Accidents
Reported
Johnson County law enforcement personnel recently investigated the
following accidents.
Nov. 1
Deputy William Wages of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office
investigated an accident at 10:50 a.m. at the intersection of Dunlap
and Buster streets in Coal Hill involving a 1989 Chevrolet truck
operated by Padro P. Sanchez-Hernandez of Coal Hill and a 1999 Mercury
sedan owned by Tom Burnett of Coal Hill. According to Wages, the
Sanchez-Hernandez vehicle was backing and struck the parked, unoccupied
Burnett vehicle which received an estimated $2,000 damage.
Nov. 6
Deputy Lance Clubb of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office investigated
an accident at 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 64 and 164
involving a 2004 Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle operated by Dawn D.
Anglin of Hartman. According to Clubb, a deer entered the roadway and
was struck by the vehicle that incurred approximately $3,000 damage.
Nov. 7
Lt. Paul Harmon of the Clarksville Police Department investigated an
accident at 5:40 p.m. on Highway 103 involving a 2005 GMC truck
operated by Kimberly L. Baker of London; a 2005 Chrysler sedan operated
by Lester S. Hampton of Harrison; and a 2008 Ford truck operated by
Billy Joe Nowotny of Clarksville. According to Harmon, the Nowotny
vehicle failed to yield and struck the Hampton vehicle which then
struck the Baker vehicle. No damage estimates were provided.
Patrolman Jeremy Hatchett of the Clarksville Police Department
investigated an accident at 1:50 p.m. on Crawford Street near its
intersection with Highway 109 involving a 2008 Acura sedan operated by
Shawyn R. Paxton of Scranton and a 1998 KIA sedan operated by Sarah E.
Nehus of Paris. According to Hatchett, the Paxton vehicle was slowing
for traffic and was struck in the rear by the Nehus vehicle. Damage to
the Paxton vehicle was estimated at $3,000 and at $6,000 to the Nehus
vehicle.
Nov. 8
Clubb investigated an accident at 3:35 p.m. on County Road 5571
involving a 1999 Jeep operated by George P. Kramer of Wister, Okla.,
and a 2008 Suzuki operated by Donna J. Wooten of Clarksville. According
to Clubb, the Wooten vehicle was traveling south on County Road 5570
when it indicated a left turn onto County Road 5571. The Kramer vehicle
attempted to pass the Wooten vehicle and struck the Wooten vehicle.
Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $1,500.
Patrolman Jacob R. Boen of the Clarksville Police Department
investigated an accident at 4:26 a.m. at the 57 mile marker of I-40
involving a 1998 camper operated by Elton D. Shepard of Beebe.
According to Boen, a deer entered the roadway and was stuck by the
vehicle which sustained approximately $2,000 damage.
Nov. 9
Cpl. Bobby Brown of the Arkansas State Police investigated an accident
at 2:06 p.m. near the 67 mile marker of I-40 involving a 2005 Pontiac
sedan operated by Christina D. Williams of Westville, Okla. According
to Brown, a deer was crossing the roadway and was struck by the vehicle
that received $2,500 damage.
Cpl. Harry Smith of the Arkansas State Police investigated an
accident at 4:35 p.m. at the 71 mile marker of I-40 involving a 2002
Pontiac van operated by Timothy W. Cramer of Tulsa, Okla. According to
Smith, a deer entered the roadway and struck the vehicle. Damage to the
vehicle was estimated at $2,500.
Nov. 10
Deputy Jacob Shook of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported an
accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on County Road 3883 involving a 2008
Hyundai coupe operated by Donald E. Stumbaugh of Lamar. According to
Shook, Stumbaugh stated a deer entered the roadway causing the vehicle
to slide on the roadway and enter a ditch. Damage to the vehicle was
estimated at $7,000.
