Betty L. Leigh
Betty Lou Leigh, 63, of Bentonville died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006.
She was born in Maywood, Calif., to Fred and Hazel Ashe, widow of James Leigh, former resident of Henderson, Nev., a caregiver for Home-instead in Rogers, and a Christian. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Ashe and Bobby Fred Ashe; and two sisters, Velma Jean Cripe and Mary Katherine Ashe.
Survivors include one daughter, Freda Cordes and husband, Michael, of Bentonville, formerly of Clarksville; one brother, James Ashe of Henderson, Nev.; two granddaughters, Faith Leigh Cordes and Toni O’Daniel of Bentonville.
The body will be cremated.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Chapel in Joplin, Mo.
Billy L. Stacy
Billy Leon Stacy, 71, of Ozark, father of Janet Marie Smith of Lamar, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, in Fort Smith.
He was a son of the late Jesse and Cora Belle Lovell Stacy, native of Altus and retired brick mason.
Survivors include his wife, Juana Rae Stacy; one other daughter, Teresa Williams of Ozark; two sons, Stephen Stacy of Ozark and Billy Don Stacy of Evansville, Ind.; two sisters, Ollie Wright of Clarksville and Maxine Drake of Altus; three brothers, Clyde and Hairl Stacy, both of Ozark, and Leroy Stacy of Springdale; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Belt Cemetery with Rev. Pearlie Bowman officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Clyde Williamson
Clyde Allen Williamson, 61, of the Flat Rock Community died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Madera, Calif., he was a son of the late John and Lemiley McClendon Williamson, employee of ConAgra Frozen Foods in Russellville, Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by one son, Allen Williamson of Knoxville; one sister, Betty Williamson of Florida; three brothers, J. D. Williamson of Omaha, and Joe Williamson and Jim Williamson, both of Oregon; and three grandchildren, John Allen Williamson, Kristy Williamson and Hannah Williamson, all of Knoxville.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Dorothy M. Bolus
Dorothy Mae Bolus, 84, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Coalburg, Ala., daughter of the late George Egbert and Julia Johnson Clayton, graduate of Jefferson High School in Birmingham, Ala., Auburn University and University of Florida, retired school teacher, and member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by one daughter, Darby Jil Bolus of Clarksville; one son, Jessie Clayton Bolus of Fultondale, Ala.; three grandchildren, Bethany Lynn Walker of Hartman, David L. Walker Jr. of Clarksville, and Ryan Bolus of Alabama; and six great-grandchildren, Phillip Johnson, Brittany Johnson, Justin Walker, Tanner Walker, James Walker, and Jilean Walker.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at the Harmony Cemetery with Rev. Lee Cording officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Elbert Caldwell Jr.
Elbert (E. J.) Caldwell Jr., 82, of Salus died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, son of the late Elbert D. and Veda Tubbs Caldwell, retired paint contractor, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Obie Joe Caldwell and Donald Caldwell, and one sister, Betty Gray.
Survivors are his wife, Mittie Naylor Caldwell; five daughters, Peggy Higgins and husband, Billy, of Fort Smith, Mona Russell and husband, Keith, of Hartman, Nancy Stepp and husband, Dolen, and Kimberly Sparks, all of Salus, and Marilyn Cowell and husband, Jerry, of Clarksville; two sons, Bill Caldwell and wife, Starlet, and Larry Caldwell and wife, Cindy, all of Salus; one brother, Carl Caldwell of Kaufman, Texas; one sister, Mary Nell Nicklas of Kaufman, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger and Mark Tumbleson officiating. The body was cremated.
Harry E. Schearer
Harry E. Schearer, 85, of Hartman died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
He was a retired general laborer and was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Schearer.
He is survived by four sons, Tommy Balkcom and wife, Margerite, of Russellville, Bobby Balkcom and wife, Dorothy, and William Balkcom and wife, Caroline, all of Clarksville, and Joseph Balkcom and wife, Theresa, of Coal Hill; and five grandchildren, Tanya Thomas and Wesley Balkcom, both of Clarksville, Lynnette Krachey of Lamar, James Balkcom of Texas, and Tori Balkcom of Coal Hill.
The body was donated to science.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Jolene G. Griffin
Jolene G. Griffin, 72, of Coal Hill died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at her home.
A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late Sheldon and Esther King Sandlin, 1951 graduate of Coal Hill High School, member of the Coal Hill Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband of 50 years, H. D. Griffin; two daughters, Cheryl O’Neal of Ozark and Kim Griffin of Coal Hill; and two grandchildren, Trent O’Neal and Tandy O’Neal, both of Ozark.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with John Ballard officiating. Burial will be in Coal Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Roughley, Jimmy Roughley, Edsel Williams, Larry Griffin, Charlie Holzman, and Leroy Douglas.

Jim Price
Jim Price, 75, of Ozark, father of Glen Price of Knoxville, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, in a Fort Smith hospital.
A native of Oklahoma, he was a son of the late Glen and Willis Price, retired carpenter and member of the Old Country Church in Ozark.
Survivors include his wife, Oma Long Price; two other sons, Robert Price and Michael Price, both of Alma; two stepsons, Darrel Freeman of Kansas City, Kan., and Ray Freeman of Pryor, Okla.; two sisters, Wilma Dowdy and Melva Harrison, both of Alma; five grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Old Country Church in Ozark with Rev. J. D. Ellison officiating.
Burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery in the Jethro Community under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Robert, Timothy, Thomas and Nathan Williams, James Haas and Jeremy Gathright.
Jerry T. South
Jerry Thomas South, 70, of Hartman died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home.
He was a Baptist, veteran of the United States Marines, electrician, son of the late John and Alice South, and was preceded in death by his wife, Gwin South.
He is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Reinholtz and husband, Kenneth, of Clarksville; seven sons, Jerry South Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Fort Worth, Texas, Sammy South and wife, Tina, of Hartman, Ronnie South of New Mexico, Billy South and wife, Jamie, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Lance, Eric and John South; one sister, Pat Bartmus of Cottonwood, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Hartman Baptist Church.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Margaret O. Pierce
Margaret Paralee Oldham Pierce, 93, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Clarksville, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, in Arkadelphia.
She was a native of Steelville, Mo., daughter of the late Rev. Walter McCord and Ella Lucinda Schouten Oldham, and with her late husband, Homer Rowland (Chick) Pierce, became owner and operator of H. R. Pierce Lumber Company in Clarksville in 1937. She was also a teacher at Clarksville schools for a number of years, was a member of the Philharmonic Music Club, Kappa Kappa Iota, First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia and Civitan and served as president of the PTA.
Survivors include three daugh-
ters, Mary Anne Berryman and Sandra Holt and husband, David, all of Arkadelphia, and Donna Saylor and husband, Ed, of Biloxi, Miss.; one brother, Rev. Bill Oldham of Tulsa, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia with Rev. Will Thompson officiating followed by burial at 4 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville with Rev. David Holt officiating.
Pallbearers were Ray Jodon, Ken Crain, Phil Ayres, Byron Eubanks, Phil Hardin, and Bill Dixon.
Memorials may be made to Civitan Research Center for the Developmentally Disabled.
Vernon W. Taylor
Vernon Wayne Taylor, 56, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
He attended the First Assembly of God Church and was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Carter Taylor.
Survivors include his father, Vernon Douglas Taylor of Clifton, Colo.; two sisters, Sharon Robinson McMillon and Brenda Kay Robinson and husband, John, all of Clarksville; one half-sister, Carla Sue Brown of Dallas, Texas; one half-brother, Rickey Brinegar of Gorman, Texas; and one stepbrother, Melvin Madrid of Grand Junction, Colo.
The body was cremated.

Willard Burton
Willard Burton, 88, of Knoxville died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Hickeytown, he was a son of the late Arthur and Jane Drummond Burton, a commercial fisherman, employee of Eureka Brick and Tile Company for many years, member of the Knoxville Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Atwell Burton; five sisters, Margie Chavers, Ruth Nichols, Jessie Hattabaugh, Alta Hunnicutt and Mary Storms; and one brother, Joe Burton.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Knoxville Cemetery with Rev. Richard Snyder officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Roy Dale Crow
Roy Dale Crow, 71, of Paris died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers.
He was a native of Neosho, Mo., son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Edith Crabtree Crow, member of Paris First Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Bill Crow; and one sister, Dorothy Crow Varnell.
Survivors include three daughters, Pam Crow of Clarksville, Judy Crow of Hartman, and Dixie Bowman of Springdale; one sister, Velma Kessler of Illinois; one brother, John Crow of Illinois; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sandra Williams and Rev. Kenny Maness officiating.
The body will be cremated.
