Brenda Faye Howell, 47, of Fort Smith, formerly of Clarksville, died
Friday, April 1, 2005, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late William H. and Betty Jean Brown Carter
and of the Assembly of God faith.
She is survived by one son, Brian Allen Carter of Robertsville, Mo.;
two sisters, Jeanie Pitcher of Fort Smith and Mary Hendrickson of
Robertsville, Mo.; and two brothers, William C. Carter of Tulsa, Okla.,
and Roger P. Carter of Bossier City, La.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Lamar Cemetery.
Billy Joe Ballard Henderson, 43, of Clarksville died Thursday, March
31, 2005, in Clarksville.
He was a cosmetologist and son of the late Joseph Howard and Flossie
Marie Robinson Henderson.
Survivors include six sisters and five brothers-in-law, June and
Charlie Brown of Jacksonville, Tammy and Gene Ray of Gallatin, Tenn.,
Leann and Phil Stephenson of Del City, Okla., Joann Wheeler of
Clarksville, Bonita and Ricky Vaughn of Oark, and Bonnie and Nick Greco
of Cincinnatti, Ohio; aunt, Lucy Vanover of Clarksville; numerous
nieces and nephews; and companion, David Simmons of Clarksville.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Oark
Baptist Church with Rev. George Farquhar officiating.
Burial was in Oark Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral
Home.
Glen Allen Oakes, 74, of Lamar died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at his home.
He was a son of the late John Henry and Vilena May Gates Oakes, retired
from the U. S. Navy, licensed maintenance employee, minister and member
of the Church of God Holiness.
Survivors include his wife, Fern Jensen Oakes; one daughter, Carolyn
Ewing of Lamar; two sons, John Oakes of Garfield and Ron Oakes of
Cullman, Ala.; two sisters, Lavina Daniel and Wilma Jean Brown, both of
Ottawa, Kan.; two brothers, Joe Oakes and Roger Oakes, both of Ottawa,
Kan.; and two grandchildren, Sinnaman Oakes and Jennifer Ewing.
Ira Dale Mitchell, 88, of Ozark died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at
Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
He was employed in construction by the Corps of Engineers for 38 years,
member of the First Christian Church in Ozark, son of the late Ira D.
and Luella Woods Mitchell, and was a member of the cattlemen's
association and the fair board in addition to being instrumental in the
construction of the fair building.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Foster Mitchell; three daughters,
Carylon Dover of Dover, Mary Lou Douglas of Mountain Home, and Paulette
Gage of Duncanville; two stepsons, Marshall Gaines of Ozark and Ray
Gaines of Lavaca; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel
in Ozark with Rev. Ron Newberry officiating. Graveside services and
burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Baxter Memorial Gardens in
Mountain Home with Rev. Gene McCoy officiating.
Active pallbearers were Wayne Bradley, Chuck Gage, Terry Dover, Timmy
Dover, Toby Dover, and Allen Bradley.
Honorary pallbearers were T. J. Dover, Bryan Douglas, Leon Gage, Norman
Powell, and Byron Lasiter.

Jim O' Lee Jennings Clair, 80, of Altus died Friday, April 1, 2005, at
Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Slick, Okla., daughter of Lloyd Harold and Vera English
Jennings, Baptist, retired Singer Company employee, and was preceded in
death by two daughters, Sarah Jane Hobby and Mary Kathleen Jennings.
Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Noffsinger, Mary Brown and
Judy Qualls, all of Clarksville; three sons, Kenneth Shrum of Dyer,
James Shrum of Waldron, and William Robert Clair of Clarksville; two
sisters, Lamoine Gragg of Altus and Joanna Bartlett of Ozark; two
brothers, Harold Jennings and Cecil Jennings, both of Altus; 12
grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Nichols Chapel Cemetery at Altus with Rev. Bobby Jack Covert officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Jack Fowler, 83, of Hartman died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at the Ozark
Nursing Home.
A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Joe Ab and Polly
Evelyn Winters Fowler, graduate of Hartman High School, Marine veteran
of World War II, retired coal miner, and member of Springhill Masonic
Lodge No. 118 at Hartman and the Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Bivins Fowler; one daughter, Jackie Ann
Whitson of South Carolina; two sons, Mike Fowler and Joe Fowler, both
of Hartman; one sister, Lorene Brooks of Hartman; one brother, Bob
Fowler of Hartman; five grandchildren, Jeremy Fowler of Russellville,
Donna Rivera of Clarksville, Jaye Henderson of Tampa, Fla., Megan
Babson of Hartman, and Heather Fowler of Ozark; and two
great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with
Rev. Steve Sawrie officiating. Burial was in West Mount Zion Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Michael Joe Fowler, Tom Fowler, Mike Wilson,
Ben Alfred Hardgrave, Jack Elrod, and Ben Jarred Hardgrave.
Richard N. (Lobster) Vosburg, 41, of Scranton died Thursday, March 24,
2005, at his home.
A native of Hornell, N. Y., he was employed in maintenance at Arkansas
River Valley By-Products and as a broiler operator.
Survivors include his parents, William and Viola Vosburg of Coal Hill
and Roxanne Waight of Almond, N. Y.; and two brothers, Harold Vosburg
of Hornell, N. Y., and Mark Vosburg of Dracut, Mass.
