Charles Roy Crooks, 69, of Ozark, father of Randel Crooks of
Clarksville, died Monday, July 3, 2006, in Ozark.
He was a retired Whirlpool Corporation employee, Army veteran, member
of Liberty Baptist Church at Hunt, and was preceded in death by one
son, Dennis Crooks; two sisters, Mildred Taylor and Lillian Nolan; and
two brothers, Ray Crooks and George Crooks.
He is survived by one daughter, Rosie Crooks of Ozark; one other son,
Tracy Crooks of Ozark; three sisters, Edith Crooks of Russellville and
Wilma West and Irma Thronebury, both of Ozark; and four grandchildren,
Brittney Crooks, Gage Crooks, Logan Crooks and Lauren Schluterman.
Clarence Gene Hardin, 73, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Burr and Dessie Hill Harden, member of
Crossroads Assembly of God Church, construction foreman, packing house
employee, mechanic, and was preceded in death by one son, Ron Hardin;
one brother, Kenneth Harden; two brothers-in-law, Charles Dickerson and
Howard Pelts; and two infant twin great-grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Cowan Hardin; four daughters,
Jeannett Willis and husband, George, of Batson, Margaret Hardin of
Muskogee, Okla., P. J. Skaggs and husband, Tim, of Ozark, and Kay
Breedlove and husband, Tom, of Oark; two sons, Billy Hardin and wife,
Beverly, and Lonnie Hardin, all of Clarksville; three brothers, Calvin
Harden and wife, Merisue, of Texas, Luther Hardin and wife, Juanita, of
Ozark, and Glen Harden and wife, Bonnie, of the Pleasant View
Community; six sisters, Molly Dickerson of Clarksville, Velma Stone and
husband, Noble, of Dodge City, Kan., Lois Brown and husband, Dellis, of
Harrison, Leann Pelts of Lamar, and Bernice Cowell and husband, Donnie,
of the Low Gap Community; one sister-in-law, Pat Harden of Clarksville;
18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Grenade's Chapel
Church with Rev. Tommy Parker officiating.
Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery at Ozark under the direction of
Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Randy Cowell, Dustin James, and Clyde Cowan.

Eveylene Alderson Chronister of Lamar, died July 1, 2006, at her home.
She was born to James Roy Alderson and his wife, Ollie Frances Clark,
on August 25, 1935, in Johnson County, Arkansas, proceeded in death by
her first husband, William Ralph Owens.
She attended Denny, Lutherville and Lamar Schools. She was a retired
Food Service worker and manager, a former long time employee of O.K.
Food Market in Clarksville, a member of Mt. Home Free Will Baptist
Church and Ladies auxiliary, a loving and devoted wife, mother and
friend, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, a lover of gospel
music, an active member in the local senior Citizens Center, and
co-founded the Clark family reunion. She will be remembered for her
infectious laughter and loving heart.
She is survived by her husband, E. O. (Buck) Chronister; her daughter,
Sandra Kay Verdier and husband, Rod, of Williams, Calif.; her son, Gary
Ralph Owens of Dardanelle; daughter-in-law, Donna Owens of Dover;
sisters and spouses, Hettie and Richard Johnson of Clarksville,
Margaret and Bill Childers of Van Buren, and her twin, Evadene Hollis
of Clarksville; brothers and spouse, Lee and Vanita Alderson of
Hagarville, James Floyd (Son) Alderson of Lutherville and Raymond Clark
(Buck) Alderson of Lutherville; two stepdaughters and spouse, Debbie
Blackard of Lamar and Teri and Tom Werner of Russellville; two stepsons
and spouses, Larry and Carol Chronister of Lamar and Evan and Kelly
Chronister of Breinigsville, Pa.; grandchildren, Sarah Wagoner, Kendall
and Laura Werner, Gabrielle and E. J. Chronister, Heather and R. J.
Verdier, Bryan Owens and Gary Owens of Westwood, Calif., Candy Lucido
and husband, Steve, of Antioch, Calif., Amber Parham and husband,
Thomas, of Minnow Creek, Misty Lumpkins and husband, Douglas, of
Russellville; great-grandchildren, Devon Lumpkins, Liam Parham, and
Joey, Stephen, Tony and Frankie Lucido; and a large extended family and
uncountable friends.
Edna Marie Morrow, 80, of Hunt died Friday, July 7, 2006, at
Clarksville Convalescent Home.
A native of Hunt, she was a daughter of the late Loyd and Emma Swofford
Jones, widow of John Wesley Morrow Sr., Baptist, and was preceded in
death by one son, Fred Morrow; three brothers, Curtis, Horace and J. T.
Jones; and three grandchildren, Fred and Sidney Morrow and Chris Keith.
She is survived by five daughters, Shirley Walton Lockard and Irene
Kelly, both of Hartman, Ruth Ledbetter and Janet Downen, both of Hunt,
and Gail Warren of Scranton; seven sons, John Wesley (Bud) Morrow Jr.,
Roy Morrow, and Larry Morrow, all of Hunt, Bobby Morrow of Louisiana,
Eddie Don Morrow of Hartman, Jimmy Morrow of Miami, Okla.; and Teddy
Morrow of Knoxville; one sister, Ruth Timmerman of Hunt; two brothers,
Vernon Jones and Wayne Jones, both of Hunt; 34 grandchildren and
several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Liberty Hill Church with
Rev. Raymond Kelly officiating.
Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery at Hunt under the direction of
Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Fred Cowell, 96, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at his home.
He was a retired timber employee, son of the late J. A. and Mary
Elizabeth Johnston Cowell, attended the Clarksville First Assembly of
God Church, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Cowell.
Survivors include his wife, Leota Dollar Cowell; four daughters,
Albertine Reddell and husband, Chester, Ina Davidson and husband, Ray,
and Lanell Laster and husband, Raymond, all of Van Buren, and Mary
Laugwitz and husband, John, of Clarksville; four sons, Fred H. Cowell
and wife, Faye, Gerald Cowell and wife, Diane, and Jerry Ray Cowell and
wife, Marilyn, all of Clarksville, and Don C. Cowell and wife, Cheryl,
of Lamar; two stepdaughters, Shirley Chavez of Texas, and Jean Henson
and husband, Paul, of Kansas; one stepson, Sam Henderson and wife,
Ginger, of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the First Assembly of
God Church in Clarksville with Rev. Dade Kindrix and Rev. Terry Cameron
officiating.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.

Fannie Robbie Green, 98, of North Little Rock died Friday, July 7, 2006.
She was born in Clarksville to Walter and Willie Shamblin Temple,
taught school in Johnson County for several years, was an employee of
J. C. Penney after moving to North Little Rock, and was preceded in
death by her husband, Robert Green Sr.
She is survived by two daughters, Meredith Prince and Glena Criner and
husband, Tommy, all of North Little Rock; one son, Robert Green and
wife, Ann, of Little Rock; one sister, Edyth Geisler of Clarksville;
five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Gerald Stewart Dipietro, 26, of Dothan, Ala., died Saturday, July 8,
2006, at Flowers Hospital.
He was a native of Sicily, Italy, former resident of Clarksville, and a
Werner Trucking Company employee.
Survivors include his wife, Heather Michelle Dipietro; mother and
stepfather, Vivian and David Koch of Clarksville; father, Mario
Dipietro of Italy; two brothers, Andrea Dipietro of Italy and Kenny
Koch of Clarksville; two sisters, Giuliana Dipietro of Italy and
Nichole Koch of Clarksville; grandparents, Eleonoriea Elliott and Ken
Elliott, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Marie Dipietro of Italy; uncle, David
Elliott of Italy; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lisa and Tom
Etchberger of Dothan, Ala.; aunt, Alandra Elliott of Cleveland, Ohio;
brothers-in-law, Shawn Johnson of Dothan, Ala., Kristopher Pierpont of
Russellville, and Nobel Etchberger and Quyinten Etchberger, both of
Dothan, Ala.; and grandparents-in-law, Tom and Doris Etchberger of
Dothan, Ala.
James Everett Higby, 76, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, in Antlers, Okla.
He was a native of the Hickeytown Community, son of the late James
Martin and Edith Mae Blackard Higby, and was preceded in death by his
wife, Geneva (Tommie) Estell Higby; one brother, Ervin Leon Higby; and
one sister, Clemma Jo Higby.
He is survived by six children, Gwenda Faye Higby and James Ray Higby,
both of Lamar, Jimmie Sue Harmon and Deborah LaJoy Wyles, both of
Clarksville, Jamie Diann Romos of Pueblo, Colo., and Sonya Kay Carlton
of Newalla, Okla.; four brothers, Rhuel Douglas Higby, David Kenneth
Higby, George Allen Higby, and Robert Earl Higby; one sister, Vonda Mae
Lamb; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and personal close
friend, Bonnie Clifton.
Jerry Edwin Willis, 56, of Russell, Kan., died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at
the Russell Regional Hospital. Jerry was born May 25, 1950 in Altus,
Arkansas the son of Ed and Lucille (Martin) Willis. He grew up and
attended schools in Clarksville, Arkansas and Timber Ridge, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Catoosa High School with the class of 1968. He was
united in marriage to Ruth Terrell on November 22, 1969 in Salina,
Kansas. Jerry served his country in the U. S. Army. He was with the
173rd Airborne Division in Vietnam.
Jerry worked for the Allied Cementing Company when he first moved to
the Russell area in 1973. In 1987 he became the owner and operator of
Jerry's Place. Then in 1995 he sold the restaurant and moved to
Clarksville, Arkansas where he started JW Trucking. He retired from the
trucking business in 2001 and Ruth and he returned to the Russell area.
Jerry was a life member and Past Commander of the V.F.W. in 1994. He
also was a member of the Masonic Shrine of Russell. He enjoyed fishing
and watching all types of sports. Jerry was known for his great sense
of humor.
Surviving family includes his wife of 36 years, Ruth of the home;
daughter, Amy Dollison and husband, Bill, and their two children,
Bailey and Cody, all of Russell; parents, Ed and Lucille Willis of
Knoxville, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Sylvia Newton and husband, Richard,
of Russell; sisters, Marilyn Atchison of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and
Janace Doughan of Gore, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by a daughter, Audra Lyn Willis.
