Edward Keith Tumbleson, 14, of Altus died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at
Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial Hospital in Ozark.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of L. G. and Karen Boren Tumbleson,
student at Altus High School, attended Abundant Life Fellowship Church
in Altus, and was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary
and Harold Boren Sr. of Altus.
Other survivors include three sisters, Adriane, Elisha and Morgan, all
of the home; one brother, Jacob of the home; and paternal grandparents,
Bill and Edna Woods of Clarksville and L. B. and Judy Tumbleson of Covington,
Wash.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel
in Ozark with Rev. Mike Pennington officiating. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery
near Altus.
Active pallbearers were Mike Bean, Rodney Silva, Jody White, Dustin
Boren, Larry Evert and Brad Turner.
Honorary pallbearers were James Boydston, Michael Paul Farris, Kenneth
Berry, Jimmy Holman, J. L. Holman, and Jason Holman.

Fred Thomas Chynoweth, 89, of Lamar died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Countryside
Manor Nursing Home.
He was a retired welder, son of the late Fred and Evelyn Triniman Chynoweth,
and was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Chynoweth.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Helen Skaggs Chynoweth; one daughter,
Audrey Warren of Clarksville; three sisters, Edna Geissler of Olympia Field,
Ill., Mildred Lunndell of Port Washington, Wis., and Mae Elhart of Beaver
Dam, Wis.; one grandson, Tony Warren of Clarksville; and nephew, Gale Chynoweth
of Denver, Colo.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the
Russell Cemetery at Ozone with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements
were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Floyd Hignite, Bobby Lee Warren, Doyle Melson, David Stumbaugh, Doug Carey, and Glen Warren.
Gale R. Toney, 47, of London died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, from injuries
sustained in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 359 near the one-lane bridge
on the north side of Piney Bay.
He was a native of Crossett, son of the late Harry and Charlene Grace
Richards Toney, graduate of Crossett High School, attended Arkansas State
University and Ouachita Baptist University, an Army veteran, member of
Fellowship of Christians Church in Russellville, a poultry farmer, and
was preceded in death by one son, Richard Jason Toney.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sandra Toney; one son, Joseph Aaron
Toney of Ellijay, Ga.; four daughters, Christy Sing of Russellville, Holly
Maynard of Ukiah, Calif., Kayla Collins of Scranton, and Andrea McKinney
of Perryville; two brothers, Gordon Toney and Greg Toney; two sisters,
Fran Bible and Ann Toney; and seven grandchildren, Joseph Clay Toney, Alex
Collins, Hattie Collins, Kelcey Collins, Moriah McKinney, Rachel White
and Logan White.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Fellowship of Christians
Church with Rev. Wayne Drain officiating.
Burial was in the Doxa Cemetery at Knoxville under the direction of
Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Jason Remer, Carl Hudson, Ray Rust, and Rick Thompson.

Jessie M. Bridges, 85, of Clarks-
ville died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland,
Texas.
She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Thomas Rube
and Robbie Czar Ingram, widow of Otis T. Bridges, and member of the First
Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Jerri Tittle of Oklahoma City, Okla.,
and Jo Landthrip of Fort Smith; four sons, Tom Bridges and Mike Bridges,
both of Midland, Texas, Don Bridges of Clarksville, and B. J. Bridges of
Hot Springs; one sister, Bobbie Jenkins of Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren;
and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at the First Baptist
Church in Clarksville.
Burial will be in Kendall Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mack Landthrip Jr., Greg Landthrip, T. R. Bridges, Drew Bridges, Scott Bridges, James Moore, and Roy Roberts.
Mrs. Jewell Willey Phillips, 92, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, in Clarksville.
She was born Dec. 14, 1906, at Hunt in Johnson County and was the daughter
of John Newton and Emily Jacobs Willey.
She was the last surviving member of the 1925 Ozark High School graduating
class, a retired nurse and a member of the First United Methodist Church
where she served in several capacities and established the Jewell's Sunday
School class which is a class for homebound seniors.
She was one of the founders and charter members of the Johnson County
Historical Society, a lifelong Democrat having served as vice president
of the Democratic Women of Arkansas and on the Governor's Council on Aging,
helped implement the "Meals On Wheels" program in Johnson County
and was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was married to John J. Phillips on Sept. 29, 1926, who preceded
her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Billy N. Phillips,
three brothers, Milton, Ed and John Willey, and three sisters, Elsie Rasor,
Alie Ingram, and Ida Wheeless.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ann Phillips
of Clarksville; three grandchildren, John Jackson Phillips III of Houston,
Texas, James B. Phillips of Eugene, Ore., and Dr. Karen Phillips-Fawley
of Moorhead, Minn.; one great-grandson, John Jackson Phillips IV of Houston,
Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the First United Methodist
Church in Clarksville with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating.
Interment will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jettie Robbins, 95, of Dover died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Atkins
Nursing Center.
A native of Lamar, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth
Desmuke Thomason, and widow of Hiram E. Robbins.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Coy Gau and Jeff Warren
of Denver, Colo.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Vaughn and Imogene Robbins
of Hagarville, Clinton (Babe) and Christine Robbins of Lamar, and Harold
and Margaret Robbins of Dover; one sister, Marie Truitt of Campbell, Calif.;
seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Lee's Chapel Assembly
of God Church with Rev. Dwain Pritchard and Rev. Terry Scott officiating.
Burial was in the Annie's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Humphrey
Funeral Service of Russellville.

Louie Elmo Nimmo, 80, of Alhambra, Calif., died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999.
A native of Norfork, he was a son of the late Joe and Minnie Nimmo,
World War II veteran having served in the Navy where he attained the rank
of chief petty officer, manager of the Forum Cafeteriain Los Angeles, member
of the Masonic Lodge, and an elder in the Trinity Presbyterian Church in
Pasadena, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marie King Nimmo, a former resident
of the Harmony Community; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Steven
Weisberg; three grandchildren, Brett, Kaitlyn and Scott Weisberg; and brother-in-law,
Burley King of Clarksville.
Private graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Rose Hill. Memorial services were held Sunday, Oct. 17, at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Thomas (Boots) Hess, 79, of Coal Hill died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, in
Ozark Nursing Home.
He was a native of Coal Hill, son of the late Thomas Clayton and Addie
Hardgrave Hess, 1937 graduate of Coal Hill High School, Army Air Force
veteran of World War II, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3455
of Altus, and retired from General Motors where he was employed from 1949-80.
He is survived by one daughter, Marsha Oehlschlager of Santa Fe, N.
M.; one sister, Juanita Barnett of Fort Smith; one brother, Troy (Red)
Hess of Coal Hill; and two grandchildren, Robert and Jason Oehlschlager
of Santa Fe, N. M.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Hess Cemetery at Coal Hill with Rev. Morris Boseman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Theodore W. (Teddy) Rice, 33, of Reasoner, Iowa, formerly of Lamar,
died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa,
from injuries sustained in a construction accident where he was employed.
He was a native of Des Moines, Iowa, attended Monroe (Iowa) Schools
and was a 1984 graduate of Lamar High School.
He is survived by one son, Andrew William Rice of Clarksville; parents,
Charles and Dixie Hummel Rice of Reasoner, Iowa, formerly of Lamar; one
brother, Charles (Steve) Rice Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Deena
Ellerbusch of Flower Mound, Texas, and Becky Soderblom of Reasoner, Iowa;
maternal grandparents, John and Ruth Hummel of Galesburg, Iowa; three nieces,
Shantell Rice of Des Moines, Iowa, Ashlee Ellerbusch of Flower Mound, Texas,
and Abbigail Soderblom of Reasoner, Iowa; and five nephews, Derek Rice
and Brett Rice, both of Des Moines, Iowa, Paul Ellersbusch of Flower Mound,
Texas, and Brandon Soderblom and Zachary Soderblom, both of Reasoner, Iowa.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the First Baptist Church in
Monroe, Iowa, with Rev. Greg Baum, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa, under the direction
of Walters-Coburn Funeral Home.
