Doc Clayborn, 80, of Lamar died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at his home.
He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Joe and Daisey
WoodsClayborn, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Jessel
Clayborn,Kenneth (Hoopie) Clayborn and Henry (Rod) Clayborn; and one
sister,Emma Gadis.
He is survived by one brother, Dickie Clayborn of Lamar;
twosisters-in-law, Shirley Clayborn of Knoxville and Jewell Clayborn
ofClarksville; and several nieces and nephews including Dwain Reynolds
of Lamar , whom he raised.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Hardwicke FuneralChapel
with Rev. Thomas Chenowith officiating. Burial will be in LamarCemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Campbell, David Clayborn, Kevin Reynolds,
DarinReynolds, James Childers, and Ronnie Chavers.
Word has been received of the death of Felix R. Michell, 81, of
LasVegas, Nev., on Nov. 10, 2004.
A native of Clarksville, he was retired after a 31-year career in
theU. S. Army during which he served in World War II and the Korean
War.In 1978, he moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where he was employed as
aprogram engineer for EG&G for 21 years prior to retiring in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Addy Michell; one
daughter,Barbara Griffin of North Carolina; one son, Stephen Michell of
Phoenix,Ariz.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Frances Rogers, 98, of Hartman died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at
JohnsonRegional Medical Center.
A native of Dillen, she was a daughter of the late William and
MaryEliza Nordin Felkins, widow of John R. Rogers, joined the
SpadraMethodist Church in 1932 where she served as secretary-treasurer
for 38years and a Sunday school teacher for many years, member of the
SpadraQuilters since their beginning in the late 1940s, and was
preceded indeath by one daughter, Freida M. Nokes; three brothers,
John, Jack and Aaron Felkins; and two sisters, Ella Hook and Bessie
Rhodes.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lee and Tom York
of Hartman; one sister, Beatrice Clayborn of Clarksville; one brother,
Lee Felkins of Lodi, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Laura Felkins of
Rockford,Ill.; six grandchildren, David Nokes Jr. and wife, Bev, of
Battlefield,Mo., John T. York and wife, Gayle, of Overland Park, Kan.,
R. MichaelYork and wife, Jo Ann, of Rogers, Stephen L. York and Angie
of Lenexa,Kan., Tamara Wilson of Freemont Hills, Mo., and Deborah
Whitaker andhusband, Mark, of Brookline, Mo.; 12 great-grandchildren;
and numerousnieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Spadra Methodist
Churchwith Rev. Paul Draper officiating.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
FuneralHome.

Greta Gail Sosebee, 52, of Caulksville died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005,
ather home.
She was a native of Altus, daughter of the late Relus Sosebee, had
amaster's degree, was a retired school teacher having taught
atClarksville, County Line, and Elaine, member of Corinth Baptist
Churchand taught Sunday school and music.
Survivors include her mother, Joan Hurst Sosebee; two sisters,
JoEttaHawkins of Ratcliff and Patti Alexander of Springdale; one niece;
andthree nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Shaffer Funeral Home
Chapelin Ozark with burial in the Hess Cemetery at Coal Hill.

Hester Fay Carpenter, 81, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Feb. 9,
2005,at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of El Dorado and daughter of the late John Paul
andVester Perdew.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra King of Scranton; two
sons,Harley Carpenter and Allen Carpenter, both of Clarksville;
ninegrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
Leila Irene Gay, age 87, went somewhere over the rainbow on
Thursday,Feb. 10, 2005.
She was the daughter of the late Sam and Edna Flippo Evans and
thewidow of Thomas W. Gay Sr., the love of her life for forty-eight and
ahalf years.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tommy
andSherry Gay of Buda, Texas, Dean and Carolyn Gay of Stone Hill Road
nearClarksville, AR and Michael Gay of the home, also on Stone Hill
Road;five grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; nine
great-grandchildren;and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Ray Evans.
She was a member of the Rebekah lodge affiliated with the
IndependentOrder of Odd Fellows, having joined the Order in 1947 in
Texas. She waspast president of the Rebekah Assembly of Arkansas having
served theyear of 1983-1984. Her emblem was the Rainbow, her traveling
emblem asmile, her friends thought of her as the "Rainbow Lady." She
was amember of Harmony Presbyterian Church having transferred in 1981
fromHighland United Methodist Church, Odessa, Texas.
Funeral services were at Harmony Presbyterian Church at 2:30
p.m.Monday, Feb. 14, with Rev. Jimmy Thames officiating and a poem read
byAnn Pfeifler.
Burial was in Woodland Cemetery on Woodland Road, Johnson
County,Arkansas.
Justin James, 87, of Clarksville died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at
hishome.
A native of Mobley, he was a son of the late John W. and Sarah
RawlingsJames, former city councilman for the city of Clarksville
from1967-1970, a Democratic committeeman of Johnson County, member
ofJohnson County Fox Hunters Association, and former baseball coach
forGalloway Lumber Company baseball team.
Survivors include his widow, Fay Hardgrave James; two sons
anddaughters-in-law, Billy and Brenda James of Hartman and Bobby
andGlenna James of Clarksville; one brother, Earl James of Cave City;
andthree grandchildren, Todd James of Hartman, Eric James of
Dardanelle,and Dr. Meredith James of New Haven, Conn.

Jewell E. Pokorney, 92, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005,
atClarksville Convalescent Home.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late H. E. and
OraFerguson Ruppert, graduate of Clarksville High School and Fort
SmithBusiness College, and a retired legal secretary.
She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, H. E. and
GladysRuppert of Baton Rouge, La.; one daughter-in-law, Marianne
Lowthorp ofColumbus, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Ruppert of
Clarksville; threegrandchildren, Dianne Masciovecchio and Kenneth J.
Lowthorp, both ofColumbus, Ga., and Shirley Adkins of Hamilton, Ga.;
and several niecesand nephews.
The body was donated to the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences.
Loissie Mae Wood, 74, of Wesley died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at
herhome.
She was a native of Moonhull, daughter of the late Jasper and
ElizabethKimball Melson, widow of Claude David Wood, member of Richland
BaptistChurch, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Kay
Wood.

She was a restaurant owner, waitress, seamstress, Catholic, daughter
ofthe late John Peter and Mary McEachin Ahrendes, widow of
EarlVanderhoof, and was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Ahrendes.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jerry
Turnerof Clarksville; one brother, Archie Ahrendes of California;
twograndchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ruth Rosa Juanes, three-month-old daughter of Jose and Ruth Juanes
ofClarksville, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Arkansas
Children'sHospital in Little Rock.
She was born in Clarksville and was preceded in death by a
grandmother,Maria Rosa Juanes.
Other survivors include grandparents, Narciso Juanes of Clarksville

A native of the Jamestown Community, she was a daughter of the

HighSchool, and attended the Strawberry Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Verlon Graves; two
daughters,Sue Taylor of Tulsa, Okla., and Karen Pittman of Sand
Springs, Okla.;three sons, John Graves of Tulsa, Okla., David Graves of
Avant, Okla.,and Michael Graves of Sand Springs, Okla.; three sisters,
