Mrs. Barbara Hutchins

Mrs. Barbara Ann Hutchins, 51, of Lamar died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of Ministries A Flame Church and daughter of the late Oscar E. McAlister and Gracie A. Clayborn McAlister.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry D. Hutchins; two daughters, Connie A. Porter of Clarksville and Mary L. (Sissy) Kaylor of Ward; two sons, Jimmy D. Hale of Clarksville and Billy J. Hale of Lamar; two sisters, Linda A. Bruton and Mary Lou McAlister, both of Lamar; two brothers, Everett Ray McAlister of Clarksville and Bobby Joe McAlister of Lamar; and six grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Ministries A Flame Church with Edna Burnett, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Kevin Holt, Josh White, Ronnie White, William Palmer, Billy Ray Parker, and Joe McCarley.

Mrs. Corina Freeman

Mrs. Corina Sue Freeman, 64, of Charleston, sister of William Michael Taylor of Clarksville, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Charleston.

A native of Fort Smith, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Ralph Taylor, retired nurses aide at Greenhurst Nursing Home and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her mother, Neta Faye Taylor Essman of Charleston; one sister, Solda Frum of Lenexa, Kan.; two other brothers, Jerry Taylor of Hot Springs Village and Larry Taylor of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Smith Mortuary Chapel with Travis Huffman officiating.

Mrs. Erma F. Burney

Mrs. Erma Felkins Burney, 82, of Mountain Grove, Mo., sister of Sybil Utnage of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Mountain Grove, Mo.

She was a daughter of the late Earl and Fannie Felkins of Clarksville.

Other survivors include one daughter, Sharon Hilt of Mountain Grove, Mo.; one son, Kenny Burney of Mountain Grove, Mo.; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral and burial were Thursday, Jan. 20, in Mountain Grove, Mo.

Mrs. Edna Green

Mrs. Edna Green, 70, of Van Buren, mother of Mary Jane Croff of Clarksville, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000.

She was a retired employee of Allen Canning Company and a Pentecostal.

Survivors include her husband, Louis Green; one other daughter, Linda Tuck of Van Buren; four sons, J. C. Green and William (Bill) Green, both of Mulberry, Larry Green of Pocola, Okla., and Floyd Green of Van Buren; one sister, Betty Lou Masterson of Spiro, Okla.; three brothers, Jimmy Woods of Spiro, Okla., Johnny Woods of Pocola, Okla., and Frankie Woods of Tulsa, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers were Bill Chronister, Danny Robertson, Glen Sherburn, Bobby Flurry, Clay Wiley and Steve Morse.

Elza Parker

Elza Parker, 81, of Clarksville died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of the Flat Rock Community, he was a son of the late Charlie and Effie Drummond Parker, retired truck driver, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Carter Parker.

Survivors include two daughters, Delores Crockett of St. Louis, Mo., and Sara Gardner of Ward; two sons, Elza Ray Parker of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Billy Joe Parker of St. Louis, Mo.; four sisters, Bessie Faulkner and Dorothy Hepp, both of Flat Rock, Beatrice Smith of Russellville, and Bonnie Whittle of Knoxville; three brothers, Joe Bill Parker, Jim Parker, and Slim Parker, all of Flat Rock; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dade Kindrix officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Cowell, Rick Parker, Glen Parker, Edmond (Bo) Parker, Clifford Bates, and Trenton Bates.

Gary L. Kimbriel

Gary Leo Kimbriel, 51, of Oark died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a son of the late Vollie Kimbriel and Hattie Ritchie Kimbriel Cummins, a Baptist, musician, and was preceded in death by one brother, Mervin Kimbriel.

Survivors are one daughter, Melissa J. Higby of Rogers; three sisters, Deloris Cummins, Joyce Reynolds, and Dorothy Criss, all of Oark; and four brothers, twin, Larry Joe Kimbriel of Oark, Doy Kimbriel and Eddie Kimbriel, both of Clarksville, and Melvin Kimbriel of Oark.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Clayton Rylee officiating. Burial will be in Oark Cemetery.

Mrs. Gladys J. Little

Mrs. Gladys Juanita Little, 78, of Borger, Texas, mother of Richard Little of Clarksville, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Panhandle, Texas.

She was a native of Collins County, Texas, former resident of Albuquerque, N. M., member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene and was active in the TOPS Club for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Little; one other son, Wally Little of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Durward Mills of Howe, Texas; one sister, Florene Scott of Dallas, Texas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Trinity Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ron Ellington, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in "The Garden of Devotion" at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger, Texas.

Mrs. Hazel Jean Sears

Mrs. Hazel Jean Sears, 59, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock.

She was a member of Mt. Vernon Community Church, retired Tyson employee, daughter of the late Willie Hylton and Bessie Hatchett, and was preceded in death by one sister, Anita Bible.

Survivors include her husband, James Sears; two daughters, Teresa Bostwick and Tamara Jones, both of Clarksville; one son, Craig Sears of Clarksville; four sisters, Janice Burns of Amarillo, Texas, Betty Brown of Washington, Rita Borne of Knoxville, and Glenda Glasscock of Clarksville; three brothers, Bob Hylton and Jerry Hylton, both of Clarksville, and Michael Hylton of Arkoma, Okla.; four grandchildren, Nathan Bostwick, Chenoa Carey, Michael Joyner, and C. J. Sears; and one great-grandchild, Ashley Joyner.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos E. Pledger officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Harvey Ben Turner

Harvey Ben Turner, 74, of Huntsville died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Meadowview Lodge Nursing Home in Huntsville.

A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Clara Owens Adams and Vernon Turner, a graduate of Ozark High School, United States Army veteran of World War II, past state commander of the American Legion, auctioneer, Baptist, and a retired businessman having owned and operated Turner’s Insurance Agency, Madison County Feed Store and Turner’s Furniture for many years.

He is survived by one son, Lonnie Ferguson of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon Kaye Yoder of Pensacola, Fla., and Diane Hargis of Huntsville; six sisters, Melba Skinner, Joann Acord, Ruby Tolton, Bernell Hopkins, Virgie Carter and Bernice Mayner, all of Ozark; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Brashears Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Dean Morris officiating. Burial was in Huntsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Scott Simmons, John Simmons, Jamie Simmons, Ben Ferguson, Mike Hargis, and Kenny Yarbrough.

Jamie Lynn Riggs

Jamie Lynn Riggs, 21, of Dover died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at AMI St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

He was a native of Clarksville and a 1997 graduate of Dover High School.

Survivors include his parents, Ruben and Juanita Riggs of Dover; one brother, Aaron Riggs of Dover; maternal grandmother, Ruby Norton of Dover; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at the Owens Cemetery at Dover with Jared Mason officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Active pallbearers were Kenny Riggs, Richard Riggs, Joshua Mathews, Robert Seward, Alan Stubbs, Larry Stubbs, Jason Seward, and Travis Riggs.

First cousins served as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Lois L. Felkins

Mrs. Lois Lorene Smith Felkins, 83, died Dec. 31, 1999, in Tulsa, Okla.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late George and Nan Smith, widow of Marvin G. Felkins, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Smith and Claude Smith; one sister, Jetty Lipps; and one grandson.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Cathy) Felkins Jr. of Independence, Kan.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Ray Abdo of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews in the Clarksville area.

Funeral was Jan. 7 in Tulsa, Okla., with burial at Broken Arrow, Okla.

Mrs. Maurine Patterson

Mrs. Maurine Patterson, 91, of Clarksville and Van Buren, died Sunday in the home of her daughter, Beth Patterson DuVall. She is the widow of Vernon Melton Patterson of Clarksville.

A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, January 26 at 11:00 am in the Woodland Baptist Church north of Clarksville; the funeral is open to the public. A graveside service and interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Mrs. Patterson was born on August 15, 1908, to Virgil T. and Martha (Redding) Sanders, in Hubbard, TX. She attended Hubbard High School, and graduated in 1926; she later attended The Texas State College for Women (College of Industrial Arts) and North Texas State Teacher’s College in Denton, TX, where she began studies for a career in elementary education. She first taught at the Bowman-Dale School in Hill County, TX, from 1928 to 1930, and at the Scott School, in rural communities outside of Hubbard. She later worked for the Sears, Roebuck, Co., in Dallas. She met her husband, Vernon Patterson, in Dallas, and the couple were married there on August 5, 1939; they moved back to Clarksville in 1943. After the accidental death of her husband in 1950 in the Woodland Community, Mrs. Patterson began teaching in the first grade at Michie School in Clarksville. She taught at Michie School until 1965 and then moved to Van Buren, where she continued teaching in the third grade at Sophia Meyer School. She retired at the end of the school year in 1976.

During her years in Clarksville, Mrs. Patterson was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth; two grandchildren, Evan DuVall of Van Buren, and Sarah DuVall Murray of Charlottesville, VA; one great-grandchild, Isaac Patrick Murray; her sister and brother-in-law, Lucile and J. T. Patterson of Clarksville; a niece and nephew, Ann Patterson of Little Rock and Dr. Jack Patterson of Clarksville.

Mrs. Mary Ann Riley

Mrs. Mary Ann Riley, 59, of Clarksville died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000.

She was a daughter of the late Virgil and Lizzie May Freeman.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky L. Villarreal and Lisa M. Martinez; one sister, Sarah Freeman; one brother, John Freeman; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Roller-Cox Chapel.

Mrs. Realon E. Bean

Mrs. Realon E. Houston Bean, 87, of Clarksville died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at her home.

A native of the Woodland Community, she was a daughter of the late Will and Nancy Self Houston, widow of Marvin Bean, member of the Stillwell Bible Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Danny Joe, four brothers, Lesley Houston, Roy Houston, George Houston, and Floyd Houston, and three sisters, Edith Williams, Beulah Hardgrave, and Eula Williams.

She is survived by four daughters, Wanda Mooney and Ann Skiles of Clarksville, Joy Stevens of Fort Smith and Nancy Welborn of Paron; four sons, Levon Bean and William Bean, both of Clarksville, and Jim Bean and Cecil Bean, both of Lamar; four sisters, Estelle Stutts and Leoma Atkins, both of Clarksville, Mae Storts of Tahlequah, Okla., and Pauline Gobel of El Cajon, Calif.; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Stillwell Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Goodman officiating.

Burial was in Lone Pine Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruby Faye Jones

Mrs. Ruby Faye Jones, 70, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000.

She was a daughter of the late Martin and Virginia Carol Pruitt Nichols, widow of Horace B. Jones, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Donanna Koivum of Heber Springs and Connie Crane of Davenport, Iowa; one son, Garry Jones of Hunt; two sisters, Jessie Burnett of Ozark and Frankie Morrow of Mulberry; one brother, Mart (Junior) Nichols of Ozark; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Coal Hill Church of Christ with John Ballard officiating.

Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Rose E. Ragsdale

Rose Etta Pelham Ragsdale, 81, of Russellville died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at her home.

A native of Fort Douglas, she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Roxie Collins Pelham, widow of James Willard Ragsdale, member of the Parker Hill Holiness Church, and was preceded in death by one son, James Leonard Ragsdale, and five siblings, Taff Pelham, Bertha Millsaps, Bessie Basinger, Nettie Millsaps and Effie Gunter.

She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, George and Juanita Ragsdale of Dover, Vernon and Rose Ragsdale of Stockton, Calif., Johnny Ragsdale of Dover, and Lowell and Fran Ragsdale of Conway; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Dean Williams, Betty and David Walters, and Eudola and David Pepper, all of Dover, and Gwenna and James Brandon of Russellville; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville with Rev. David Harrison, Rev. Bill Tucker, and Rev. Ken McCutcheon officiating. Burial was in Owens Cemetery at Dover.

Vernon Wayne Dalton

Vernon Wayne Dalton, 51, of Clarksville died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.

He was a retired coal miner, heavy equipment operator, and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Benita Danile Dalton; four sons, Kenny Dalton of Ozone and Rickey Dalton, Jody Dalton and Jason Smith, all of Clarksville; parents, William (Bill) and Ada Dalton of Clarksville; two sisters, Vickie Carter of Coal Hill and Tracy Moore of Perryville; five brothers, Jimmy Dalton of Dover, Bill Joe Dalton of Hartman, Jonny Dalton of Hagarville, and Marty Dalton and George Dalton, both of Spadra; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Roller-Cox Chapel with David Zeiler officiating. Burial will be in Hays Chapel Cemetery.
