Arlie Skaggs

Arlie Skaggs, 89, of Rogers, formerly of Johnson County, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Rogers.

He was a son of the late William (Dick) and Joyce Hammonds Skaggs, farmer, Baptist, and was preceded in death by two daughters, Zeda Velma Skaggs Nelson and Ada Skaggs; one son, Denver Skaggs; six sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include his widow, Bessie Reed Skaggs; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Robbie Ellen Skaggs of Georgia, Lura and Lonnie Madewell of Fayetteville, Carolyn and Calvin Turner of Springdale, Leta Mae and Rod White of Nob Hill, and Louvella Shirley of Bentonville; five sons and daughters-in-law, Loyd and Nancy Skaggs, MacArthur and Denice Skaggs, Doyle and Rethea Skaggs, and David and Lenda Skaggs, all of Springdale, and Ben and Dorothy Skaggs of Lamar; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Dorsey Martin and Rev. Rusty Martin officiating. Burial was in Oark Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were David Skaggs Jr., Josh Skaggs, Steven Turner, Jimmy Skaggs, Randy Madewell, and John Skaggs.

Honorary pallbearers were Adam White, Eric White, James Skaggs, and Eric Davenport.

Frank Nordin

Frank Nordin, 71, of Lamar died Friday, April 16, 2004, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.

A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Aubrey and Mary Barling Nordin, graduate of Lamar High School, member and board member of the Lamar United Methodist Church, member of National Guard for 29 1/2 years and full-time employee 20 years during which time he assisted Lamar, Clarksville and Westside schools in construction projects. He was past president and member of Lamar School Board, Johnson County Farm Bureau, and Johnson County Board of Education, member of Don Davis Exceptional School Board, Johnson County Peach Festival Board, Johnson County Fair Board, Extension Service Planning Committee, Johnson County Cattleman’s Association, Clarksville Lions Club, and East Johnson County Water Users Association. He was the recipient of numerous military commendations for performance of duties and leadership.

Survivors include his widow, Kathryn Meimerstorf Nordin; three daughters, Nita Pickering of Lamar, Sue Ford of Poteau, Okla., and Missy Hanna of Fort Smith; two sons, Mike Nordin of Rogers and Gary Nordin of Lamar; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, at the Lamar United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Thurman and Rev. Mike Nease officiating.

Burial was in Nordin Cemetery at Lamar under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Leland Nordin, Milton Nordin, Rusty Nordin, Larry Holman, John Payne, Robert Smith, and Norman Reynolds.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, East Johnson County Water Users Board of Directors, and Johnson County Soil Conservation Board of Directors.

Melvin L. Davis

Melvin Lee Davis, 74, of Ozark, formerly of Clarksville, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Ozark.

He was a son of the late Solomon R. and Dorcas Mays Davis, saw mill employee, affiliated with the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie L. Davis.

He is survived by two sisters, Maggie Martin of Huntsville and Allene McGuire of Ozark.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. John Martin and Rev. Glenn Simpson officiating. Burial was in Patterson Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roger Crouch, Robert McGuire, Darrell McGuire, Johnny Martin, Gary McGuire and Lonnie Tate.

Marie Moore

Marie Moore, 84, of Paris died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in Paris.

A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Claude Chrisman Colburn and a retired waitress.

Survivors include one daughter, Candace Jackson of Midway; two sons, Joseph Michael Moore of Russellville and Pat Moore of Carbon City; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at McVay Cemetery at Carbon City under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

Marshall A. Price

Marshall Arden Price, 87, of Clarksville died Friday, April 16, 2004, at his home.

He was a retired British Petroleum employee, member of the Church of the Advent, Episcopal, decorated World War II Army veteran, and son of the late Arch and Ruth Skinner Price.

Survivors include his widow, Jerry Danforth Price; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Eric A. Price of Waco, Texas, and Michael J. and Andrea Price of Honolulu, Hawaii; and one brother, Les Price of Cape Coral, Fla.

Funeral was at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Roller-Cox Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.

Roland E. Kettelhut

Roland Edward Kettelhut, 73, of Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Clarksville, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, in Tacoma, Wash.

He was a native of Belvidere, Neb., son of the late Ed and Irene Guse Kettelhut, and was preceded in death by one sister, Bettyann Shain; and one brother, Marvin Kettelhut.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Taylor of Clarksville and Tanna Hairn of Tacoma, Wash.; one son, Eddie Kettelhut of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Leona Ricketts of Clarksville and Marion Reed of Siloam Springs; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be Wednesday, April 21, in Sumner, Wash., under the direction of Funeral Alternatives of Washington in Sumner, Wash.

Ruth Lee Senft

Ruth Lee Senft, 78, of Clarksville died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at her home.

She was a daughter of the late William R. and Clara Jacobs Potter, widow of Harold Edmond Senft, affiliated with the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Roger E. Senft.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Senft of Colorado and Diane M. Senft of Clarksville; two sons, David A. Senft and James W. Senft, both of Illinois; and four grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
