Bernardo Santiago

Bernardo Santiago, 73, of Clarksville died Monday, April 15, 2002, at his home.

He was retired and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bennie Santiago Jr. of Delano, Calif., and Raymond and Lona Santiago of Clarksville; parents, Jesus and Candida Torres Santiago; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Valentina and Emilo Mora and Bonefacia Santos, all of Chicago, Ind.; two brothers, Maximino Santiago of Puerto Rico and Raymond Rutger of Boston, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Brandon D. Santiago of California, and Stephanie E. Spaulding and Lacie L. Santiago of Clarksville.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Lamar Cemetery with Rev. Hector Mendez officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Elizabeth C. Evans

Elizabeth Christine Evans, 82, of Clarksville died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

She was a daughter of the late Victor and Mae Nickels Sorrels, native of Smithville, Okla., attended Smithville High School and Oklahoma School for the Deaf, former resident of St. Joseph, Mich., member of the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Gene Evans; and one brother, Vincent Sorrels.

Survivors include her husband, Edward J. Evans; one daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Leonard Little of Clarksville; one sister and brother-in-law, Aline and Nick Bannelli of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Juanita Sorrels of Benton Harbor, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Maxine Sorrels of Bridgman, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Brian Little and Shawn Little, both of Clarksville.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harry Tilley, Danny Hattabaugh, Ed Evans, Dewey Padgett, Jim Evans, David Evans, and Stephan Evans.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Esther M. Phillips

Esther M. Phillips, 101, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 11, at Brownwood Manor Nursing Home in Van Buren.

She was a native of Boone County, daughter of the late James and Tamar Wheeler Rutledge, and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Clarksville and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She and her late husband, Richard Phillips, operated the post office and general store at Fort Douglas for 30-plus years. They were also involved in farming activities prior to retiring and moving to Clarksville in 1962. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ava Hardwicke; one son, Gorman Phillips; three sons-in-law; two sisters; and six brothers.

She is survived by three daughters, Alice Smith Ellis of Gravette, Maxine Rail of Rogers, and Mary Sue Powers of Van Buren; two sisters, Lola Phillips of Clarksville and Ertie Light of Ramona, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Roach officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Doug Powers, Henry McDonald, Mike Rail, Larry Smith, Matt Smith, and Jared Smith.

Fern Lloyd

Fern Lloyd, 91, of Ratcliff died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Paris.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, daughter of the late Monroe and Maude Bethune Whisenant, widow of Arvel Lloyd, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Kazy and Evalee Nunnaly.

She is survived by one son, James Lloyd of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Amma Keller of Weiner; one brother, Kenneth Whisenant; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Roller Chapel in Paris with burial in Garden of Memories at Charleston.

Pallbearers were James H. Lloyd, Charles Lloyd, John Haley, Brian Lloyd, Jason Lloyd, and James C. Lloyd.

Horace H. Blakley

Horace H. Blakley, 92, formerly of Haltom City, Texas, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Houston, Texas.

A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Tess and Rosa Blakley, 50-year member of Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 433, Shriner member of the Moslah Temple in Fort Worth, Texas; member of Oakburst Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, Texas, retired employee of Consolidated Aircraft Company in Fort Worth, Texas, and was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Marie Blackburn Blakley.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Sanford and Carolyn Blakely of Houston, Texas; two grandsons and spouses, Scott and Joey Blakley of Allen, Texas, and Stephen and Elizabeth Blakley of Houston, Texas; four great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Oakburst Presbyterian Church.

Ima Hensley

Ima (Tiny) Hensley, 68, of Pixley, Calif., formerly of Coal Hill, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in Pixley, Calif.

She was a daughter of the late Jasper and Cora Hanson Ogden.

Survivors include one son, Billy Ogden of Tulare, Calif.; three sisters, Amy Troxell of St. Joseph, Mo., Pat Weemes of Pixley, Calif., and Ollie Murrah of West Fork; three brothers, Johnny Odgen of Durant, Okla., and Olin Ogden and Ronnie Ogden, both of Pixley, Calif.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and companion, Leman Parks of Pixley, Calif.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Hess Cemetery near Coal Hill with Rev. Gene Bowles officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Josephine Sefcik

A graveside memorial service for Josephine Sefcik, 91, of Bakersfield, Calif., who died Nov. 9, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

The widow of John Sefcik, she was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Joe B. and Kate Clark King, and was preceded in death by one brother, Joe B. King Jr.; and two nephews, Joe B. King III and William M. Hardwicke III.

Survivors include two sisters, Anna Katherine Tressider and Minnazelle Danley, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; nieces, Diane Sandidge of Bakersfield, Calif., and Sharon King Bosworth; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Luanne Thompson

A memorial service for Luanne Thompson, 68, of Normal, Ill., who died Oct. 26, 2001, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Roger Leon (Buster) and Anna Augusta Ragon Thompson, graduate of Clarksville High School and the University of the Ozarks, and taught physcial education in Lovington and Los Alamos, N. M., and Bloomington, Ill, where she also coached tennis, track and basketball before retiring in 1987.

She is survived by two brothers, Ragon Thompson of Albuquerque, N. M., and Al (Jan) Thompson of Springdale; and one niece, Anna Beth Thompson of Springdale.

Burial was Oct. 30, 2001, at East Lawn Cemetery in Bloomington, Ill.

Malachai A. McDaniel

Malachai Andru McDaniel, 3 1/2-month-old son of Brandon McDaniel and Valerie and Jason Jinkins, all of Clarksville, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his home.

Other survivors are grandparents, Joe and Vickie Sugg of Hunt, Duel and Judy Miller of Hartman, Bill McDaniel of Clarksville, and the late Janice McDaniel; great-grandparents, Mary McDaniel of Clarksville, the late Charlie McDaniel, John and Sara Griffin of Clarksville, Don Miller of Hartman, the late Lois Miller, and Bob Huss of San Antonio, Texas; stepgrandparents, Rhonda Clayborn of Lamar, Johnnie Marlow of Clarksville and Joe and Judy Jinkins of Ozone; stepgreat-grandparents, Don and Clara Harkreader of Hartman; uncles, Ronnie Griffin of Bella Vista, Mike Ruffaner and Donald Trujillo; aunts, Michelle Ruffaner, Stacey Harkreader, and Susan Trujillo; and cousins, James and April Ruffaner and Paul and Racheal Trujillo.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Chris Rink officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Joseph Brandt, Anthony Spiotto, Kenny Jinkins, Tommy Sparks, James Harris, Jeremy Bean, and Mike Ruffaner.

Nell Louise Webb

Nell Louise Webb, 69, of Lamar died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, widow of Joe Alfred Webb, daughter of the late Arley and Nellie Rowtrough Young, and was preceded in death by one son, Miles Michael Webb.

Survivors are three daughters, Sharon Pharr of Brentwood, Tenn., Joanna Hickmon of Searcy, and Kimberly Winston of Dallas, Texas; one son, Kevin Webb of Lamar; two sisters, Naomi Hesser of Fairfax, Va., and Vera Draper of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Ray Young of Springfield, Mo., and Melvin Young of Reno, Nev.; and 13 grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, at the Lamar Cemetery with Mike Eppinette officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Michael Hickmon, Roc Webb, Jeremy Pharr, Shane Pharr, Zach Pharr, and Slade Hickmon.

Honorary pallbearers were Phill Pharr, Bob Winston, and Adrian Hickmon.

Ollie Irene Cline

Ollie Irene Cline, 93, of Clarksville died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Arkansas Hospice Center in North Little Rock.

She was a daughter of the late John Edward and Della Neveda Campbell Cline, Methodist, retired from the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D. C., and was preceded in death by one sister, Inez Cline Peters; and four brothers, Fordie W. Cline, John Asaiel Cline, Taulman G. (Tink) Cline, and Bernard W. Cline.

Survivors are one brother-in-law, O. D. Peters of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews including Ewing Cline of Clarksville, Barbara Cline Kemp and George Peters, both of Little Rock, Carl Cline, Helen Messenger, and Anita House, all of California, Rube Cline of Missouri, John Cline of Nevada, Janet McCaa of Sherwood, and Katherine Warner of Colorado.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating. Burial was in Kendall Cemetery near Hartman.

Pallbearers were Vester (Nap) Felkins, Eric Cline, Levon Stumbaugh, William Thompson, Robert Kemp, and Eddie Lindsey.

Robert E. Senft

Roger Edmond Senft, 54, of Clarksville died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith from injuries sustained in a motorcylce accident near Scranton.

He was a machinist and son of the late Harold E. Senft.

Survivors include his widow, Karen Sue Senft; two daughters, Amy Jo Senft and Susan Senft of Indiana; mother, Ruth Senft of Clarksville; two sisters, Linda Senft of Colorado and Diane Senft of Clarksville; two brothers, David Senft and James Senft, both of Illinois; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
