Allene Carothers
Allene Carothers, 84, of Tulsa,
Okla., formerly of Lamar, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in Tulsa, Okla.
She was a native of Lamar, daughter
of the late Elva Bernard and Zula Lois Harris Tanner, widow of Omer
Carothers, farmer, and former member of Lamar Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter,
Betty Cagle and husband, Robert, of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, David
Carothers and wife, Barbara, of Rogers; one sister, Kathelene Barns of
California; one brother, Don Tanner of Wichita, Kan.; three
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday,
Sept. 13, at Lamar Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Milam officiating.
Burial will be in Lamar Cemetery
under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 12, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Anita J. Warkentin
Anita June Frost Warkentin, 77, of
Russellville, formerly of Johnson County, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008,
at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was a daughter of the late Olen
and Lola S. Pitts Frost, widow of Richard L. Warkentin Sr., retired
employee of Tyson Foods Company, and was preceded in death by one son,
David Steuart; one sister, Loretta Kay Pledger; and one grandson, Mark
Ferguson.
She is survived by one daughter,
Ruby Steuart Morelli of Clarksville; one son, Richard L. Warkentin of
Martinez, Ga.; two grandchildren, Angela Seree Relaford of Lamar and
Zachary Warkentin; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept.
8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger
officiating. Burial was in Lone Pine Cemetery.
Family and friends served as
pallbearers.
Charley E. Joiner
Charley E. Joiner, 56, of
Clarksville died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical
Center.
A native of Clarksville, he was a
son of the late Lemoyen and Bertha Allen Joiner, graduate of
Clarksville High School, member of St. John AME Church and 239th
Engineering Company of the Clarksville National Guard for several
years, and an employee of OK Industries in Fort Smith.
He is survived by one sister, Verna
Knauls of Tulsa, Okla.; nine nephews, Franklin Bagsby, Albert Bagsby,
John Bagsby, and Richard Bagsby, all of Clarksville, Thurman Lee Knauls
of Dallas, Texas, and Charles Bray, William Alfred Bray, James Earl
Bray, and Garland Lee Bray, all of Fort Smith; and two nieces, Vida
Bagsby of Clarksville and Bertha Bell of Conway.
A memorial service was held at 10
a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. William
Hickman officiating. The body was cremated.
Pallbearers were Ray Alston, Claude
May, Mark Hilton, Earl May, Gail Mitchell Jr., Patrick May, and Allen
Ray Chenault.
Everette Wittmayer Sr.
Everette James (Blackie) Wittmayer
Sr., 74, of Clarksville died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at his home.
He was born in Hazen, N. D., son of
the late Ed Wittmayer Sr. and Vera Johnson Wittmayer, a platoon
sergeant in the United States Army, decorated veteran of the Korean
War, retired Los Angeles Police Motor officer, baliff for the Clark
County Sheriff's office in Nevada, an antique toy maker and was
preceded in death by one brother, Rae Allen Wittmayer; and two
grandsons, Larry Long and Steven Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 53
years, Norma Jo Padden Wittmayer; one daughter, Wendy Long and
companion, Steven Davis of Hartford, Conn.; two sons, Everette James
Wittmayer Jr. and wife, Rebecca, of Reno, Nev., and Tracy Jon Wittmayer
and wife, Julie, of Clarksville; four brothers, Ed Wittmayer Jr. and
wife, Annetta, of Chandler, Ariz., Harlan Wittmayer and wife,
Jeannette, of Charles City, Iowa, Ralph Wittmayer and wife, Jeannine,
of Janesville, Iowa, and Kenny Wittmayer and wife, Barbara, of Cedar
Falls, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
The family held a private memorial
in the home. The body was cremated. Arrangements were under the
direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
John Randall Miner
John Randall Miner, 29, of
Clarksville died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, from injuries sustained in a
one-vehicle accident on Highway 21 North.
He was a native of Kansas City,
Kan., former resident of Thayer, Mo., and former employee of Ozark
Mountain Wood Products in Koshkonong, Mo.
He is survived by one daughter, Lia
Miner of Texas; father, Randall Miner and wife, Gloria, of Saginaw,
Texas; mother, Lora McFadden of Thayer, Mo.; one sister, Stephanie
Harper and husband, Larry, of Louisburg, Kan.; two nieces, Samantha and
Merendi; and two nephews, Kylan and Draven.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Clary Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., after
which the body was cremated.
Raymond F. Hudson
Raymond Filmore Hudson, 88, of
Russellville died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at St. Mary's Regional Medical
Center in Russellville.
He was born in Clarksville, son of
the late Elmer L. and Laura Harvey Hudson, graduate of Clarksville High
School, Navy veteran of World War II, member of First Baptist Church of
Russellville, former member of C.C. Camp at Shiloh, and was preceded in
death by one son, Alan Greg Hudson; and one daughter, Janice Raye
Broyles.
He is survived by his wife of 66
years, Naomi Cunningham Hudson; two sisters, Mildred Blackburn of
Russellville and Ilene Jones of Odessa, Texas; one brother, E. E.
Hudson of Russellville; one grandchild, Justin Hudson and wife, Katia,
of Russellville; two great-grandchildren, Nadara and Alysta Hudson; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen
Davis and Rev. Tom Walker officiating. Burial will be in Woodland
Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Doug
Harvey, Sterling Penix, Wendell Self, Steve Self, Lindy Paul Harvey,
and Jim Harvey.
Honorary pallbearers will be the
Golden Voyagers Sunday school class.

Scott W. Talley
Scott Walton Talley, 48, of Lamar
died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle
accident on Crawford Street in Clarksville.
He was a native of Duncan, Okla.,
member of the Clarksville First United Methodist Church, the Great
Plain Emmaus, and the Arkansas Kairos Prison Ministry, employee of
River Valley Animal Foods, and was preceded in death by three children,
Rusty Talley, Cassidy Brooke Talley, and Codi Laine Talley.
Survivors include his wife, Paula
Talley; one daughter, Annie Talley of Lamar; one son, Dusty Talley of
Clarksville; two stepchildren, Brittney Young of Hartman and Allison
Nordin of Clarksville; parents, Joe and Nila Walton Talley of
Clarksville; one sister, Anita Apple and husband, Lonnie, of
Clarksville; one brother, Jon Talley and wife, Kim, of Van Buren; and
numerous nieces and nephews including Jesse Apple, Misha Brownlow,
Micah Apple, Jaden Apple, Carly Talley, Kenli Schuh and Kaci Schuh.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the First United Methodist Church in
Clarksville with Rev. David Hanshaw officiating.
Burial will be in Holman Cemetery
under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Coffee,
Grant Johnson, Kelly Loop, Craig Patterson, Mike Jacobs, Clifton
Wilkins, Troy Lewis, and Marty Houston.

William Lee Felkins
William Lee Felkins, 87, of Lodi,
Calif., died Aug. 24, 2008, at his home.
He was born in Clarksville to the
late William and Mary Felkins but moved to California in 1958, where he
was employed as a body and fender repairman until his retirement.
He
was a World War II veteran and was preceded in death by his wife of 64
years, Bertha Mae Shoeffler Felkins; two sons; Donald Felkins and
Steven Felkins; one granddaughter, Karen Strode; three brothers,
John,
Jack and Aaron Felkins; and four sisters, Bessie Rhodes, Frances
Rogers, Beatrice Clayborn and Ella Hook.
Survivors include one daughter,
Delores Ann Haze of Lodi, Calif.; two daughters-in-law of Lodi, Calif.;
eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were
Aug. 29 at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, Calif.
Memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society.
