Garland O. Johnson

Garland O. Johnson, 80, of Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Bethany Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

A native of the Lone Pine Community, he was a son of the late George and Vestal Odom Johnson, member of the Lone Pine Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Navy veteran of World War II, and was a warehouse specialist for Hallmark for 31 years prior to retiring.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Willa Baskin Johnson; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary L. and Norma Johnson of Eureka Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and John Schaffer of Lakeside, Calif.; one granddaughter and spouse, Robyn and Steve Bowman of Lakeside, Calif.; one grandson, Joshua Schaffer of Lakeside, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Dalton Bowman, Rachel Bowman, and Lane Schaffer, all of Lakeside, Calif.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Burley King officiating. Burial will be in Lone Pine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Buel Porter, John Schaffer, Joshua Schaffer, Jay Clark Baskin, Steve Bowman, and Abe Laster Jr.

Mrs. Linda R. Lamb

Mrs. Linda Roberts Lamb, 54, of Knoxville died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Crossett, she was a daughter of the late Jess Willard Roberts, a speech and ninth grade English teacher at Dover High School and had taught in schools in Hamburg, Bauxite and the Little Rock district and at Bayshore Christian School in Tampa, Fla. She was also a former employee of the Ashley County Ledger in Hamburg and a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Central Presbyterian Church in Russellville.

Survivors include her husband, Phil Lamb; two sons, Phillip and Deven Lamb, both of the home; and her mother, Louise Roberts of the home.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the Central Presbyterian Church in Russellville with Rev. Dick Shinkle and Rev. Ira Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Clifford, Jamie Churchill, Steve Leavell, Mike Lee, Mark Tucker, and Dudley Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Dover High School and the staff of The Courier in Russellville.

Mrs. Vera Atkinson

Mrs. Vera V. Atkinson, 90, of Clarksville died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

She was a daughter of the late James and Nora Horn Hatchett, widow of Aubrey Atkinson, retired salesperson, member of the Church of Christ, Order of the Eastern Star, and Crape Myrtle Garden Club, and was preceded in death by one son, Dolan Atkinson, one brother, Pete Hatchett, and two sisters, Hazel Havener and Juanita Walker.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Sible Hatchett of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews including Linda Garland of Clarksville and Danny Wood of Tulsa, Okla.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with John Ballard and Vernon Bass officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Mike Bean, Greg Clinebell, Dennis Steele, Duane Steele, Denton Tumbleson, and Aubrey Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers were Argie Kendall, Stanley Brown, Elvin Brown, James Horn, Luther Hodge, and Norman Fortney.

Mrs. Virginia Randolph

Mrs. Virginia Randolph, 71, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in a Van Buren nursing home.

A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Helen Carroll Quillin, a nurse's aide for Crawford Memorial Hospital and a member of Rena Road Church of Christ in Van Buren.

Survivors include her husband, Lee J. Randolph; three daughters, Linda Smith of Claremore, Okla., Jeanette Frantz of Ocala, Fla., and Carolyn Griffin of Fort Smith; two sons, Tommy Randolph of Mulberry and Del Randolph of Cedarville; one brother, Robert Quillin of Edmond, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Rena Road Church of Christ with Wendell Needham officiating followed by graveside services and burial at 3 p.m. at Srygley Cemetery in Coal Hill. Arrangements were under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
