Jimmy Dale Upton


Jimmy Dale Upton, 64, of Clarksville died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Stuttgart.

He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late James Paul and Shirley Hinson Upton, and owner of Upton Monument Company for 28 years.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Greg Buckner of Paris, Shannon and Jeff Jones of Stuttgart, and Sheila and Tim Oakes of Collierville, Tenn.; one son and daughter-in-law, Major James Bruce and Tammy Upton of Fort Polk, La.; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sharon Upton of Clarksville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Stillwell Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Buckner, Jeff Jones, Tim Oakes, Jett Jones, Avery Buckner, and Justin White.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith King, Louie Don Leeds and Gene Leeds.

Memorials may be made to Johnson County Boys and Girls Club, P. O. Box 301, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Maria Rosa Juanes


Maria Rosa Juanes, 58, of Clarksville died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of La Luz Rio Grande Zac, Mexico, she was a daughter of the late Rosalio and Maria Reyes Ramirez Ceballos, and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Narciso Juanes; three daughters, Ma. Rosario Juanes of Mexico, and Francisca Juanes and Cecilia Juanes, both of Clarksville; three sons, Jose L. Juanes and Narciso Juanes, both of Clarksville, and Isaias Juanes of Mexico; one sister, Hermelinda Delgado of Clarksville; four brothers, Luis Ceballas and Ismael Ceballos, both of Mexico, and Abel Ceballos and Domingo Ceballos, both of Clarksville; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. William Wewers, O.S.B., officiating.

Burial was in Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Eduardo Delgado, Abel Ceballos, Ismael Ceballos, Luis Ceballos, Domingo Ceballos and Isaias Juanes.

Robert H. Evans


Robert H. Evans, 74, of Clarksville died Monday, March 15, 2004, at his home.

He was a native of North Carolina, son of the late Randall and Bessie Evans, member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, and veteran of the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart.

Survivors include his widow, Lillian Russell Evans; two sisters, Blois Troupe of North Carolina and Marie Evans of Georgia; two brothers, Ralph Evans and John Evans, both of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Rosa B. Van Loh


Rosa Belle Van Loh, 91, of Sacramento, Calif., mother of Luther Franklin Mays of Oark, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004.

She was a native of Louisiana, former resident of Catalpa, daughter of the late Abner and Etta Eggers, widow of James Thomas Mays, former assistant postmaster at Oark, postmaster at Catalpa for two years, and in 1946 married Robert Hubbard. She was preceded in death by three sons, James Thomas Mays Jr., Rodney Dale Mays, and Willard Wayne Hubbard; one son-in-law, J. L. Melson; and eight siblings.

Among the survivors are one daughter, Oleander Mays Melson of Sacramento, Calif.; one other son and daughter-in-law, John Robert and Carol Hubbard of Rio Linda, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
