Martin Audley Scarborough Jr., 83, of Clarksville died Oct. 15, 1998,
at M D Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
He was a son of the late Polly (Dunlap) and Martin Audley Scarborough
Sr., graduate of Clarksville High School, The College of the Ozarks (now
University of the Ozarks) and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. During
World War II he served in the United States Army Air Corps in Texas. He
was in business with his father and brother at the Palace Drug Store until
retirement in 1991.
He was a lifelong member, elder and deacon of the First Presbyterian
Church in Clarksville, a member of the Shrine, Arkansas Pharmaceutical
Association and 52-year member of Franklin Masonic Lodge. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Geraldine Hudson Scarborough.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Scarborough and Marion Thomas
of Clarksville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Marjorie Scarborough
and David and Dallas Scarborough; two grandchildren, Jason Papakostas and
Miranda Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Clarksville First Presbyterian
Church with Rev. Lance Jones officiating.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral
Home.
Pallbearers were Jim Boyer, Bob Hardin, Ron Leonard, Kenneth Martin,
Bill Stroupe, Edward Hudson, Jack Heflin, and Gary Hudson.

Mrs. Charlotte Ann Kimbriel, 49, of Clarksville died Friday, Oct. 16,
1998, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a cook, waitress, Baptist, and daughter of the late Clarence
Campbell.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Jean
Ann Kimbriel and Aaron Kimbriel, all of Clarksville; mother, Mrs. Opal
Campbell of Clarksville; two sisters, Maudie Armstrong of Fort Smith and
Jerry King of Clarksville; three brothers, Jim Campbell of Clarksville,
Wayne Campbell of Sherwood, and George Hampton of Fort Smith; seven nieces;
five nephews; and one great-niece.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Sam Howell officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rhett Butler, Lonnie Reynolds, Teddy Bohannon, Alfred West, Dell Montgomery, and Blue Mack Zeiler.
Luther M. Belt, 69, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, at Countryside Manor
Nursing Home.
He was a retired soft drink bottling company employee, Army veteran
of the Korean War, son of the late Roy and Mattie Nichols Belt, and a native
of Ozark.
Survivors include one son, Jessie of Coal Hill; one daughter, Linda
Belt of Anderson, Mo.; five brothers, Tommy Belt of Ozark, Lester Belt
of Hunt, Leroy Belt of Greenland, Billy Belt of Tontitown, and Larry Belt
of Lowell; three sisters, Leanna Cowan of Springdale, Dolly Green of Choctaw,
Okla., and Betty Mason of Pampa, Okla.; and one grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the
Belt Cemetery with Rev. David Morrow officiating. Arrangements were under
the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Pallbearers were David Belt, Daniel Belt, Jimmy Belt, Clyde Mason, Dennis Harrison and Garland Henson.
Mrs. Lois M. Boen Combs, 50, a native of Oark, died Friday, Oct. 9,
1998, in Wichita, Kan.
Survivors include her husband, James Combs; one son, Aron of Wichita,
Kan.; one daughter, Shannon White of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers, Clinton
Boen of Oark, Harold Boen of Cheney, Kan., and Clayton Boen of Wichita,
Kan.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Westside Freewill Baptist
Church in Wichita, Kan., with Rev. Garry Ledbetter, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Wichita Park Cemetery in Wichita, Kan., under the direction
of Culbertson-Smith Mortuary.

Mrs. Maxine Miller, 75, of Route 1, Altus died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998,
at her home.
She was a native of Wayne County, Ill., daughter of the late Henry L.
and Stella Ferguson Chapman, and a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom
Hall.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Miller; two daughters, Donna Sue
Norris of Altus and Marsha Miller of Magnolia, N. J.; one son, Daniel L.
Miller of Altus; one sister, Leah Mae Johnson of Joplin, Mo.; 11 grandchildren;
and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Oakland Cemetery with Elder Lee Lewis officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Mrs. Patricia Ann Latham, 60, of Russellville, mother of Peggy Hayden
of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at National Park Medical Center
in Hot Springs.
She was a native of Caruthersville, Mo., daughter of the late Pauline
Alford Stout, retired employee of Wayne Poultry in Danville, and a member
of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Latham; one son, Douglas Latham of
Japan; two other daughters, Teresa Parker of San Angelo, Texas, and Pamela
Sharp of Russellville; father, C. W. Stout of Caruthersville, Mo.; two
brothers, Edgar Stout of Indiana and Donald Stout of South Carolina; four
sisters, Mary Hamilton of Michigan, and Wanda Capps, Peggie Dorr and Brenda
Shaver, all of Missouri; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph C. Kutait, 72, of Fort Smith, father of Mary Ellen Robbins of
Clarksville, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, in Clarksville.
He was a retired Episcopal priest after last serving St. Bartholomew
Episcopal Church of Fort Smith. He attended the University of Missouri,
College of the Ozarks, and Master of Divinity from the University of the
South in Sewanee, Tenn. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church
in Fort Smith, was on the board of Harbor House, member of the County Welfare
Board and Noon Civics Club, past member of the Gateway Board, Standing
Committee Diocese of Arkansas, Executive Committee Diocese of Arkansas,
past delegate to two general conventions of the Episcopal Church, past
delegate of the VII Province of the Episcopal Church, a retired major chaplain
in the United States Army having served during World War II, and was preceded
in death by his wife, Elveda Kutait.
Among the other churches he served were St. John's Episcopal of Harrison,
St. Andrew's Episcopal of Mountain Home, Emmanuel Episcopal of Lake Village,
St. Paul's Episcopal of McGehee, St. Augustine's Episcopal of Fort Smith,
and St. Matthew's Episcopal in Clarksville.
Survivors include two other daughters, Julia Sophia Dobbins of Fort
Smith and Najla Louise Kutait of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Nita K. Fawcett
of Fort Smith; three brothers, Dr. Kemal Kutait and Jesse Kutait, both
of Fort Smith, and Edward Lee Kutait of Little Rock; seven grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at St. John's Episcopal Church
with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith. Arrangements were
under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Verlin Vire, 72, of Peoria, Ill., brother of Aileen Terry of Clarksville,
died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at his home.
He was a son of the late Lewis and Lura Reed Vire, attended Oark High
School, graduated from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and attended
the University of Arkansas. He was a World War II veteran having served
in the South Pacific during wartime, a laboratory technician for 43 years,
and employed by the Catapillar Tractor Company of Peoria, Ill.
Survivors include one other sister, Jewell Pack of Springdale; one brother,
Vernon Hartsil Vire of Ozark; three nephews; five nieces; six great-nephews;
and four great-nieces.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Carmon Austin officiating. Burial was in Patterson Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Denton Vire, Dallas Vire, Clyde Hammons, Loyd Skaggs, Clyde Vire, and Eugene Vire.
