Sue Pye
Sue Pye, 83, of London died
Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville.
She was a native of London, daughter
of the late Julius and Artie Jane Hickey Baumann, widow of Emery E.
Pye, member of Lamar Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star at
Lamar and Extension homemakers club, and was preceded in death by one
daughter, Teresa Thomas.
Survivors include two sons, Quentin
N. Pye and wife, Linda, of Weatherford, Okla., and Artis Lynn Pye and
wife, Carol, of Plainview; five grandchildren, Jason Pye of
Weatherford, Okla., Jeremy Pye and wife, Li Bai, of Gainesville, Fla.,
Matthew Pye and wife, Heidi, of Searcy, Christyl Rowland and husband,
Chris, of London, and Deanna Arivett and husband, Brock, of Nashville,
Tenn.; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Katie Baumann Whorton
of Russellville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May
31, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel with burial at East Point
Cemetery at London.
Edith N. East
Edith N. Rhett East, 69, of Prescott
Valley, Ariz., formerly of Clarksville, died May 28, 2008, in Arizona.
She is survived by her husband of 30
years, James East; one daughter, Sherry Berberich; two sons, Rickey
Matthews and Danny Matthews; one brother, Leonard Rhett of Grovespring,
Mo.; and numerous stepchildren, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday,
May 30, in Dewey, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society.
Arville Singleton
Arville Ray Singleton, 97, of the
Flat Rock Community died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at his home.
He was a native of Moreland, son of
the late Andrew and Anna Elizabeth Duvall Singleton, United States Army
veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre, peach
grower and farmer, owner and operator of Singleton Orchards at Flat
Rock, attended the Baptist and Assembly of God churches, and was
preceded in death by three brothers, Troy Singleton, Leonard Singleton
and Roy Singleton; and four sisters, Ella Mae Singleton, Della Whorton,
Kathleen Smith and an infant sister.
Survivors include one sister, Hazel
Singleton of London; seven nephews, Leonard Whorton, Jack Whorton, Don
Whorton, and Larry Whorton, all of London, Kenneth Whorton of
Knoxville, and Bob Whorton and Roy E. Singleton, both of Russellville,
one niece, Bonnie Meimerstorf of Russellville; and several great-nieces
and great-nephews.
Graveside services and burial will
be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Shiloh Cemetery at Atkins with
Rev. Ronnie Birge officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of
Humphrey Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to the charity
of the donor's choice.
Joe Kramer
Joe Kramer, 77, of Alma, a native of
Coal Hill, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at his home.
He was a son of the late Frank and
Annie Glanzman Kramer, 1948 graduate of St. Anne's Academy in Fort
Smith, U. S. Army veteran of the KoreanWar, employee of Donrey
Media
Group for 36 years in Arkansas, Indiana, Oklahoma, Nevada, and North
Dakota and was past president of the Oklahoma Press Association. He was
ordained a deacon on May 31, 1998, at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Little
Rock and served as a deacon at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Van
Buren, a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and was a
member of the board of directors for Compassionate Ministries. He was
preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Paul, Herman, Bernard and
Willie Kramer; and one sister, Margaret Royalty.
Survivors include his wife of 56
years, Elizabeth Dahlem Kramer; four children, Linda Taber and Nancy
Scherrey, both of Fort Smith, and Bob and Kanessa Kramer, both of
Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Bowling of Fort Smith and Martha
Kohler of Beloit, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Bryan and Gwen Taber, Tom
Jr. and Michael Scherrey, and Justin, McKinley and Kennedy Kramer; and
one great-grandson, Cory Henderson.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Thursday, May
29, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Van Buren where funeral mass was
recited at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, by Father Jack Vu. Burial was in
the U. S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of
Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.

Willie Smith
Willie Smith, 62, of Hartman died
Friday, May 30, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Clay County,
Kentucky, son of the late Carlo and Laney Buttrey Smith, member of
Salus Free Holiness Church and was preceded in death by twin grandsons,
Nicolas and Nathan Willis.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly
Jenkins Smith; three children and spouses, Will and Amanda Smith,
Melissa and Travis Tumbleson and Anna May and Robbie Willis; three
sisters, Rosie Mitchell, Sally Koch, and Irene Kirk; six brothers,
Eligie Smith, Roy Smith, Johnny Smith, Jerry Smith, Truman Smith, and
John Henry Smith; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June
3, at the Salus Free Holiness Church with Rev. Robert Boen officiating.
Burial was in Salus Cemetery under
the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Robert Long
Jr., Mike Wooten, Joe Wooten, Wesley Turner, Ray Holt, and Terry Turner.
Honorary pallbearer was Rick Frye.
Blanche Donelson
Blanche Donelson, 81, of Lamar died
Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late
Benjamin Franklin and Georgia Ethel Jetton Dillon, widow of Earl
Donelson, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Long and
Betty Vinson; and one brother, Raymond Dillon.
Survivors include one daughter,
Earlene Donelson of Lamar; one son, Mike Donelson of Ozone; and one
brother, Joe Dillon of Lamar.
Graveside services and burial were
at 1 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Lamar Cemetery with Rev. Larry Lasiter
officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.
Pauline King
Pauline (Polly) Parker King, 59, of
Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Hunt, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Las
Vegas, Nev.
She is a daughter of the late John
Gordon and Euticha Parker and was born in the Grenade's Chapel
Community north of Ozark. She was an interior designer specializing in
private home décor, owned and operated an interior decorating
store in
Texas prior to moving to Las Vegas, Nev., in 2000, and owned and
operated Home Décor and More in Henderson, Nev. She was preceded
in
death by two brothers, John Garner Parker and Gordon Dean Parker.
Survivors include her husband of 45
years, Phillip R. King; one daughter, Kimberly King Brimage of Las
Vegas, Nev.; one son, Gregory King of Las Vegas, Nev.; five sisters,
Locha Bea Kirkendall of Van Buren, Alfreda Covert of Altus, Geneva
Scott of Fort Smith and Alice Mae Fancher and Wanda Faye Rainey, both
of Clinton; four granddaughters, Andrea Hawkins of New Mexico,
Leslie
Peters of Texas, Tina Elizabeth King of Plano, Texas, and Karsten
Nicole Brimage of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11
a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Grenade's Chapel Church on Highway 352
north of Ozark.
Carla R. Donaldson
Carla R. Donaldson, 61, of
Clarksville died Friday, May 30, 2008, at her home.
She was a native of Clarksville,
daughter of the late James and Marie Ross Handley, graduate of
Clarksville High School and member of Landmark Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse
Donaldson; one son, Greg Donaldson and wife, Emmy, of Clarksville;
stepfather, Robert E. Handley of Clarksville; two half-sisters, Angela
Klorwein and Karen Baffour, both of Germany; one half-brother, James O.
Handley Jr. of Germany; one sister, Lisa Whorton of Clarksville; three
brothers, David Handley and Mark Handley,both of Clarksville, and
Robert L. Handley of Waldron; and two grandchildren, Jace Allen
Donaldson and Greenlee Nicole-Marie Donaldson, both of Clarksville.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, June 4, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon
Bass officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jeremy
Handley, Martin Handley, Floyd Pledger, Wesley Kendrick, Danny Leeds,
Darrell Plank, Rick Dailey, and Kenny Bridgewater.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy
Moore, Larry Jones, Johnson Henson, Leroy Warren, Larry Vanover, and
Terry Wayne Massengale.
Sharon M. Bragg
Sharon M. Bragg, 58, of Clarksville
died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late
Albert and Verna Hodges Dennis, native of Middleton, Ill., and was
preceded in death by one son, Stuie Dunn.
Survivors include her husband, David
Bragg; two daughters, Shari Lewis and Danyel Long, both of Clarksville;
two sons, Roger Dunn Jr. and Chad Dunn, both of Clarksville; four
sisters, Linda Doan of Missouri, Donna Griffin and Carla Glenn, both of
Clarksville, and Bonnie Oldham of Colorado; three brothers, Rick
Dennison and Mike Dennison, both of Arizona, and Albert Dennison of
Illinois; and 11 grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the
direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
