Anna M. Morrison
Anna Margaret Morrison, 89, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Muhlhasen, Germany, widow of Donald Morrison and member of Grace Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Heide Riemenschneider and husband, Peter, of Germany; one brother, Alvin Fleichhauer of Germany; sister-in-law, Ursula Fleichhauer of Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Oakland Cemetery with Pastor Herb Swanson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Bill Bradley
Bill Bradley, 83, died Friday, May 1, 2009, in Pinole Senior Village in Pinole, Calif.
A native of Lamar, he was a son of the late B. H. (Red) and Louvena Mathias Bradley, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Rose Bradley; two brothers, L. D. King and Robert Bradley; and one sister, Anna Lea Moore.
He is survived by one son, Craig Bradley of Concord, Calif.; three sisters, Sally Ladd and Patricia Higgins, both of Lamar, and Shirley Riggs of Rodeo, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The body will be cremated and internment will be in Crockett, Calif.
David W. Moody
David W. Moody, 65, of Mulberry, brother of Richard Moody of Clarksville, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in Van Buren.
A native of Carlisle, he was a son of the late Earl and Mary Moody, estimator for Commercial Drywall for 25 years, served on the Mulberry City Council for 29 years, member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Mulberry, and was preceded in death by one son, Patrick Moody.
Survivors are his wife, Linda Moody; one daughter, Robbin McClurkin of Mulberry; one son, John David Moody of Mulberry; one other brother, Randy Moody of Gainesville, Texas; and four grandchildren, Kendra McClurkin, Jenna Moody, Spencer Moody, and Kendall McClurkin II, all of Mulberry.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 26, at First Baptist Church in Mulberry.
Burial was at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were John Hunter, Jimmy Moore, William Tobey, Fred Moon, Jeffrey Marvin, and Randy Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and deacons and Sunday school class members of Mulberry First Baptist.

Leona Clarene Craig
Leona Clarene (Rennie) Craig, 65, of Knoxville died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at her home.
She was a native of Little Rock, daughter of the late Ollie and Leona Jones Pitts, and preceded in death by one infant daughter, Pamela Jean Lindsay; two sisters, Shirley Metzger and Deloris Sbabo; one brother, Freddie Carl Pitts; and five grandchildren, Robert Lindsay, Michael Don Bowles, Cody Raymond Holland, Chad Alan Jernigan, and John Wesley Ramsey.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Craig II; five daughters, Linda Kay Diestler of Paris, Brenda Faye Elliott and Rennie Lue Bowles, both of Knoxville, Jeannie Sue Melton of Violet Hill, and Mary Ann Holland of Clarksville; one son, Orville Joe Lindsay of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Faye Woodard of Clarksville, Jan Hollowell of Benton, La., and Geraldine Parker of London; three brothers, Buddy Pitts of Benton, Clifton Pitts of Ozone and Jerry Pitts of Lamar; four step-children, Harry Tinkle, Billy Tinkle, Kathy Tinkle and Stanley Harrison; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay McEntyre and Rev. Terry Cameron officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Nolan Holland, Jake Holland, Zachary Mitchell, Randy Rumsey, Cory Rodgers, and Don Pitts.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe Ramsey, Charlie Sanders, Mike Bowles, and Don Bowles.
Michael Hatfield
Michael William Hatfield, 64, of Clarksville died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Hot Springs.
He was a native of Bakersfield, Calif., member of First Assembly of God Church in Paris, and parts manager for Fort Smith Boat Sales.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brown Hatfield; three sons, Brian Hatfield of Fort Smith, Ronnie Hatfield of Colorado and Matt Horton of Lamar; three stepdaughters, Lisa Horton and Sarah Uselton, both of Lamar, and Winnie Asher of Lavaca; one sister, Cheryl Harris of Blytheville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Tate Cemetery northwest of Charleston at a later date.
The body was cremated under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Charleston.
Norma Lee Hook
Norma Lee Hook, 73, of Clarksville died Friday, May 1, 2009, at her home.
She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late Virgil Lee and Reesie James Patterson, retired teacher's aide, and widow of Roy Herbert Hook Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Ann Hook and Kelly Renee Chavers and husband, David, of Clarksville; one sister, Marilyn Edwards and husband, George, of Fayetteville; one brother, Micky Patterson and wife, Judy, of Charleston; and two grandchildren, Lindsey Marvel and husband, Dustin, of Lamar and Kelsey Crutchfield of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill VanMeter officiating. Burial was in Hartman Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Paul Chavers, Monroe Johnson, John Johnson, Kent Yates, and David McKnight.
Virgie Elaine Clinton
Virgie Elaine Garrett Clinton, 93, of Hunt died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at her home.
She was a native of the Cove Creek Community, daughter of the late Sidney Wesley and Ora Elizabeth Miracle Garrett, widow of Howard Clinton, and preceded in death by one brother, Sidney Hoyt Garrett.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Sula Garrett of Clarksville; three nephews, Keith Garrett of Smithville, Tenn., and Don Garrett and Charles Clinton, both of Clarksville; two nieces, Yvonne Williams of Huntington and Sue Forbus of Mablevale; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; 15 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Liberty Hill Church at Hunt with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating.
Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

William Charles Hurst
William “Willie” Charles Hurst, 56, of Mesa, Ariz., whose brother, Eddie, resides in Coal Hill, died April 23, 2009.
He was a native of Dardanelle, son of the late James Albert Hurst, former resident of Russellville, and employed by Tyson Foods of Dardanelle as maintenance technician for 20-plus years.
He is survived by his mother, Pearl Hurst of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Nina Hurst of Benton and Geneva Hurst of Fort Smith; one son, William L. Hurst of Fort Smith; two other brothers, Albert of Pottsville and Jerry of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Joyce Salinas of Laredo, Texas, and Linda Contreras and Elizabeth Thomsen, both of Mesa, Ariz.; and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Faith Church in Dardanelle with Rev. Charles Kendrick officiating. The body was cremated.
Willie Eugene Brown
Willie Eugene Brown, 97, of Van Buren died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Crawford Health and Rehab.
He was a native of Clarksville, retired coal miner and Arkola Sand and Gravel Company employee, member of Teamster Union No. 373, and preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Williams Brown.
He is survived by one son, George Brown and wife, Carolyn, of Van Buren; one sister, Myrtle Adams of California; three grandchildren, George Brown Jr. of Bella Vista, Phillip Brown of Fort Smith, and Mariesa Baker of Van Buren; six great-grandchildren, Jeremey Brown, Daniel Brown, Johnathan Brown, Adam Brown, Erin Brown, and Haskell Baker; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Clemmons officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Brown Jr., Jeremey Brown, Daniel Brown, Phillip Brown, Adam Brown, and Erin Brown.
John Edwards Reed
John Edwards Reed, 87, died May 2, 2009, in a Hot Springs hospital. A native of Springdale, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Lula Caldwell and Fred E. Reed. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Neill Reed and Robert Reed and his sisters, Iris Reed and Freda Reed.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years Elizabeth Strauss Reed; a son and two daughters and their husbands, Peggy and Tom Tucker of Little Rock, John Reed, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cathy and Don Slaton of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Grandchildren are Justin Tucker of Little Rock, Katherine Tucker Colgan of Maumelle, Peter Tucker of Little Rock, Meagan Reed Pittman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Candice Reed Wutzke of Washington, D.C, Chris Slaton, Ray Slaton and Art Slaton all of Hot Springs and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Rachel Reed Hepler of Barling, Arkansas, Jack Reed of Virginia, Raymond Reed of Grady, Arkansas, James Reed of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Fred Reed of Ohio.
John Reed graduated high school from State Vocational School in Huntsville, Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He earned three post-graduate degrees: Master of Divinity from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, Masters of Personnel Administration from George Washington University, and a PhD in Philosophy of Education from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas.
Reed served eighteen years in the regular United States Army as an enlisted medic, infantry officer and chaplain, with ten years outside the contiguous U.S., including the campaign across Northern Africa, Corsica and Italy. He served in WWII, traveling westward around the world, in Korea and at Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1968. He was a Professor Emeritus at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, having taught Sociology for 17 years.
He was a member of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, Philosophy of Education Society, Arkansas Sociological Association charter member, Phi Alpha Theta, Board of Directors of the Arkansas Gerontological Society, and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason for 55 years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church with Reverend Vic Nixon officiating. The family will greet guests in the parlor following the service. Burial will be Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, Arkansas.
