Dakota Contant


Dakota Lynn Contant, who was born Nov. 19, 2001, at Clarksville, died Monday, March 4, 2002, at her home.

She was a daughter of Jessica Cowan and Zachariah B. Contant, both of Ozark. Other survivors include one brother, Colton Taylor Wade Contant of the home; maternal grandparents, Brenda Cowan and Harold Phillips of Hunt and Amanda and Johnny Cowan of Altus; and paternal grandparents, Cliff Contant and Elaine Contant of Ozark.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Robin Hood officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cliff Contant, Harold Phillips, Michael Stansbury and David Cowan.

Dimie R. Woosley


Dimie Roberson Woosley, 94, of Van Buren, sister of Vola Jaggers Montgomery and Sula Garrett, both of Clarksville, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Crawford County Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late Will and Josie Rogers Davis, widow of Troy Roberson and Stoy Woosley, retired LPN, and member of the Assembly of God Church.

Other survivors are two daughters, Violet Knox Coppinger of Van Buren and Velda Jo Randall of Ozark; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial in the Highland Cemetery at Ozark.

Donald W. Young


Donald Wayne Young, 69, of Clarksville died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at his home.

A native of Vermont, Ill., he was a son of the late Wayne and Dora Darling Young, Methodist, Marine veteran of the Korean War, mine construction employee, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Rita Jane Bohanan; and one sister, Darlene Tippey.

Survivors are his widow, Louise Young; one daughter, Anita Horger of Waller, Texas; two sons, Darrell Young of Wright, Wyo., and William Young of Macon, Mo.; one brother, Jim Young of Marble Hill, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Robert Tippey of Illinois; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Michelski


Elizabeth (Betty) Shanteau Michelski, 74, of Waukegan, Ill., died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Waukegan, Ill.

A native of Little Rock, she was a daughter of the late Dwight and Dallas Baskin, graduate of Waukegan Township High School and retired from Illinois Bell where she was a member of the Pioneer Club. She also did volunteer work at Victory Memorial Hospital.

Survivors are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Charlotte Shanteau of Beach Park, Ill., and Mark Shanteau of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Tekla Baskin of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Deryk, Noel, Cameron, and Suzanne; two nieces; and three nephews.

A memorial service was held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, Ill.

Iberia English


Iberia English, 84, of Ozark, sister of Herbert Eugene English of Clarksville, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Ozark Nursing Home.

She was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Yates Eng-
lish, native of Franklin County, and a former employee of the Red Cross and secretary for the state department.

She is survived by one other brother, Kenneth Wayne English of Ozark; three nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services and burial were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith with Rev. Jan Akins and W. B. Powell officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers were Gary English, Keith English, Jeffrey English, Brandon English, Brad English and Jack Whitson.

Joe Porter


Joe Porter, 94, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Crawford County Hospital.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, Army veteran of World War II, retired dry cleaners employee, son of the late Guy C. and Tommie King Porter; and was preceded in death by three daughters, Faye, June, and Joan.

Survivors include his widow, Estelle Gould Porter; one son, Alvin Porter of Knoxville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Earlene Domerese of Van Buren; one stepson, Don Doss of Van Buren; two sisters, Doris Vernelle Church of Fort Worth, Texas, and Helen Hill of Farmington; two brothers, Wilson E. Porter of Booneville and Tom B. Porter of Fullerton, Calif.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the Clarksville Church of Christ with John Ballard and Mike Eppinette officiating.

Burial was in Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were James Clark, Kinney Denton, Flynn Kinman, Myron Been, James Horn, and William Rutledge.
