Elihu Jones Jr.
Elihu Jones Jr., 83, of Clarksville
died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at his home.
He was a native of Hagarville, son
of the late Elihu and Bethaney McAllister Jones, retired, and preceded
in death by six brothers, Granville Jones, Leonard Jones, Columbus
Jones, Elmer Jones, Ira Jones and an infant; and four sisters, Sara
Townsend, Beulah Tumbleson, Leona Pitts and Nan Hodges.
Survivors include his wife, Flora
Ellen Hodges Jones; two daughters, Delcie Tipton of Omaha and Vonnell
Dybala of Martinsville, Ind.; two sons, Les Jones of West Plains, Mo.,
and Steve Jones of Knoxville; three sisters, Eula Owen of Lamar, Iva
Rushing of Clarksville and Earlene Davis of Russellville; six
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec.
26, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger
officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Shane Dybala,
Delane Davis, Shannon Owen, Jesse Jones, Van Ray Page, and Paul Wayne
Duvall.
Gene Phillips
Gene Phillips, 78, of Springdale,
father of Sherri Payne of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008,
at his home.
He was born in Ponca City, Okla., to
Lonnie S. and Pearl Hewitt Phillips, 1948 graduate of Springdale High
School, attended the University of the Ozarks where he lettered in
football from 1948 to 1950, also attended the University of Arkansas in
1955, was an Eagle Scout and former scout master of Troop 112, longtime
member of First Baptist Church in Springdale, and retired from Jones
Truck Lines as manager of the interline department in 1991 after 29
years of service. He also worked with his father as a realtor for the
Ozark Land Company from 1960 to 1967, served as staff sergeant in the
U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War, and was
preceded in death by three sisters, Marion Juanita Phillips, Martha
Helen Munson and Katherine Marie Largent.
Survivors include his wife of 51
years, Wilma Phillips; one son, Michael Phillips of Lowell; two other
daughters, Ginger Bickerton Sampson of Seattle, Wash., and Lisa Carlin
of Westlake Village, Calif.; ten grandchildren; one
great-granddaughter; two nephews; and two nieces.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec.
29, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Rev. Charlie Foster
officiating. Burial was in the Bluff Cemetery.

Hazel M. Hatchett
Hazel Marie Hatchett, 64, of
Clarksville died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical
Center.
She was a native of Owens, Wis.,
daughter of the late Harold Tobias and Jean Ellamae Christenson Brown,
cook, member of the Johnson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and
member of Stillwell Baptist Church for 28 years.
Survivors include her husband, Roy
Donald Hatchett; two sons, Paul Hatchett of Siloam Springs and John
Hatchett of Little Rock; two sisters, Marion Carter of Soledad, Calif.,
and Carol Martignoni of Gonzales, Calif.; two brothers, Roger Brown of
San Ramon, Calif., and Harold Brown of Clarksville; and three
grandchildren.
The body will be cremated. Local
arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 2
p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Stillwell Baptist Church with Rev. Jim
Goodman officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 2, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Neoma L. Bearden
Neoma Lucille Bearden, 91, of Ozark,
mother of Phyllis Day of Lamar, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, in Ozark.
She was a native of Paris, daughter
of the late John and Flora Keck Biggs, widow of Olen Bearden, member of
Webb City Baptist Church, and a craftmaker.
She is survived by two other
daughters, Freeda Everly of Van Buren and Kathy Umholtz of Overland
Park, Kan.; four sons, Bill Bearden and Bob Bearden, both of Ozark, Jim
Bearden of Fort Smith, and Danny Bearden of Paris; four sisters,
Bernice Puckett of California, Lillian Batchelor of Van Buren, Evelyn
Smith of Stockton, Mo., and Patsy Joubert of Mulberry; three brothers,
Clifford Ming of Texas, Clarence Ming of Booneville, and Raymond Ming
of California; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec.
26, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Jan Akins and
Rev. Chuck Gililland officiating. Burial was in Morgan Hill Cemetery at
Ozark.
Honorary pallbearers were members of
the Webb City Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
Opal Bean Palmer
Opal Bean Palmer, 88, formerly of
Clarksville, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, in Castro Valley, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, Herbert and Bessie Bean, and her husband of 55 years, Lloyd
Palmer.
Survivors include one son, Stanley
Palmer and wife, Maggie, of Anthem, Ariz.; one daughter, Janice Palmer
of Hayward, Calif.; three grandchildren, Michael Palmer of Aliso Viejo,
Calif., Jason and wife, Kelli, of Rockwall, Texas, and Stuart Palmer of
Austin, Texas; two sisters, Loleita Whiteis of Tulsa, Okla., and Eileen
Stumbaugh of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in San Joaquin Valley
National Cemetery in Gustine, Calif.

Patricia Ann Wing
Patricia Ann Hobbs Wing, 66, of Fort
Smith went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 13, 2008. She was
born in Bakersfield, CA and lived most of her life in and around Santa
Maria, CA until she moved to Arkansas in the year of 1985 where she
spent her last years in the Fort Smith area prior to being a resident
of Clarksville where she was an employee in the deli department of the
Piggly-Wiggly Store.
Pat was someone who enjoyed reading
her Bible and talking about the Lord. What she loved and valued the
most in her life was her family, whom she loved spending time with.
Over the years she also spent much of her time crocheting blankets for
those that she loved, putting love into every stitch. She will be most
remembered for her sense of humor and for her big heart. She was a
mother to everyone and loved by all that met her. She was a loving
mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by her children,
Jimmy Burson of Bakersfield, CA., Babette Olson of Greenwood, AR., and
Dee Dee Hobbs of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Memorial service was Thursday,
December 18, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
Cremation was under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family greeted friends at
Edwards Funeral Home before the memorial service from 5-6 p.m.

Stella Irene Harmon
Stella Irene Harmon, 90, of Oark
died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home at
Lamar.
She was a daughter of the late
Thomas and Eva Jenkins Adams, widow of Leroy Clark Harmon, member of
the Assembly of God Church, served as the Batson correspondent for The
Graphic for several years, and was preceded in death by two brothers,
George Proctor Adams and Gerald (Pete) Adams; and one sister, Lena
Marie Lovell.
She is survived by one daughter,
Peggy Stepp and husband, Dwight, of Oark; one sister, Lois Bounds of
Woodford, Va.; one brother, Willard Adams of Anderson, Ind.; two
grandchildren, Karen Young and husband, Brad, of Coal Hill and James
Stepp and wife, Lavahnda, of Clarksville; two great-grandchildren,
Melody Rose Vickers of Coal Hill and Tara Lee Stepp of Clarksville; and
two stepgreat-grandchildren, Denver and Chance Young, both of Coal Hill.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec.
29, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger and Rev.
George Willis officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tommy Adams,
Bobbie Adams, Ronnie Adams, Jody Cooper, Carroll Sherrell, and Jody
Sherrell.
Honorary pallbearers were Willard
Adams, John Bruce Cresap, Delorn Cooper, Gurvis McCartney, Art Stepp,
Tooter Stepp, and caregivers at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
Wendell Riddell
Wendell Riddell, 92, of Clarksville
died peacefully December 22, at home.
He was the son of Buford and Ethel
Riddell, a lifelong member of Clarksville Presbyterian Church, a member
of the Masonic Lodge for over sixty years, and was active in Boy Scouts
of America dating from 1931. He was employed as an auditor by the State
of Arkansas for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife
of 72 years, Katherine, and two children, Marian Cargile and Forrest
Riddell.
He is survived by one son, Mark of
Seattle, WA.; four grandchildren, Eden Riddell Hennessy and Marc
Riddell, both of Seattle, WA., Kevin Cargile of Sugarland, TX, and
Jason Cargile of Oceanside, CA.; and several great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a
later date.
