Belva Gayle Gregory, 87, of Clarksville died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was of the Pentecostal faith, daughter of the late George Harrison and Miranda Ellen Harris Seals, widow of Ezekiel Gregory, and was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Lyndel Cox and Dennis Steele; one daughter-in-law, Theresa Gregory; one granddaughter, Stephanie Pearson; one grandson, Lyndel Gregory Cox; three sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by five daughters, Shirley Acord and husband, Bob, of Farmington; Jean Core and husband, Dan, of Paris, Carolyn Yates and husband, Gary, of Oark, and Marilyn Pearson and husband, Steve, and Lynn Steele, all of Clarksville; three sons, Wayne Gregory and wife, Tricia, and Larry Gregory and wife, Judy, all of Clarksville, and Gary Gregory and wife, Diana, of Hunt; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Yale Church with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating.

Burial was in Yale Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Mark Yates, Matt Yates, Geoff Gregory, Brad Pearson, Eric Gregory, Jamie Gregory, Steve Boyd, and Marty Lowrey.

Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Acord, Brock Boyd, Jess Jordan, and Seth Schubarth.

Betty Morgan Hutchins, 68, of Magazine died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007.

A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late Hanford Thomas (Bo) and Marie Louise Fultz Morgan, member of Crossroads Assembly of God Church in Clarksville, and was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne and Bryan Williams.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Hutchins; three daughters, Brenda Hudson of Clarksville, and Karen Yeager and Harlene Thompson, both of Dardanelle; five sons, Mike Williams of Clarksville, and Ricky Williams, Ronnie Williams, Larry Williams, and Jack Scott, all of Magazine; one stepdaughter, Connie Adams of Fort Smith; two stepsons, Danny Hutchins of Fort Smith and Ronnie Hutchins of Lavaca; four sisters, Susie Morgan of Coal Hill, and Gladys Pelham, Debbie Marvel and Kathy King, all of Clarksville; four brothers, Junior Morgan, Gary Morgan, Jerry Morgan and Billy Morgan, all of Coal Hill; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the Jamestown Assembly of God Church with burial in Hartman Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

Family members served as pallbearers.

Burley Walter King, 91, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 18, 1916, to Walter John and Eva Johnson King, he was a grandson of a pioneer Johnson County family. He grew up in the Harmony community and was a lifelong member of Harmony Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and elder. He was a graduate of Clarksville High School and an alumnus of the College (University) of the Ozarks. He had a long-term ministry with the Ozarks Area Mission and served as a lay preacher at Spring Hill, Liberty Hill, Coal Hill, Elkins, Hopewell and Dardanelle. He conducted more than 100 funerals, some as recently as 2006, and countless decoration services throughout Johnson County.

He began his teaching career in one-room schoolhouses in Bluff Springs, Fort Douglas, Dillen and Montana before serving as teacher and superintendent of the Ozone school. He later served in the same capacity in Rondo (Lee County) and Carden Bottom (Yell County). Following his career in education, he served as Director of the Department of Human Services of Johnson, Pope and Yell counties and as Area Supervisor of several counties and a federal auditor.

He was active in the community and served as president of the Clarksville Kiwanis Club, the College (University) of the Ozarks Alumni Association and the Johnson County Boys Club and as chairman of the Johnson County Hospital Board. He was also a member of the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Board. During his tenure as president of the Kiwanis Club, the organization began the Clarksville High School athletic banquet, which has become an annual event.

A devoted Christian with an irrepressible sense of humor and a gift of gab, he loved spending time with his family, walking through town, drinking coffee with friends, learning state and local history and exploring the countryside with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved the Harmony and Lone Pine communities and enjoyed working on his farm at Lone Pine. He was the author of three books, Harmony: The Golden Years, Our Family: The Early Years, and Swinging Bridges and a Rope Ladder, which were later compiled into one volume, Memories That Bless and Burn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Billie Burnett King; two sons and daughters-in-law, Burnett and Sharon King of Clarksville and Bob and Linda King of Van Buren; one grandson, Scott King and wife Lorna of Mablevale; six granddaughters, Carol French and husband Joey of Shreveport, La., Carla Young and husband Matt of Bella Vista, Christy Collins and husband Jason of Clarksville, Laura King of Rogers, Janice Penix and husband Sterling of Clarksville, and Audrey Nowotny and husband Matt of Cedarville; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah King, John Collins, Jared King, Joshua Nowotny, Hayden Penix, Caleb Nowotny and Vin Young; one sister, Marie Nimmo of Pasadena; two nieces; and numerous other family members.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Harmony Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Burnett King, Rev. Bob King, Rev. Scott King and Rev. Tracy Julian officiating. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Scott King, Joey French, Jason Collins, Sterling Penix, Matt Nowotny and Carl Traylor.

David E. (Davy) Ogden, 42, of Carthage, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Carthage, Mo., musician, and member of the New River Ministries of Carthage, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Cochran Ogden; three sons, Kylee Joeseph Ogden, Johnathan Edward Ogden, and Ellis Faubion Ogden, all of the home; parents, David and Mary Odgen of Carthage, Mo.; one sister, Cheryl Pugh of Carthage, Mo.; two nieces and one nephew, Randi, Rachel and Walker, all of Carthage, Mo.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Wanda Cemetery south of Stella, Mo., under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.

Floyd Olan Fox, 86, of Lamar died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences of Little Rock.

He was a Windsor Door employee, baptized member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Clarksville, member of the local VFW, decorated World War II veteran and was the recipient of the Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and two Overseas Bars. He was a son of the late Cam and Annabelle Schavers Fox and was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters; and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Fox; three daughters, Gail Haggard of Grants Pass, Ore., Jeanette Deer of Elma, Wash., and Brenda Renee Fox of Russellville; one son, Floyd Alan Fox of Eugene, Ore.; numerous grandchildren including Adam Bagsby of Clarksville and Ashley Melson of Russellville; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ross Sawyer officiating.

Funeral for Fraser Streithorst, 27, of Ozark, who died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the First Assembly of God Church in Clarksville with Rev. Terry Cameron officiating. Burial was in Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Josh Brown, Austin Weeks, Todd Sanford, Chris Cameron, Jeremy Cowell and Billy Graves.

He was a Baptist and employed in heating and air.

Survivors include his wife, Kayla Renee Streithorst; one daughter, Jasmin Renee Streithorst of Ozark; one son, Bryce Andrew Townley of Ozark; parents, Hugh Ray and Phyllis Louise Breckenridge Streithorst of Ozark; two sisters, Shannon Ray Streithorst of Smithville, Texas, and Amanda Gail Streithorst of Clarksville; and one brother, William Fredrick Streithorst of Clarksville.

Hazel L. Risk, 87, of Fayetteville died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Fayetteville City Hospital.

A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Francis King Johnson, 1938 graduate of Clarksville High School, graduate of Sacramento California Junior College, widow of Oliver (Ed) Risk, former resident of Tulsa, Okla., and Michigan, spent one year as housemother of the Tri Delta Sorority at the University of Arkansas, scholar of early Christianity and the Dead Sea Scrolls, member of the Democratic party where she spent numerous hours working and supporting campaigns, and musician having taught and composed for the piano.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Ragland and husband, Jim, of Farmington Hills, Mich.; three sons, Mark Risk of Fayetteville, John Risk and wife, Annie, of Costa Mesa, Calif., and James Risk and wife, Andrea, of Farmington Hills, Mich.; 12 grandchildren, Stacy, Leslie, Craig, Jimmy, Brian and David Ragland, and Kaitlyn,  Alyssa, Kelsey, Joy, Ali and Logan Risk; and five great-grandchildren, Alex, Mallory, Beau, Jane and Davis.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Clarksville.

Cremation arrangements are by Moore's Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville. Interment will be at Mt. Airy Cemetery at Ludwig.

Hugh Dale Pitts, 60, of Clarksville died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Sherman and Erma Lee Yandell Pitts, master plumber and electrician, Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Schmatjen.

Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Hulse of Moultrie, Ga.; one son, Dale Pitts of Clarksville; one sister, Diane Kimbriel of Avoca; five brothers, Bob Pitts and Lloyd Pitts, both of Clarksville, Murl Pitts of Casa, David Pitts of Avoca, and Randy Pitts of Russellville; two grandchildren, Michael and Erin Pitts of Clarksville; and companion, Barbara George.

The body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Olice Lahoma Dixon Curfman, 97, of Subiaco, grandmother of Linda Christopher and Susan Geels, both of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007.

She was a daughter of the late Marshall and Edith Bright Dixon, widow of Marion Cecil Curfman, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Berg.

Other survivors include one grandson, Alan Berg of Scranton; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the Prairie View United Methodist Church with burial in Oakwood Cemetery at Paris. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

Randy Lynn Deforest, 48, of Lamar died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a son of the late Gordon and Freida Neeley Deforest and employed by Tyson Poultry as a certified refrigeration technician.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna Einert Deforest; one brother, Danny Ray Deforest of Toccoa, Ga.; aunt, Kathleen Melson of Clarksville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Gracie Einert Key; sister-in-law, Mary Deforest; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Clarksville with Rev. Bill Hickman officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Sam Airon Rainwater, 60, of Scranton died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007.

He was an employee of Tyson, preceded in death by his father, Airon Rainwater, and United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Chase Rainwater; one daughter, Ginger Sutliff of Subiaco; one son, Joseph Rainwater of Fort Smith; mother, Arneda Cauldwell Rainwater of Scranton; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Allen of Clarksville; three stepsons, Richard Parry of Troy, Mich., Michael Parry of Shelby Township, Mich., and Joshua Hammond of Clarksville; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial in Prairie View Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Joe Rainwater, Richard Parry, Michael Parry, Joshua Hammond, Steve Shepherd, and Larry Shepherd.

Vivian Bernice Brandon, 80, of Russellville died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Stella Manor Nursing Center.

She was born at London, daughter of the late Clyde L. and Chloe Whorton Vinson, stepdaughter of Janie Sims Vinson, widow of Clarence M. Brandon, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Mabel Brandon; and one son, Clarence Edward Brandon.

Survivors include one daughter, Vivian M. Brandon of London; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joyce Hazlett and Patsy and Glen Brown, all of London.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Arlin Elmore and Rev. Claude Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Price Cemetery near London.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Brown, Kenneth, James, Nathan and Justin Brandon, and Robert Hampton.

Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Stella Manor Nursing Center.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at Shinn Funeral Home.

William Frank Gabler, 74, of Clarksville died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.

He was a native of Topeka, Kan., son of the late Clyde William and Helen Lenora Drayer Gabler, Episcopalian, 1951 graduate of Topeka (Kansas) High School, graduate of St. Alba's Technical Seminary, Navy veteran of the Korean War, volunteer for the Veterans Administration where he served as a van driver from Russellville once a week, volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts, and numerous other organizations,  pilot, and chairman of Clarksville Airport Commission.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Wagner Gabler; one daughter, Cathy Gabler of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Jim Gabler and David Gabler, both of San Antonio, Texas; and Paul Gabler of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Beva Bergstrom of Muskogee, Okla.; two brothers, Bob Gabler and Don Gabler, both of Topeka, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of his life will be held at his home with family members.

The body was cremated.
