Mrs. Beulah A. Voss, 93, of Clarksville died Saturday, April 3, 1999,
at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of the Pittsburg Community near Lamar, daughter of
the late Oscar Monroe and Virginia Elizabeth Burns North, widow of Vandilla
Voss, attended Minnow Creek School, member of the Mt. Home Freewill Baptist
Church and Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, and a retired farmer and
peach grower. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall North
and Newman North, and one sister, Eula Hendricks.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Latricia and Jerry Lingenfelter
of Claremore, Okla.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Raymond and Hannah
North of Clarks-
ville and Everette North of Jonesboro, Ga.; one grandson and spouse, Scott
and Sarah Lingenfelter of Wheaton, Ill.; one granddaughter, Ann Lingenfelter
of Tulsa, Okla.; three nieces and spouses, Peggy and J. P. Mason and Nina
and Earl Mason, all of Clarksville, and Betty Jean Boatwright of Texas;
and a cousin and spouse, Marcie and Paul Martin of Clarksville.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Burial will be in Minnow Creek Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Lingenfelter, Scott Lingenfelter, Earl
Mason, Alvin Mason, James Wesley North, and Wayne Pyron.

Mrs. Faye Elizabeth Pledger, 86, of Danville died Wednesday, March 31,
1999, at her home.
A native of Danville, she was a daughter of the late C. C. and Maude
Estella Gatlin Sharpe, widow of Raymond Pledger, member of the Dan-
ville United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by two brothers,
Courtney Sharpe and Clayborne Sharpe.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cheryl Pledger
of Clarksville, Jim and Geneva Pledger of Danville, and Bill and Lynne
Pledger of Conway; two sisters, Allie Maude Grace of Danville and Mary
Misenhiemer of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Martha Kay Cahill of Morrilton,
Courtnie Pledger, Tiffany Smithhart and Christy Pledger, all of Conway,
John G. Pledger of Russellville, and Holly Pledger of Clarksville; and
three great-grandchildren, Drew Cahill and Tyler Cahill, both of Morrilton,
and Laken Pledger of Conway.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, at the Danville United Methodist
Church with Rev. Wade Schownes officiating.
Burial was in Earl Ladd Cemetery at Danville under the direction of
Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.

John Davis, 93, of Clarksville died Friday, April 2, 1999, in Clarksville
Convalescent Home.
He was a native of Coal Hill, son of the late Thomas M. and Julia E.
Butts Davis, retired coal miner, and was preceded in death by his wife,
Mrs. Violet Davis.
He is survived by three sons, John A. Davis of Little Rock, Sammy L.
Davis of Bryant, and J. R. (Jimmy) Davis of Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Lucille
Baker of Kansas; five grandchildren, Michael Shane Davis of Mt. Home, Deborah
C. Leigh of Hurst, Texas, Hunter L. Davis of Bryant, and Melissa Graves
and Stephanie L. Williams, both of Clarksville; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with
Rev. Carmon Austin officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill Cemetery.

Jimmie (Jim) Moore, 70, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 31, 1999.
He was a maintenance employee for Trane Industries, World War II Army
veteran, member of Heritage Baptist Church, member and past president of
Local 716 UAW, and a mediator for the state of Arkansas Labor Department
under Governor David Pryor.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ann Moore; three daughters, Linda
Hall, Charlotte Bartlett and Connie Harp, all of Clarksville; one stepdaughter,
Gail Jones of Fort Smith; two sons, Jim D. Moore of Lamar and Michael R.
Moore of Fort Smith; one stepson, Wayne Jones of Van Buren; one sister,
Coleta of Gans, Okla.; three brothers, Chet Moore and Birdie Moore, both
of Fresno, Calif., and Freeman Moore of Gans, Okla.; 11 grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, April 5, at Heritage Baptist Church.
Burial was in the U. S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction
of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

J. D. Yarbrough, 74, of Maxwell, Calif., died Wednesday, March 31, 1999,
in California.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Hobart C. and Paula
Jones Yarbrough, 1944 graduate of Clarksville High School, graduate of
The College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, and performed graduate studies
at the University of Arkansas and Stanford University in California. He
was a Navy veteran of World War II, rancher, an academic counselor and
golf coach at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif., for several years, and
was preceded in death by one son, Kirby Yarbrough.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Maureen Yarbrough; one son, Dane Yarbrough
of San Francisco, Calif.; three sisters, Oleta Payne of Clarksville, Jessie
Park of Russellville, and Alpha Klotz of Russell; and one brother, Loral
Yarbrough of Mesa, Ariz.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Bill Woodard officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Ralph Elwood Beal Jr., 80, of Ozone died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Ralph Elwood and Vina Dickerson Beal, member
of the Stillwell Baptist Church, a 22-year employee of the U. S. Postal
Service, and was preceded in death by one brother, John Beal of Ackerly,
Texas.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. M. E. Vance Beal; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Laura and Steve Thulis of Clarksville and Mary Jan and Jay
Cannon of Woodstock, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Elwood (Ann) Beal III of Garland, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. James Vance (Molly)
Beal of Rowlett, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wanda Faye Hook, 61, of Gentry died Sunday, April 4, 1999, in Siloam
Springs Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Oark to Ester and Haven H. Lawrence Reeves, and was
a former resident of Siloam Springs and Gravette.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur C. Hook; four sons, Arthur Cody
Hook of Gentry, Donny Phillips of Decatur, Steve Phillips of the home,
and Earl Phillips of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Cindy Fullerton of
Siloam Springs and Shelly Cooke of Aztec, N. M.; one stepson, Floyd Hook
of Gentry; one stepdaughter, Shirley Hook of Dallas, Texas; one brother,
Arnold Reeves of Conway; one sister, Argie McCarley of Conway; two half-sisters,
Virgie Dalton of Rogers and Alice Presser of Clarksville; 16 grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
