Buddy Markes
Buddy E. Markes, 80, of Ozark,
father of Gloria Sams of Hartman, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, in Ozark.
He was a native of Kentucky, son of
Ervin Markes, farmer and member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
Other survivors include his wife,
Izola Davis Markes, one other daughter, Teresa Farmer of Ozark; five
sons, Randy Markes, Danny Markes and J. C. Case, all of Ozark; Herman
Davis of St. Paul and L. V. Case of Altus; 12 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 19, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Sam Judd
officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Felix Milligan, Joe
Woods, Ronnie Sherrell, Simon Keck, Carl McComas, Kay Whitmore and
Leroy Nather.
Charles Benjamin Smith
Charles Benjamin Smith, age 74,
passed away November 19, 2008, at the Clarksville Convalescent Home.
He was born July 17, 1934, in
Pownal, Vermont. He attended Perkins School for the blind in Boston,
Massachusetts, where he made many friends.
He moved to Arkansas in 1961 and
resided in Hartman with his sister, Ethel and husband, Raymond Oberste.
After moving to Clarksville in 1985, he was a member of the Second
Baptist Church in Clarksville.
Charles is survived by one brother,
Eugene Smith and his wife, Sally of Effingham, New Hampshire. Two
nieces, Barbara Hilton and Anita Tighe, both of Clarksville, Arkansas.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and
nephews in many states.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Ralph and Francis Smith. Three sisters: Ethel Oberste of
Clarksville, Geraldine Blackler of New Hampshire and Elizabeth Smith of
Vermont; 3 brothers: Francis Smith of Florida, Albert Smith of
Massachusetts and Alton Smith of Vermont.
Charles was a huge country music fan
and loved listening and singing along. Because he was legally blind,
the Association for the Blind provided him with “Talking” Books. With
those records he read The Bible daily and tried to memorize it. He also
enjoyed westerns.
He also loved getting to know the
many caring people at the Clarksville Convalescent Home, having been
the longest living resident there after 23 years. They were all part of
his family.
Memorial
service was Friday, 10 a.m. Nov. 21, 2008. Burial will be in Vermont.
Clara M. Ritchie
Clara Marie Ritchie, 54, of Lamar
died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at her home.
She was a native of Clarksville,
daughter of the late Gus Henry and Clara Ovilee Davis Skaggs, employee
of Johnson Regional Medical Center, member of Hedgeway Church, and was
preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Survivors include her husband,
Robert Ritchie; two daughters, Tonya Qualls and husband, Duane, of
Clarksville and Shauna Beck and husband, Claye, of Lamar; one son,
Kevin Ritchie of Lamar; four sisters, Alice (Faye) Goni and Villia Day
Ruffaner, both of Oark, Wanda May Frantz of Clarksville, and Sharon Kay
Hodge of Lamar; one brother, Dallas Skaggs of Oark; and 11
grandchildren, Tiffany, Sheridan, Tia, Ryann, Trenton, Marina, Maranda,
Kaylee, Destiny, Austin, and Shyanne.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday,
Nov. 28, at Hedgeway Church with Rev. Don Alexander officiating.
Burial will be in Patterson Springs
Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Tom
Mingo, John Hodge, Dale Williams, Larry Don Ruffaner, Mike Skaggs, and
Robert Lastoria.
Honorary
pallbearers will be Kelly Ritchie, Kite Castillo, Darrell Cowell, Fred
Ritchie, Donnie Ritchie, Robbie Ritchie, and Jimmy Suggs.
George W. Bramucci
George William Bramucci, 59, of
Altus died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Ozark.
He was a native of Memphis, Tenn.,
son of the late Willie and Ethel Marshall Bramucci, cook, auto parts
employee, and was preceded in death by one brother, Lance Bramucci.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa
Haney Bramucci; five sons, Brett and Brent Bramucci of the home, and
Mark, Shawn and Greg Bramucci, all of Ozark; two sisters, Sissy
Phillips and Lisa Britton, both of Marion; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 26, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Darling
officiating. Burial will be in Houston Cemetery at Alix.
Pallbearers will be David Luna,
Roger Halpin, Bobby Thomas, Paul Kendrick, Ronnie Bugg, and Jeremy
Haney.
Gladys L. Stokes
Gladys L. Stokes, 57, of Clarksville
died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.
She was a native of Kansas City,
Mo., Baptist, member of Johnson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary,
retired from Tyson Foods; and was preceded in death by her
grandparents, William and Alice Clark, Alma Myers and Joe Stokes,
mother, Roberta Clark Stokes, and brother, Jimmy Stokes.
Survivors include her father, Lee R.
Stokes of Ozark; four sisters, Linda Miller and husband, Lyn, of
Raytown, Mo., Ann Knight of Clarksville, and Darlene Stepp and husband,
Marvin, and Patty Stokes, all of Hunt; one brother, H. R. Stokes and
wife, Marietta, of Clarksville; and five nephews and six nieces.
A memorial service was held at 10
a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the Knoxville First Baptist Church with Rev.
Richard Snyder and Rev. Amos Pledger officiating.
The body was cremated.
Arrangements were under the
direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Josephine Dahlem
Josephine Catherine Smreker Dahlem,
99, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Medical Lodge in Kansas City, Kan.
She was a native of Hartman, widow
of Augustine Dahlem, and member of Christ the King Catholic Church in
Kansas City, Kan., Altar Society, Go Getters, Senior Citizens Club, and
Nocturnal Adoration Society.
She is survived by one sister, Ida
Marie Smreker of Kent, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Earline Dahlem of
Fort Smith and Phyllis Dahlem of St. Louis, Mo.; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Mass
of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Christ the King
Church with burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan.
Linda Joyce Owens
Linda Joyce Owens, 52, of Coal Hill,
died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at her home.
She was a native of Long Island, N.
Y., retired secretary and was preceded in death by an infant brother,
Douglas Alan Britt.
Survivors include her husband, James
E. Owens of Coal Hill; one daughter, Stephanie Massey, and husband,
Kevin, of Lamar; one son, Mark Owens of Coal Hill; two stepdaughters,
Jamie Hickman and Stephanie Fox, both of Sale Creek, Tenn., parents,
Joseph Allen and Doris (Groschwitz) Britt of Trenton, Ga.; three
sisters, Yvonne Gothard and husband, Mike, and Norma Ramey and husband,
Bill, all of East Ridge, Tenn., and Beverly Guess of Rossville, Ga.;
and 11 grandchildren.

Pearline A. Martin
Pearline A. Martin, 78, of Ozone
died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at her home.
She was a native of Hardwick, Vt.,
daughter of the late Phoebe (Shedd) and Harold F. Martin Sr., 1948
graduate of Hardwick Academy, widow of Leon Hayford Jr., member of
Ozone Senior Citizens, formerly employed as a licensed practical nurse
in several hospitals as well as private nursing for the elderly, and
was preceded in death by one sister, Faustine Sholan; and two brothers,
Arnold Martin and Robert Martin Sr.
Survivors include one son, Norman
Hayford and wife, Diana, of East Barre, Vt.; one daughter, Phyllis
Dailey and husband, Lloyd, of Woodbury, VT.; one foster daughter,
Florence Keating of Colchester, Vt.; one brother, Harold Martin Jr. and
wife, Florence, of Hardwick, Vt.; six grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and
companion, Mel King of Ozone.
A graveside service will be held in
the spring.

direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home with Northern Vermont Funeral
Service of Hardwick, Vt., assisting.
