Alberta Trew

Alberta Trew, mother of Carol Yandell of Clarksville, died Friday, April 26, 2002.

She was a member of the Clarksville First United Methodist Church, Power Circle and Friendship Sunday School Class, retired guidance counselor and known for her music ministry in numerous Methodist churches in Connecticut, Long Island, and Florida, and widow of Hugh James Trew, a retired Methodist minister. She was preceded in death by two children, Connie Posey and Royal Trew; and one sister, Carol Noren.

Survivors include one other daughter, Marilyn McGrath of Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Robert Trew of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Helen Cheney of Port Richie, 14 grandchildren, including Colleen Rodonski and Coral Gould of Clarksville; and 24 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the Clarksville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating.

Beverly L. Mickey

Graveside services for Beverly Lorraine Lewis Mickey, 69, of Ratcliff, who died Sunday, April 28, 2002, in Fort Smith, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Lone Pine Cemetery near Clarksville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Fowler, Billy Ritchie, Che' Zuniga, Fred Probst, Jeff Howard, and Tyler Hopkins.

Jason Johnson will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

She was a daughter of the late Burton I. and Eva Mae Whington Lewis and was preceded in death by one brother, Manley Lewis; and one sister, Tura Lee Lewis.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Mickey; four daughters, Bobbie Joe Richardson of Clarksville, Roberta Doolan of Paso Robles, Calif., and Tura Lee Fowler and Eva Shepherd, both of Muskogee, Okla.; two sisters, Elenore Berggren of Oregon and Collette Stevens of California; two brothers, Rance Lewis and Truman Lewis, both of California; 22 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Doris Mae West

Doris Mae West, 85, of Springfield, Mo., died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Saint John's Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

She and her late husband, Joseph R. (Joe) West were owners and operators of numerous restaurants in the Clarksville area for over four decades.

A native of Dover, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Dalton Daily, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Duffy and Inez Daily; and two brothers, William and Dalton Daily.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joe Ann and Billy Bock of Pine Bluff; one son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Teresa West of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren and spouses, Kellie and Jeff Cohen of Fort Smith, Kim Buck of Texarkana, Texas, Kraig Bock of Austin, Texas, Kirk and Lillian Bock of Harrison, and Stephanie and Bruce Cline of Springfield, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren, Katie Cohen of Fort Smith, Jennifer and Jessica Buck of Texarkana, Texas, Garrett and Caroline Bock of Harrison; Jordan Wallace, Shelly, Derek and Kasey West, all of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Pauline Bingham of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Genevieve Germani of North Carolina; three brothers, J. B. Daily of Ash Flat, Jack Daily of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Bob Daily of Valdosta, Ga.; four sisters-in-law and spouses, Jimmie Lou and Bob Trusty of Russellville, Patsy and J. C. Ables of Hot Springs, Josephine West of Russellville and Louise West Kendrick of Russellville; and two brothers-in-law and spouse, Joe L. Johnson of Russellville and Covie and Ruby West of Ardmore, Okla.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Doug Little officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery at Clarksville.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Kirk Bock, Jeff Cohen, Bruce Cline, and Derek West.

Earnest Barnett

Earnest Barnett, 81, of Pettigrew died Monday, April 29, 2002, at his home.

He was a farmer, son of the late Tom and Alice Seals Barnett, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gregory Barnett; one son, Junior Barnett; two sisters, Ruby Rogers and Clara Hill; and one brother, Earl Barnett.

Survivors are one daughter, Louise Johnson of Pettigrew; one sister, Bertha Gregory of Pettigrew; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Yale Church with Rev. Jimmy Bennett officiating.

Burial will be in Yale Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Gregory, Steven Weir, Billy Gregory, Mike Gregory, Lois Rogers, and Wayne Gregory.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Barnett Smith, Kaylea Johnson, Trista Smith, Larry Gregory, Gary Gregory, Randy Gregory, Doug Dickson, Levon Rogers, and Keith Rogers.

Ella Ruth Walker

Ella Ruth Walker, 75, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a daughter of the late John A. and Sarah A. Matox Proctor, member of Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God, and a retired candy factory employee.

Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie and Ludy Parks of Clarksville; two sisters, Polly Avey of Yellville and Sue Hoffman of Corning, Iowa; four grandchildren, Valery Parks, Joanetta Paniagua, Johnnie Parks Jr., and Earl Parks; three stepgrandchildren, Kandi Sweet, Stephen Watson, and Rachel Philyaw; six great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Harmony Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

George A. Higgins

George Allen Higgins, 64, of Lamar died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.

He was a son of the late William C. and Captola Sutton Higgins, Baptist, and retired Tyson Foods employee.

Survivors include his widow, Patricia Lou Bradley Higgins; one daughter, Henrietta Scamardo of Lavaca; three sons, Barney Higgins and C. W. Higgins, both of Clarksville, and Clifford Higgins of Lamar; five stepsons, Cecil J. Morland of West Fork, Larry Wayne Morland of Ozone, John Mark Morland of Lamar, and Gary Lynn Morland and Dale Havener, both of Clarksville, four sisters, Geneive Roland of Grants Pass, Ore., Carolyn Phelps of Coal Hill, Brenda Bowman of Guthrie, Okla., and Linda Rhinehart of Paris; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger and Rev. Sally Ladd officiating. The body was cremated.

Iva P. Ragsdale

Iva Partain Ragsdale, 87, of Russellville died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

A daughter of the late Alex and Lucy Clayton Partain, she was a native of Dover, widow of Robert Ragsdale, attended the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by five sisters, Minnie Dale, Rose Murphy, Loyal Jones, Lillie Merrit, and Juanita Partain; and one great-granddaughter, Dawn Marie King.

Survivors include three daughters, Jewell Sparks of Lamar, Minnie Huffman of Hector, and Pearl Henry of Lone Grove, Okla.; one brother, Clayton Partain of Atkins; one sister, Ruby Harris of Russellville; 17 grandchildren; 20-great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Ken Partain and Rev. Bob Freeman officiating. Burial was in Owens Cemetery near Dover.

Joe W. Stewart

Joe W. Stewart, 89, of Clarksville died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Brown and Leona Clark Stewart, member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, retired truck driver, and was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Wood Stewart.

He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Harderson of Clarksville and Mary Dwyer of Maumelle; two sons, Bill Stewart of Clarksville and Max Stewart of Fort Smith; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Stewart and Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Keith Stewart, Brent Coffee, Brad Coffee, Michael Don Stewart, Joseph Stewart, and Alex Harderson.
