Barbara Humerickhouse
Barbara Jean Humerickhouse, 60, of
Piney Bay died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at her home.
She was born in Chapel Hill, N. C.,
daughter of the late John W. McReynolds, widow of Harold Humerickhouse,
national merit scholar in Nevada, Mo., and member of Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter,
Hilary Kemp and husband, Travis, of Lamar; three sons, Nick
Humerickhouse of Miami, Fla., Dominic Humerickhouse of Rhode Island,
and Dr. Edward Humerickhouse and wife, Leah, of Roanoke, Va.; mother,
Mary Jane Roden of Nevada, Mo.; five sisters, Brooke McReynolds of
Queensland, Australia, Betsy Litten and husband, David, of Nevada, Mo.,
Alice McReynolds of Palm Springs, Calif., Rebecca McReynolds of Tucson,
Ariz., and Louise McReynolds of Chapel Hill, N. C.; three brothers,
Mike McReynolds and wife, Ginger, of Fort Worth, Texas, Doug McReynolds
and wife, Tamara, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Chris McReynolds and wife,
Liz, of Morristown, N. J.; one brother-in-law, Don Humerickhouse and
wife, Debra, of Palmetto, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kaleb Humerickhouse
and Rachel Kemp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary service and funeral mass were
at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father
William Wewers officiating.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the
direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Kim Mortenson, Gene
Leeds, Jack Edwards, Tim Kajdan, Dan Cogan, and Gene Raible.

Emma Dell Leeds
Emma Dell Leeds, 84, of Clarksville
died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Clarksville,
daughter of the late William and Ethel Jacobs Bean, widow of Robert
Leeds, member of East Mount Zion Trinity Baptist Church and Mt. Vernon
Extension Homemakers Club, and was preceded in death by one son, Neil
Leeds; one sister, Eula Moyer; two brothers, Orland Bean and Quinton
Bean; and two half-brothers, Otis and Athol Bean.
She is survived by numerous nieces
and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.
18, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Mt. Vernon
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Anderson, Jim
Damon, Carl Jones, Robert King, Danny Leeds, and D. J. Turner.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon

Helen Moore
Helen R. Moore, 74, of Dover,
grandmother of Lea Stain of Clarksville, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at
Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
She was a native of Tulsa, Okla.,
daughter of the late John Daniel and Nola Mae Curry Bruce, widow of
David Lemley Moore, graduate of Dover High School, and was preceded in
death by one brother, Bobby E. Bruce; and one sister, Mary Evelyn
Hartzell.
She is survived by one son, David
Bruce Moore of Dover; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and
John Nordin of Dover, Leslie Ruth Moore of Siloam Springs, and Lisa and
Cory Cox of Dallas, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and
Clara Jewell Bruce of Apache, Okla.; three other grandchildren, Kevin
Nordin and wife, Kristen, of Dover, Somer Moore of Dardanelle, and
Holly Humphreys of Fort Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will conduct a private
graveside memorial service at a later date.
Local arrangements were under the
direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Kenneth Covington
Kenneth Covington, 91, of Lucas,
Texas, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
He was a native of Clarksville, son
of the late Herbert D. and Lula Reynolds Covington, served in the U. S.
Army and National Guard, employee of Continental Bakery Company,
Langendorf Baking Company and Pisano French Bread, all in San
Francisco, Calif., plant manager for Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake in
Seattle, Wash., member of the Masonic Lodge in San Francisco, Calif.,
and the First United Methodist Church of Allen, Texas, and upon
retiring was a bus driver for several years in the Allen Independent
School District where he was awarded a lifetime membership to the PTA.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Kenny; and one brother, Del.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth
Lewis Covington; one son, Jack Covington and wife, Audrey, of Lucas,
Texas; one daughter, Deanna Tonks and husband, Larry, of Scottsdale,
Ariz.; five grandchildren, Lisa White of Virginia, Eden Jamison of
Portland, Ore., Krista Hatley of Johnson City, Tenn., Eric Covington of
Wylie, Texas, and David Telfer of Reno, Nev.; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Monday, Aug. 3, at the
First United Methodist Church of Allen, Texas, with Rev. Brian
McPherson and Rev. June Franck officiating.
Burial was in Fitzhugh Cemetery in
Lucas, Texas.
Pallbearers were Eric Covington, Bob
Dillon, Carson Everett, Ed Powell, John Smith and Gary White.

LaVern Harry White
LaVern Harry White, 72, of
Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Countryside Manor Nursing
Home.
He was a native of Cuttbank, Mont.,
son of the late Harry and Alma Holman White, retired supervisor of L.
A. County Parks and Recreation Heavy Equipment Division, and a Navy
veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila
Vaughn White; one daughter, Desiree White of Clarksville; three sons,
Vernon White of California, Eric White of Colorado, and Kenneth White
of Clarksville; one sister, Vera Reynolds of Great Falls, Mont.; three
stepchildren, Julie Bustos of California, and Sylvia Fox and Dennis
Kimpton, both of Clarksville; and nine grandchildren.
The body will be cremated. A
memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in
the National Cemetery at Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the
direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Robert Phillips
Robert Phillips, 84, of Hartman died
Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at his home.
He was a native of Hartman, son of
the late Robert Lester and Margaret Wilson Phillips, chemist, Mason,
and World War II Navy veteran having served on the USS Boston Ship.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy
Phillips; one daughter, Margaret Doolittle of Wichita, Kan.; two sons,
Robert Phillips and wife, Sharree, of Wichita, Kan., and Carl Phillips
and wife, Cindy, of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Andrew Phillips
and Catlin Phillips, both of Wichita, Kan.; one stepgrandchild, Donnie
Raymer; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
A memorial service was held at 2
p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Liberty Hill Church with Rev. Orla Larsen
officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral
Home.

Ruth Kendrick
Ruth Kendrick, 81, of Clarksville
died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at her home.
She was a native of Pottsville,
daughter of the late Clyde and Lois Kendrick Roberts, widow of Rev.
Raymond Kendrick, graduate of Pottsville High School, member of the
First Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one
daughter, Joan Caudle; one grandson, Randy Caudle; and one sister,
Hazel Pryor.
Survivors include two daughters,
Doris McGuire of Marietta, Ga., and Barbara Metz of Pine Bluff;
five
sons, Wesley Kendrick of Clarksville, Gary Kendrick of Ohio, George
Kendrick of Conway, Paul Kendrick of Alma, and Bill Kendrick of Searcy;
one sister, Sybil Cook of Malakoff, Texas; four brothers, Bob Roberts
of Springdale, Charles Roberts of Talco, Texas, Fred Roberts of
McKinney, Texas, and Earl Roberts of Waxahachie, Texas; 23
grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday,
Aug. 15, at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dade Kindrix
officiating.
Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery at
Pottsville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Wendell Lee
Wendell Lee, 80, of Clarksville died
Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at his home.
A native of Hunt, he was a son of
the late Ervin and Varnell Pryor Lee, member of the Spadra Baptist
Church, retired coal miner and heavy equipment operator with the
Johnson County Road Department.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Lee;
two daughters, Ava Harrison of Stigler, Okla., and Lou Ann Smith of
North Little Rock; two stepdaughters, Terri Carpenter of Port Orchid,
Wash., and Sharon Cochran of Clarksville; one stepson, Charles
Highlander of Merced, Calif.; three grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Oden
officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery at Hunt.
Active pallbearers will be Rip Teal,
David Handley, Larry Brown, Jake Pace, Dale Caldwell, and James Jaggers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie
Rood, Randy Lee, Pete Harrison, Mike Smith, Eddie Rood, and Jason Milk.

Frank Whorton
Frank Whorton, 87, of Cheney, Kan.,
died Aug. 9, 2009, at his home.
He was a native of London, son
of
the late Dee and Roxie Ann (Price) Whorton, U. S. Navy veteran of
World War II, retired employee of Boeing after 20 years of service,
former 13-year employee of North High School, member of the American
Legion, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and preceded
in death by one brother, Willie B. Whorton; and two sisters, Margaret
Hardgrave and Rita Joyce Price.
Survivors include his wife, Athena
E. Kiner; four sons, Jerry (Marilyn) Whorton of Russellville; Lynn
Whorton of Lumberton, Texas, Roger (Teresa) Whorton of Houston, Texas,
and James Whorton of Peck, Kan.; three daughters, Ruby (Dennis)
Sowersby of Haysville, Kan., Marcella (Loyce) Heitman of Peck, Kan.,
and Linda (Randy) Oliver of Cheney, Kan.; three sisters, Sena Bell
Parsons of Lamar, Reba Lois Tucker of Russellville and Patsy Carothers
of Ft. Worth, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and five
great-great grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Aug. 11, at Trinity United Christian Church in Cheney, Kan., with
Pastor Patrick Nixon officiating.
Burial was at Fairview

Thomas P. Kennedy
Thomas P. Kennedy, age 60, of Kansas
City, MO passed away Sunday August 2, 2009.
Tom was born November 13, 1948, in
Oark, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and
Kizzie Kennedy; sisters, Gladys and Bobbie Sue Kennedy, Dortha Vanover
and a brother, Jack Kennedy.
He is survived by three children,
Tommie Sue Kennedy, Chris Jensen and Stephen Jensen; longtime
girlfriend Jo Driskell; sisters Ione Valdovines, Merle Dinsmore and
Loretta Everhart and a brother John Kennedy as well as grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
Tom was proud to serve in the U. S.
Army stationed in Vietnam where he won three metals for bravery. He was
a truck driver and loved working in his beautiful yard. His sense of
humor and wonderful smile will truly be missed by all who knew him.
