Armil M. Storms

Armil Monroe Storms, 73, of Russellville died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Russellville.

He was a member of Westside Church of Christ in Russellville, retired from the Air Force and timber industry, son of the late H. and L. Frost Storms, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Ina Mae Ashlock Storms.

Survivors include his widow, Helen Karnes Storms; three sons, Lance Storms of Clarksville, Armil L. Storms of Ozark, and Ricky W. Storms of Hartman; one sister, Velma Taylor of Clarksville; two brothers, Ransom Storms of Clarksville and Lee Storms of Barling; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Dan Lightfoot officiating. Burial was in Mt. Airy Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Randall Taylor, Fred Taylor, Paul Farrar, Jimmy Cox, Autry Meeker, and Ronnie Ashlock.

Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Mearns, Frank Desiderio, and Gordon Taylor.

Corinne Knight Wade

Corinne Knight Wade, 94, of Arkadelphia, mother of Leslie Wade of Clarksville, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at the Twin Rivers Health and Rehab.

A native of Bryant, she was a daughter of the late William and Josephine Young Knight, assisted her late husband, Eldon C. Wade, in managing the family-owned newspaper in Jayton, Texas, and had the distinction of being the first first-grade teacher in the Fountain Lake School System.

Other survivors include two daughters, Susan Wink and Sally McGinnis, both of Arkadelphia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Leek Cemetery near Star City under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Star City.

Eula M. Davis

Funeral for Eula M. Davis, 67, who died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Dawson United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kan. Arrangements were under the direction of Broadway Mortuary.

She was an employee of Typed Letters Inc.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Davis; two daughters, Teresa Gleason of Duluth, Ga., and Kathy Young of Panama City, Fla.; mother, Rinthie Vire Yates of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Johnson County; two sisters, Margie Carter of Albany, Ga., and Artie Laverty of Mesquite, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Haston W. Clark

Haston William Clark, 80, of Oklahoma City, Okla., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002.

A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Bill and Eller Clark, retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1983 where he was a quality inspector, member of Rancho Village Baptist Church where he was a deacon and director of the adult Sunday school department, and was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Marie Hamilton Clark; one brother, Houston Clark; and three sisters, Golda, Lenna and Georgie.

Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Geary Azlin; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry R. and Ginger Clark; and two granddaughters, Lisa and Amy Azlin.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Rancho Village Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd McKee officiating.

Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary of South Oklahoma City, Okla.

Joan Garner Askins

Joan Garner Askins, 76, a former resident of Clarksville, died Jan. 26, 2002, in California.

She was a native of Mississippi, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Garner, graduate of Starkville (Mississippi) High School, attended Mississippi State College at Starkville and MSCW in Columbus, Miss., and was preceded in death by one sister, Jimmy Garner, a long-time resident of Clarksville and former operator of the Clarksville Bakery.

She is survived by her husband, Joe A. Askins, a Clarksville native; one son, Bradley J. Askins of Waban, Mass.; two grandchildren, Rebecca and David, of Waban, Mass.; and one brother, W. D. Garner of Cypress, Calif.

Private services were held under the direction of Memory Garden Memorial Park and Mortuary of Brea, Calif.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

argie M. Mays

Margie M. Mays, 74, of Hartman died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Oklahoma, she was a daughter of the late John and Willie Lewis Drewry, widow of Julius C. Mays, and member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy Fowler of Clarksville; one son, Richard Mays of Hartman; five grandchildren, John Mays, Tara Mays and Nathan (Fred) Mays, all of Hartman, Jeremy Fowler of Russellville and Donna Rivera of Clarksville; and one great-grandchild, Shay Rivera of Clarksville.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Burnett King officiating.

Burial will be in West Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Lonnie Wilson, Mike Wilson, Gary Wilson, Julius C. Mays, Don Houston, and Dane Mays Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Mays, Nathan Mays, Jeremy Fowler, and Dane Mays.

Robert Wayland Hoyt

Robert Wayland Hoyt, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Raleigh (North Carolina) Community Hospital.

He was a former resident of Johnson County, son of the late Robert Hershel and Ecka Elizabeth Holmes Hoyt, former employee of the Herald-Democrat in Clarksville and The Springdale News and of Phillips Lithographing Company in Springdale.

Survivors are his widow, Virginia Mae Threadgill Hoyt; one daughter, Sheri Lynn Broadway of Raleigh, N. C.; one son, Robert M. Hoyt of Blue Springs, Mo.; one sister, Coral Pinder of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Wakeminster Baptist Church with Rev. Merle Martin officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bright Funeral Home and Cremation of Wake Forest, N. C.

Graveside services and burial were Monday, Feb. 11, at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale under the direction of Sisco Chapel of Springdale.

Susie Jane Chronister

Susie Jane Chronister, 94, of Fort Smith died Feb. 6, 2002, in Fort Smith.

She was born in Ozone to Simon and Margaret Warren, a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, and widow of Earl Zackery Chronister.

She is survived by two daugh-
ters, Edith Thornton of Fort Smith and Geraldine Dodd of Rudy; one son, Harry Chronister of Fort Smith; one brother, Fred Warren of Las Cruces, N. M.; 26 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Mountain Home Free Will Baptist Church.

Burial was in the Minnow Creek Cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers were Harold Steed, Daniel Chronister, Jamie Dodd, Marcus Mitchell, Billy Chronister, and Pete Kovalck.
