Gladys Lorene Johnson

Gladys Lorene Johnson, 99, of Hartman died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at her home.

She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late Thomas Lancaster and Birdie Beatrice Marvel Collier, widow of Arnold Forben Johnson, member of Hartman Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Hector Chapell Johnson; two daughters, Liladean Johnson and Ruth Orlena Fultz; three grandsons, Jerald Wayne Johnson, Earnest (Bud) Fultz, and Thomas Johnson Jr.; one sister, Bearace Rinke; and one daughter-in-law, Helen (Rene) Johnson.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances (Tootle) Cohrs and companion, Burl McCartney of Clarksville, and Clara (B.B.) Harkreader and husband, Don, of Hartman; three sons, Tom (Louise) Johnson of Altus, Robert (Junior) Johnson and wife, Wilma, of Fort Smith and Charles (Chig) Johnson of Hartman; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the Hartman Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Glass, Rev. Tony Morgan and Rev. Eugene Scarberry officiating.

Burial was in Hartman Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were George Whittle, James Whittle, Willie Whittle, Paul Whittle, Donnie Harkreader, Rusty Johnson, and John Michael Johnson.
Gloria S. Bartlett

Gloria (Singleton) Bartlett, 68, of Altus was called by her heavenly father on Jan. 17, 2012. She was born April 11, 1943, in Granite City, Illinois, to Berlin and Thelma Smith Singleton. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed and loved many things, but most of all was her family. She will be remembered for her amazing strength and love, which was displayed throughout her entire life.

Funeral services were at 10:00 AM, Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Altus, Arkansas, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Glen Bartlett of Altus; one daughter, Jackie Morris Ballard of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two sons, Michael Bartlett and wife, Jennifer, of Ozark and Mark Bartlett and wife, Kim, of West Fork, Arkansas; one sister, Joanne Floyd of Daingerfield, Texas; one brother, Rick Singleton of Granite City, Illinois; Gloria’s pride and joy and greatest love was her four grandchildren, Lindsey Bartlett, Alex Ballard and Ryan and Joshua Bartlett.

The family visited with friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark.

Pallbearers were Darren, Dwayne and Doug Reeder, Michael Derryberry, Jim Niederriter and Danny Ward.

Harold Willis Jr.

Harold (Reece) Willis Jr., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the Veterans Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., of pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born July 29, 1942, in Lawton, Okla. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Reece Willis.

Survivors include his mother, Juanita Willis of Fremont, Calif.; three brothers, Stephen Willis of Sausalito, Calif., Marc Willis of Fredrick, Md., and Ralph Willis of Fremont, Calif.; nephew and niece, Zachary Willis and Catherine Willis, both of Maryland; and many cousins and friends.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a resident of California for 53 years. At his request, his body was cremated. No service was conducted. Some of his ashes will rest in the Minnow Creek Cemetery near Hagarville with other members of the Willis family.

The joy of his life was being an uncle to Zachary and Catherine Willis. For those who knew him, he will long be remembered for his sense of humor, his hugs and his generosity.

Harvey Albro Warren

Harvey Albro “Al” Warren, 79, of Clarksville, AR, died Thursday, January 19, 2012, at UAMS in Little Rock, AR. Born Sunday, October 16, 1932, to Herman and Velma Farris Warren, he was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Olen and Marvin Warren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Glenda, and his five children and their spouses: Alicia and Gary Pierson of Cumming, GA., James Warren of Dardanelle, AR, Melody and Art Sabatinelli of Lutz, FL., Angie and Mike Frizzell of Cabot, AR, and John and Meiko Warren of Clarksville, AR. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A member of East Mount Zion Trinity Baptist Church, Al was a devoted Christian and Sunday school teacher. He loved the Lord and was always ready to share his testimony. He was a grocery man for 60 years. He started his career working for Johnny Zimpel at Fairway Market in Clarksville. He managed a chain of Valley Foods grocery stores before owning and operating Sav-A-Sum grocery stores in Dardanelle and Atkins until 1976. He worked 25 years for Affiliated Foods Southwest as executive assistant to the president. In 2010 he started his own consulting firm and was currently working with Affiliated Foods of Amarillo, TX.

He was a mountain man, avid hunter and a devoted sports fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys. He always said he went to the woods to find peace and to talk to God. He loved his family and friends and leaves an incredible legacy behind. He will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be directed to the East Mount Zion Trinity Baptist Church building fund.

Brother Robbie Jackson conducted funeral services 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 23, 2012, at East Mount Zion Trinity Baptist Church. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery, Dardanelle, AR. Pallbearers were Perry Rutledge, John Smith, Billy Dickerson, Mike Warren, Bruce Warren, Don Hunt, Gary Johnson, and Bill Pitts. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Oberste, Marty Oberste, Mickey Harris, Clayton Caldwell, Kyle Southall, Scott Warren, special friend, Delmar Tapp, and the East Mount Zion Men’s Sunday school class. Visitation was from 2-4 Sunday. Services were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home, Clarksville, AR.

Janet S. Werner

Janet S. Howerton Smith Werner, 51, of Russellville, grandmother of Phoebe Aviendha Smith of Clarksville, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at her home.

A native of Russellville, she was a 17 year employee of Taco Villa and a 12 year employee of Grace Manufacturing.

Other survivors include her husband, Fred M. Werner; one son, James Robert Smith of Russellville; parents, Robert and Gladys Howerton of Pottsville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Tom Irving, Melissa and J.J. Johnson, and Angie and Tony Reynolds, all of Russellville; and four nieces and nephews, Misty Haggard, Keisha Parker, Jeremiah Johnson and Catlin Webster.

Crematory arrangements were under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.

Jeffery Scott Kilpatrick

Funeral for Jeffery Scott Kilpatrick, 44, of Little Rock, who died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at his home, was at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Little Rock with Rev. Tim Reed officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home.

Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Woodland Cemetery near Clarksville with Rev. Free Clower officiating.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, John Delbert Bramlett, V.E. (Pat) and Faye White Kilpatrick.

He was born to V.E. (Butch) Kilpatrick (Joan) of Brinkley and Sue Garrett (Ed) of Little Rock. Other survivors include siblings, Kimberly Kilpatrick Joiner (Chris), Karen Kilpatrick Broadway (Rowdy), Brad Banks (Libby) and Ronnie Banks; and grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Bramlett.
Lucille Hatman

Lucille Hatman, 91, of Salem died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012.

She was a native of Fayetteville, daughter of the late Bathis and Maggie Combs Roe, widow of Clifton Hatman, and a fourth grade teacher at Salem School for 30 years.

Survivors include one son, James Hatman of Clarksville; one daughter, Harriett Ricke of Shawnee Mission, Kan., one brother, Billy Jack Roe of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Salem Cemetery with Mike Yates officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Martha Rutledge

Martha Rutledge, 88, of Hagarville died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012.

She was a native of Mt. Levi, daughter of the late Jesse Monroe and Hattie Clementine Patterson Graves, widow of Lex Rutledge, member of the Hagarville Church of Christ, and former and last postmaster at the Mt. Levi Post Office.

Survivors include one son, William Monroe (Margaret) Rutledge of Lamar; two daughters, Sandra (Bobby) Mitchell of Clarksville and Brenda Ruth Whittmore of Hagarville; one brother, William Graves of Hagarville; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Graves of Fort Smith and Elizabeth Graves of Clarksville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Clarksville Church of Christ with John Ballard officiating.

Burial was in Hagarville Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Travis Rutledge, Jordan Rutledge, Ira Mitchell, Jamie Whittmore, Clayton Whittmore, Darren Whittmore, John Colwell, and Zack York.

Wilhemina M. Hayes

Wilhemina Marie Triche Hayes, 59, of Hartman died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at her home.

She was a native of Waggaman, La., former resident of Monticello, where she was a member of Friendship Pentecostal Church of God, widow of William Ronald Hayes, and daughter of the late Josephine Adams.

Survivors include one son, William Pamplin of Clarksville; three daughters, Michelle Spears and Sherry Carter, both of Clarksville, and Lorie Kemp of White Hall; one brother, Anthony Adams of Monticello; one sister, Valerie Pamplin of Hamburg; one stepson, Ronnie Hayes of Monticello; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren with burial in Outlaw Cemetery at Sumpter.
Leona Marie Goodin

Leona Marie Goodin, 87, of Russellville, mother-in-law of Debbie Goodin of Coal Hill, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Paris Health and Rehabilitation.

She was a native of Bixby, Okla., daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Donna Marie Willis Buffalo, widow of Guy L. Goodin, preschool teacher in Ventura, Calif., and Dardanelle, member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Arbor Tree Foundation, grief counseling volunteer in Russellville for many years, and was preceded in death by three sons, Bob Goodin, Billy Goodin, and Guy Francis Goodin; two granddaughters, Brenda Grissom and daughter, Dani, and Cindy Moody and son, Cody; and two brothers, John Marvin Buffalo and Robert Cecil Buffalo.

Other survivors include five daughters, Lorinda Wise and husband, Joe, of Richland Hills, Texas, Phyllis Lanoy Sloan and husband, Don, of Russellville, Clarissa Lickliter of Mulberry, Jessie Goodin of Oxnard, Calif., and Maria Earls and husband, Erbie, of London; one son, Brian Goodin of Richland Hills, Texas; one sister, Grace Novian; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Paul Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Humphrey Funeral Service.
