Bettinna Williams Price
Bettinna Williams Price, 39, of
Omaha, whose brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Patricia Price,
reside in Clarksville, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.
She was a native of Russellville,
daughter of the late Jerry Price, member of Living Church of God in
Springfield, Mo., employee of Carolina Mills in Branson, Mo., and was
preceded in death by grandparents, James and Ruth Gillian, Lewis and
Evelyn Boaz, and Raymond Price; and nieces and nephews.
Other survivors include her husband,
Wake Williams; mother, Gail Price of Omaha; three sons, Terry Cooper of
London, and Justin Cooper and Dakota Williams of Omaha; three
daughters, Ashley Cooper of Russellville, and Kayla Cooper and Meagan
Price of Omaha; one sister, Gena Ward and husband, Paul, of Green
Forest; niece, Keisha Wilson and children of Green Forest; and aunt,
Judy Boaz of Omaha.
Celebration of life was at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 20, at New Hope Baptist Church in Omaha with Carl
Biersborfer officiating.
Burial was in New Hope Cemetery
under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home of Green Forest.
Elizabeth Wood Leiter
Elizabeth Adkins Wood Leiter, 98, of
San Angelo, Texas, formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010.
She was a native of the Harmony
Community, daughter of the late Joe and Sydney Porter Adkins, widow of
Lonnie Wood and Kim Leiter, formerly employed as a nurse's aide at
Clarksville Hospital and for various doctors in town prior to becoming
a nurse at the University of the Ozarks where she retired after 22
years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in
Clarksville for 40-plus years before moving to San Angelo, Texas, where
she joined Glen Meadows Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one
son, John (J.L.) Wood; one daughter, Betty Sue Mack; one granddaughter,
Mary Jane Pitts; two sisters, Bernice Hunt and Gladys Miracle; and two
brothers, Arlen Adkins and Lee Adkins.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby
Joe Wood and wife, Sondra, and Billy Don Wood and wife, Pat; four
grandchildren and spouses, Mike (Alice) Wood, Karen (Tony) Varnell,
Carol Peel, and Kenny (Denise) Mack; 10 great-grandchildren, Christina
Butler, Jessica and Megan Varnell, Jenny, Jeff, Justin, and Jessica
Mack, Barry Peel, Christy Caldwell, and John David Pitts; and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 27, prior to the funeral at 2 p.m. at Hardwicke Funeral
Home Chapel in Clarksville with Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Burial
will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Ellen L. Johnson
Ellen Lorene Daniel Johnson, 85, of
Lamar died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010.
She was retired from raising cattle
and as an Avon representative, daughter of the late Seldon and Ada
Reynolds Daniel, widow of Dayton Johnson, and was preceded in death by
two sisters, Helen Colvin and Ruth Cowell.
She is survived by one daughter,
Teressa Shaw of Lamar; two sons, S.D. Colvin and Charles Colvin, both
of Lamar; three sisters, Louise Miller of Clarksville, Anna Bruce of
Bloomfield, Mo., and Mary Causey of Sikeston, Mo.; one brother, James
Daniel of Lamar; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan.
22, at Holman Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Geno Johnston and Rev.
Herbert Tilley officiating.
Burial was in Holman Cemetery under
the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Ethelreda F. Hughes
Ethelreda Furstenburg Hughes, 78,
of Double Springs, Ala., formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday,
Jan. 17, 2010, at her home.
She was a native of Paris, daughter
of the late Frank and Dora Furstenburg, member of Our Lady of Guadalupe
in Haleyville, Ala., and was preceded in death by her first husband,
Billy Joe Burnett; infant children, Joseph Burnett and Laura Hughes;
two sisters, Ann Konert and Juanita Scarpetta; and one brother, Tommy
Furstenburg.
Survivors include her husband, James
R. Hughes; children and spouses, Teri (Don) Burnett Chavers of Lamar,
Mike Burnett of Clarksville, Bill Burnett of Acworth, Ga., Eddy (Kathy)
Burnett of Woodruff, S.C., James A. (Tina) Hughes of Summerville, S.C.,

a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, Ala., with
Father Tim Pfander officiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in
Double Springs, Ala.
Shirley Jean Schober
Shirley Jean McDonald Schober, 71,
of Barling, formerly of Lamar, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at St.
Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
A native of Etowah, she was a
daughter of the late Nomer and Bertha Hivley McDonald, retired, member
of First Methodist Church of Barling, and was preceded in death by four
sisters, Marie Jones, Frances McCallum, June Hall, and Nina Tadlock;
and two brothers, Odell McDonald and Cleason McDonald.
She is survived by one daughter,
Rhonda Jean Stacks of Norfork; two sons, Randy Delano Roddy of Lavaca
and Phillip Wayne Roddy of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Olean Curtright
of Osceola; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan.
25, at Brockwell Tabernacle with Rev. Rick Burke officiating.
Burial was at Violet Hill Cemetery
under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Patricia Darlene Harvey Webb
August 27, 1944 – January 23, 2010
Patricia “Pat” Harvey Webb, 65,
passed away on January 23, 2010, at the San Ramon Regional Medical
Center in San Ramon, California, surrounded by both family and friends.
Patricia was born August 27,
1944, at home, in the Woodland Community, Johnson County, Arkansas, to
St. Elmo and Norma Frances Hudson Harvey.
Patricia graduated from
Clarksville High School in 1962 and from the University of Arkansas at
Little Rock, in 1966, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing.
Upon graduating from College, Patricia was commissioned a 2nd
Lieutenant in the United States Army Nurse Corps. She served her first
year at Fort Ord, California and finished with the 121st Evacuation
Hospital in South Korea, leaving the service at the rank of
Captain.
Patricia received her
Master’s Degree from University of California at San Francisco in 1979
and her Doctorate in Education from the University of San Francisco in
1996.
Patricia worked at the Post
Hospitals at Fort Ord, California, and Fort Polk, Louisiana, before
moving to California in 1973. Patricia worked for a period of time at
the Pittsburg Community Hospital, in Pittsburg, and the Mt. Diablo
Hospital in Concord, before receiving a teaching position at Samuel
Merritt College of Nursing in Oakland in 1983. Now called Samuel
Merritt University, Patricia taught critical care nursing at both the
undergraduate and graduate level.
Patricia is survived by her
three sons, Scott, 31, and his wife Julia, of Santa Barbara,
California; Matthew, 27, his wife Michelle, and their son Michael
Monroe, of Fort Belvoir, Virginia; David, 27, and his wife Nicole, of
Pasadena, California; two sisters: Pauline Harvey Padgett and Shirley
Ann Harvey Hicks, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; four brothers: John Leon
Harvey, K. P. and his wife Geneva Harvey, Howard Elwin Harvey, and
Harold Wayne Harvey; Patricia is also survived by numerous nephews and
nieces.
Patricia was a friend,
counselor and confidante to many, but above all she was a beautiful
person, a loving mother, and a kind sister. Besides her love for
teaching at the University of Samuel Merritt, Patricia’s other passions
included passing her days reading at home, taking care of her yard, and
fussing over her three grown children. Patricia also loved spending as
much time as possible with her grandson Michael, receiving pictures and
videos of him and updates on the milestones he had
achieved.
The family will be holding a
Memorial Service at 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 28th, at the First
Baptist Church in Benicia, immediately followed by a reception.
Memorial contributions will be directed towards a Scholarship fund in
Patricia’s honor to be awarded to a qualified clinical student at
Samuel Merritt College.Services in Arkansas will be held on Tuesday,
February 2nd, at 10:00, a.m., at the Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel
followed by burial in the family plot at Shady Grove Cemetery,
Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas. Reception to follow after
services.
