Allene McGuire, 78, of Paris died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Ozark Nursing Home.

She was a native of Oark, daughter of the late Solomon and Dorcas Mays Davis, widow of Floyd McGuire, and member of the Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Crouch of Ozark; four sons, Danny McGuire, Robert McGuire and Darrell McGuire, all of Paris, and Gary McGuire of Altus; one sister, Maggie Martin of Huntsville; ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Martin and Rev. George Willis officiating. Burial was in Patterson Springs Cemetery at Oark.

Active pallbearers were Clay Allsopp, Kevin Crouch, Errick Ellington, Randy Furr, Phil Horne, and Jackie Moeller.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny McGuire, Robert O'Conner, and Daniel McGuire.

Andrew Jerrel McGaughey, 81, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.

He was a native of Casscoe, mechanic, attended First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Cooper and Minta Mae Appleby McGaughey; two brothers, William Andrew McGaughey and Wilber McGaughey; and one sister, Marie Stephens.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Angeney McGaughey; three daughters, Jeri A. Loomis and Etta L. Simser, both of Arizona, and Brenda S. Hubbard of North Carolina; four sons, William A. McGaughey and Robert T. Moore, both of Clarksville, Donald E. Moore of Elgin, S.C., and Andrew J. McGaughey of California; one sister, Bernice Payer of Casscoe; one sister-in-law, Ruth McGaughey of Casscoe; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Dr. Robert H. Basham, 92, of Greenwood, formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Peachtree Hospice in Fort Smith.

He was a son of the late Harry and Lou Riddle Basham, member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, spent 21 years in the U.S. Navy and 21 years as a history professor at the University of the Ozarks, and was preceded in death by his wife, Iladean Basham.

He is survived by one daughter, Alison Kotarek of Greenwood; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville with Rev. Cathy Ulrich officiating.

Private burial was in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Fannie Agnes Anglin, 79, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Legacy in Fort Smith.

She was a former resident of Hartman, native of Cleveland County, Okla., daughter of the late Elbert Clay and Mary Edna Gifford, widow of Roy Anglin, retired nurse's aid at Oaks Lodge of Fort Smith, member of Faith Baptist Church of Fort Smith, and was preceded in death by one infant child and one brother, Donald Gifford of Fort Smith.

She is survived by one sister, Mavis Roberson of McRae; three brothers, Richard Anglin of Cabot, Jimmy Anglin of Booneville, and Joe Anglin of McClain, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Hess Cemetery at Coal Hill

Pallbearers will be Rick Anglin, Alvin Anglin, Kelly Henry, Pastor Paul Sherrouse, Josh Sherrouse, and Jacob Henry.

James Milton Johnson, 77, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Lamar, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.

He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Homer Benton and Erie Freeman Johnson, graduate of Lamar High School, Army veteran of the Korean War, retired Atlas Life Insurance Company employee, and was preceded in death by one brother, Dwaine Johnson.

He is survived by one daughter, Tanya Dickinson of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Mike Johnson of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Velma Lee Whitbey of Russellville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Lamar Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Johnson, Derick Strong, Berry Dickinson, Colton Dickinson, Dennie Boen, and Chris Sims.

Marie Leavell Foster, 84, of Russellville, mother of Mary Foster of Hartman, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Legacy Lodge Nursing Home.
She was a native of Moreland, daughter of the late Euel V. “Cap” and Chloe Duvall Leavell, widow of Odis "Hignight" Foster, 1945 graduate of Dover High School, member of TOPS for 34-plus years, and was preceded in death by one son, Fred Steven Foster.

Survivors include two sons, Mike A. Foster of Russellville and John A. Foster of Dardanelle; one other daughter, Janette Rogers of Russellville; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Frances Leavell of Moreland; two sisters, Helen Simpson of Purcell, Okla., and Bobbie Foster of Visalia, Calif.; three grandchildren, Prentis and Chris Rogers, and Crystal Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Mary and T. J. Rogers, and Lily Williams.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Hudson Cemetery in Moreland with Joe Leavell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Robbie Lee Gould, 92, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of the Harmony Community, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Nora Pryor Hartlein, widow of Argus Gould, member of Clarksville First Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Larry Gould.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley McCarley of Fort Smith and Nancy Dean and husband, C.L., of Alma; one son, Jimmy Gould and wife, Jerry, of Clarksville; nine grandchildren, Delania Owen and husband, Ed, of Jonesboro, Johnny Dean and wife, Lori, of Alma, Jody Gould and wife, Keren, of Tennessee, Steve Dean of Alma, David Dean and wife, Kim, of Tennessee, Jacob Gould of Fayetteville, Jeff Dean and wife, Heather, of Van Buren, and Jerry L. Gould and Ben Gould, both of Clarksville; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at the First Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Darrell Bridges and Rev. Billy Usery officiating.

Burial was in Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Stephen Byron Seekins, 62, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.

He was a native of Belfast, Maine, son of the late David A. and Dorothy G. McTire Seekins, Baptist,  labor employee, and was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Ralph; and one brother, David Seekins.

Survivors include his wife, Ine Eva Maness Seekins; one daughter, Aivida Rose Maness of Alabama; one son, Jeffery Joe Maness of Alabama; one sister, E. Rose Jekins of Booneville; two brothers, Wallace Pearce and Richard Seekins, both of Maine; 24 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating.

Active pallbearers were Jason Maness, Mike Morse, Jason Stockdale, Jake Hill, David Maness Jr., and Leon Hill.

Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Brewer, Bobby Balkcom, Jess McCarver, David Maness, and Charles Maness.

The body was cremated.

Truman Walter Jones, 75, of Altus, father of Kevin Jones of Ozone, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Paris to Walter and Doris Burnett Jones and was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Shaffer Jones; one daughter, Lesa Howell of Ozark; one other son, Don Shaffer of Altus; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Crematory arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

William Jennings Stubblefield, 92, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Ashton Place in Barling.

He was a native of Gallatin, Tenn., preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Dodson, and was employed for 35 years by the Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco, Calif., as construction manager throughout the United States and Canada.

He is survived by one daughter, Amy Poinsette of Florence, S.C.

There was no funeral service.

The body was cremated under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Mary Josephine (Jo) Scott Plugge, 85, died Monday, Feb. 08, 2010. She was born on July 29, 1924, to George Scott and Jessie Ball Scott in Tulsa, Okla., where she spent her early childhood. As a young girl she moved with her family to Hartman, AR, where she met her future husband and companion of more than 50 years, Wilfred R. (Fred) Plugge. They were inseparable as they traveled and explored the world together. Returning to Tulsa after retirement, they were members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and Jo later attended St. Benedict Church in Broken Arrow. Jo will be remembered for her spirit, her contagious smile and her courage as she battled many health issues these past years. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. We will miss her.

Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father William Wewers and Abbott Jerome Kodell officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery near Hartman.

Active pallbearers will be David Freeland, Robert Hilton, Roman Plugge, Larry Plugge, Charles Plugge, and Kevin Wiederkehr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Collier, David Weichert, Bill Kinkead, Randy Hilton, Gary Wiederkehr, Russell Plugge, Wayne Plugge, and John Plugge.

Mrs. Ashworth, 90, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on February 5, 2010 at White Oak Manor.  She was born on December 7, 1919 in Clarksville, Johnson County, AR, a daughter of the late John Oscar and Clyde Mason Blackard.  She married her husband John Alfred Ashworth, Jr. in 1942, and was a homemaker her entire life.

Mrs. Ashworth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.  She was passionate about her country, doll collecting, sewing, genealogy and bird watching.  She and her husband loved traveling the country in their Airstream pulled by Big Blue.  Mrs. Ashworth was a long time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), The  National Society of US Daughters of 1812,  the Doll Club of Oklahoma City and a charter Member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Ashworth spent the last 6 years enjoying life and her friends at Sharon Village Retirement Apartments.

She is survived by her son, John Alfred Ashworth, III and wife Anne Wilson Ashworth of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Dana Ashworth Long and husband Matthew Wendell Long of Charlotte, NC, Marcia Ashworth Scott and her husband Mark Curtis Scott of Jamestown, NC and John Alfred Ashworth, IV and his wife Shana Stewman Ashworth of Charlotte, NC; four great-grandchildren, Matthew James and Jonathon Thomas Long of Charlotte, NC, Mark Winfield Scott of Jamestown, NC, and McKinley Anne Ashworth of Charlotte, NC; brother Fred Blackard and wife Dorothy Blackard of Concord, CA, sister Emma Mae Darrow of Quinlan, TX.; numerous nieces and nephews; best friend, Judy Gaynor of Charlotte, NC. 

Her husband John, of 42 years, her parents, sister Raynette Johnson, and brothers William and Robert Blackard preceded Mrs. Ashworth in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Harry & Bryant Company, “Chapel in the Oaks”, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte.  The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
