Eugene Haskel Nichols, 79, of Russellville died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Dardanelle.

He was a son of the late John and Bessie Collins Nichols, retired Ladish Steel Company employee, member of the Church of Christ in Dardanelle, and preceded in death by two sisters, Francis Reed and Hazel Wasmer; one brother, Eddie Ray Nichols; and two half-brothers, Lewis Nichols and Frank Nichols.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine (Aaron) Nichols;  three daughters, Diane Baker and husband, David, of Russellville, and Karen Hubbs and Sandra Yarington, both of Dover; one son, Ernie Nichols and wife, Linda, of Lamar; one sister, Betty Spitzer of Russellville; two brothers, Johnnie Nichols of Clarksville and Harley Nichols of Lamar; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery at Hunt.

Pallbearers will be Allen Nichols, Jimmy Nichols, Adam Nichols, Stevie Nichols, Johnny Webster, and Stan Nichols.

Ferrel William Yates, 78, of Coal Hill died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, in an Oklahoma City, Okla., hospital.

A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Jefferson Davis Yates and Myrtle Loraine Ross Yates, U. S. Air Force veteran, former resident of Douglass, Kan., member of Bible Baptist Church in Wichita, Kan., member of the Masonic Lodge, past master of Mystic Tie Lodge No. 74 in Augusta, Kan., 32nd degree Mason of Scottish Rite of Valley of Wichita, Kan., retired employee of Beech Aircraft after 39 years of service, and was preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. Garner Yates.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita Shock of Derby, Kan.; two sons, Randy Yates of Augusta, Kan., and Keith Yates of Granby, Mo.; three sisters, Lucille Brasher of Tulsa, Okla., and Georgia Brasher and Avis Meadows, both of Fort Smith; three brothers, Bentley, J. D., and Don Yates, all of Coal Hill; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial with military honors were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Highland Cemetery in Ozark with Rev. John Kindrix officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Ocker of Alma Funeral Home.

Loren Wayne White Jr., 40, of Hagarville died at approximately 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 21 in Madison County.

He was a native of Kansas City, Kan., graduate of Piper High School in Kansas City, Kan., and an emergency medical technician with St. John's Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Bellmyer White; three sons, Gabe White of Hagarville, Andy Hallmark and wife, Kristen, of Bentonville, and Chris Hallmark of the U. S. Army stationed in Korea; parents, Loren and Carla White of Hagarville; one sister, Jouree Hardin and husband, John, of Hagarville; one brother, Steve White and wife, Lori, of Hagarville; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Hagarville Cemetery with Rev. Bud Parsons officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Greg Bartlett, John Edwards, Coy Hicks, Donnie Hicks, Mike Bellmyer, Chad Pitts, Dakota Crowden, and Steven White Jr.

Regina Marie Johnson, 71, of Clarksville died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Coal Hill, daughter of the late Leo and Edra Tipton Steele, and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brown Jr.; one daughter, Rita Michelle Brown; two sisters, Faye Clayborn and Wanda Kremer; and one brother, Douglas Steele.

Survivors include her husband, H. L. (Billy) Johnson; one son, Scottie Brown and wife, Mary, of Godley, Texas; one stepdaughter, Lorrie Chesser and husband, Brent, of Lamar; one stepson, Darryl Johnson and wife, Nancy, of Salus; one sister, Georgia Riley of Hartman; two brothers, Bill Steele and wife, Elleen, and Robert Steele, all of Hartman; four grandchildren, Sally May Tunnell and husband, Michael, of Joshua, Texas, Tara Jean Fowler and husband, Herb, of Newport News, Va., Cody Johnson of Salus, and Erika Wages of Clarksville; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Kindrix officiating. Burial will be in Kendall Cemetery.

Rudy Clayton Bonds, 94, of Ozark, father of Ione Daniel of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, in Ozark.

He was a son of the late William and Sarah L. Smith Bonds, native of Cecil, retired farmer, member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Walker Bonds.

Survivors include three other daughters, Avery Mantooth, Willa Pruitt and Carol Willhite, all of Ozark; two sons, Earl Bonds of Ozark and Jack Bonds of Cecil; one sister, Volene Battles of Glendora, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church with burial at the Cemetery Ridge Cemetery, south of Ozark, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Charleston.

Active pallbearers were grandsons, James and Billy Joe Gude, Kevin, Paul and Randal Bonds, Bryan Pruitt, Greg Willhite, and John Daniel.

Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Mary White, Karen Fisher, Terri Sims, Tracie Fate, Connie Cady, Christa Littlefield, Amy Whitson, and Sheila Payne.

Gurvis Leon McCartney, 80, of Ozark died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, in Carroll County.

He was a retired U. S. Forest Service technician, U. S. Army veteran, member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, native of Mountain Top, son of the late George and Velma Wright McCartney, and was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Leon McCartney; and two brothers, James McCartney and Bob McCartney.

Survivors include his wife, Gerry Miner McCartney; one daughter, Debbie Morris of Ozark; two sons, Darrell McCartney and Bruce McCartney, both of Ozark; three brothers, Burl McCartney of Clarksville and Billy McCartney and Larry McCartney, both of Ozark; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at Bethel Assembly of God Church at Mountain Top with Rev. Coy Doss and David Doss officiating.

Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Active pallbearers were Dean Wright, Ronnie Wright, Chris McCartney, Dusty McCartney, Cletus Davis and Allen McCartney.

Honorary pallbearers were Robbie Morris, Randy Wyers and Earl Wyers.
