Danny P. Sampley

Danny Paul Sampley, 32, of Fort Smith, brother of Richard T. Sampley of Clarksville, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital.

He was a native of Ozark, attended Oak Grove Church at Cecil, and participated in painting of the mural at the Fort Smith Trolley Car Museum.

Other survivors include his mother, Betty Jean Hancock Sampley LaClair of Ozark; father, Danny Ray Sampley of Roland, Okla.; maternal grandparents, Gene and Violet Hancock of Cecil; one niece, Brook; and two nephews, Luke and Lane.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Eubanks Cemetery west of Cecil.

Pallbearers were Bill, Bobby, Jimmie, Gary and Alan Hancock, and Ben Schaffer.

Pearl M. Gilbert

Pearl M. Gilbert, 95, of Altus died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at her home.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Vester and Dill Vickers Mitchell, widow of Ernest Gilbert, and a member of Dyer Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Melba Williams of Denning; three sons, Joel Gilbert of Prairie Grove, Howard Gilbert of Ozark and William Gilbert of Dyer; one brother, Wilburn Mitchell of Decatur; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Altus United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Sammy Alverson and Ronnie Lee officiating.

Burial was at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Pallbearers were Jim, Josh, Mike, Clifton and Brandon Gilbert, and Michael Brown.
