Carlisle Hurst, and was preceded in death by two nieces, Leslie Ann Hurst and Becky Bramlett.
Survivors include four daughters, Melissa Muldoon of Coal Hill, Natosha Auterson of Clarksville, Deborah Crumpacker of Ozark and Kayln Hurst of Fort Smith; two sons, Dustin Hurst of Coal Hill and Michael Hurst of Ozark; one sister, Judy Rinke of Coal Hill; one brother, Donald (Duck) Hurst of Altus; ten grandchildren, Kristopher Muldoon, Kody Muldoon, Kallie Muldoon, Tessa Auterson, Paige Pugh, Cole David Crumpacker, Connor Hurst, Carson (Pete) Hurst, Kamron Hurst, and Haylee Hurst; three nephews, Ricky Hurst, Randy Hurst, and Joe Rinke; and one niece, Yvonne Case.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Shelby Floyd officiating. Burial was in Hess Cemetery at Coal Hill.

Onella Bray Childers, 89, of Lamar died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at her home.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, native of the Coal Hill-Hartman area, daughter of the late David Newton (Newt) and Eulalah Moore Bray, and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dewey Childers; one daughter, Brenda Childers Bittle; one stepson, Harold Dean Childers; and four brothers, Jack, Kenneth, L. B. and Eugene Bray.
She is survived by four children, David Don Childers, Dain Childers, Janice Over, and Rita Cline; son-in-law, Charles Over; one sister, Betty Mitchell; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; niece and caregiver, Denise Matheny; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Lamar Church of Christ with Todd Rabalais and John Ballard officiating.
Burial was in Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers were Adam Moore, Grant Childers, Chad Over, Ryan Moore, John Eichenberger, and Tony Davis.

Wanda Belle Kramer, 74, of Altus died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at Altus.
She was a native of Coal Hill, daughter of the late Leo C. and Effie Tipton Steele, widow of Ambrose Kramer, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Harrison; one brother, Douglas L. Steele; one sister, Quida F. Clayborn; and four grandchildren.
Survivors include six daughters, Norma Riley of Russellville, Janetta Gipson and Cindy Stoneking, both of Ozark, Diane Main of Chapman, Kan., Teresa Hinten of Stotts City, Mo., and Pam Holder of Altus; two sons, Buddy Pledger of Coal Hill and Wayne Pledger of Altus; five stepchildren of Kansas; two sisters, Georgia Riley and Regina Johnson, both of Hartman; two brothers, Billy Steele and Robert Steele, both of Hartman; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Liberty Cemetery at Altus under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers.
Willis Elva Rogers, 89, of Dardanelle, whose son, Steven W. Rogers and wife, Vickie, reside in Clarksville, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, in Dardanelle.
He was a native of Lead Hill, son of the late Thomas F. and Callie Grady Rogers, and was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Allene Jones Rogers; one daughter, Sharlene Rogers of Dardanelle; one other son, Mike Rogers and wife, Kandy, of Dardanelle; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Brearly Cemetery in Dardanelle under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Emma Jane Corbin Payne was born in Plainview, Arkansas to the late Jay A. and Lula (Franks) Corbin. She was raised at Ola, Arkansas and lived most of her life in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1978, she moved back to Lamar, Arkansas. She graduated from Little Rock Central High School and Capital City Business College. She was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church, a past member of the Faith Hope Circle, Whatsoever Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Women at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville, past Worthy Matron – Order of the Eastern Star where she was a 50 year member of the Lamar Chapter No. 516, Grand Officer of the Eastern Star of Arkansas, volunteer and member of the Johnson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Methodist Mustard Seed, Johnson County Senior Activity Center, honorary life member and past president of the Women’s City Club in Little Rock. She was an accomplished musician and music instructor.
She is survived by: Norma Gentry of Clarksville, Arkansas and Mary Jean Nordin and her husband, Leland, of Lamar, Arkansas; Jeremy, Dody, Macy, and Ike Pelts, and numerous family members of her late husband Jimmie Payne and the late John and Annie Miller.
The family received friends from 9-10 a.m. at the Lamar Methodist Church. The funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Lamar Methodist Church in Lamar, Arkansas with Reverend Michael Thurman officiating. Burial was in the Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
Pallbearers were George Overbey, Paul Gentry, Glen Hickey, John Tyson, Carl Collins, and Jody Storms.
Honorary pallbearers were Bonita Long, Annetta Mooney, Loretta Crotts, Cecil Storms, and Denise Hickey.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lamar Methodist Church.
Opal Ann Barnes Tolbert, 89, of Clarksville died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Swain in Newton County, daughter of the late John L. and Fannie Edgmon Barnes, widow of Watts Tolbert, member of the First United Methodist Church and worked in the church’s Mustard Seed Shop for 20 years, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Tolbert.
Survivors include one daughter, Maris Jean Fletcher of Beebe; one son, Phillip Tolbert and wife, Glenda, of Muskogee, Okla.; two brothers, Thurman Barnes of Sand Springs, Okla., and Charlie Barnes of Lebanon, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kenneth Fletcher of Richland, Wash., Mark Fletcher and wife, Liz, of Houston, Texas, and Steven Tolbert and wife, Michelle, of Muskogee, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Steven Brad Gomez, 28, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at his home.
He was elected student body president at Arkansas Tech University Ozark campus, graduated top in class for heating and air, graduate of Bakersfield (California) High School, served in the Army National Guard four years and was in the heating and air construction business.
Survivors include one son, Steven Vance Gomez of Clarksville; step-son, Zachary Leos; mother, Terri Burnett of Clarksville; father, Steven Gomez of Ohio; step-son, Zachary Leos; one sister, Alex Gomez of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Justin Claye Beck and wife, Shauna, of Lamar; companion, Sarah Sanders of Lamar; nieces, Cayla and Sydney Beck, Marina, Maranda and Kaylee; grandparents, Tom and Francine Burnett of Coal Hill; aunt, Starlett Burnett of Clarksville; and cousins.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bridges officiating.
Burial will be in Coal Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Adams, Boone Conquest, Aaron Sanders, Larry Riley, Andy Butler and Christopher Wood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Claye Beck, Tonya Henson and Tyrone Willis.
