Helen Mae Terry, 84, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Margaret Gill Johnson,
widow of Loyd Vernon Terry, retired beautician, Baptist, and was
preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Wise, Dorothy Clifton and
Flora Johnson; and four brothers, Bill Johnson, Roy Johnson, Vonney
Johnson, and Claude Johnson.
She is survived by four daughters, Judy Conrad of Missouri, Jan Eikel
and Vicki Brown, both of Clarksville, and Barbara Miller of Missouri;
several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Bob Oden officiating. Burial was in Knoxville Cemetery.
Joseph Joe Edward Oles Sr., 76, of Clarksville died Sunday, Aug. 22,
2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Fred L. and Ruby Josephine Temple Oles and a
truck driver and strip pit employee.
Survivors include his widow, Geraldine Clark Oles; one son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Edward (Helen) Oles Jr. of
Clarksville; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Roller-Cox Chapel with
Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in West Mount Zion
Cemetery.
Jewell Lucille Yates, 83, of Coal Hill died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at
Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
She was a member of the Coal Hill First Baptist Church, Lady's
Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and AARP, daughter of the late
Ebb and Thelma Strickland Ogden, widow of Eulice Yates, and was
preceded in death by two brothers, Ewell Ogden and Herbert Wayne Ogden.
She is survived by three sisters, Gladys Scott of Monticello and Louise
Cromer and Jean Hall, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, J. B.
Ogden of Wagoner, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Coal Hill First
Baptist Church with burial in Coal Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are
under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Kitty Lynn Crowder, 54, of Lamar died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at her
home.
She was a daughter of the late John Percy and Montora Zeddy Dinkins,
member of the Strawberry Assembly of God Church, shipping clerk at
Wal-Mart Distribution Center, and was preceded in death by her
father-in-law and mother-in-law, C. W. and Dorothy Crowder; and one
sister, Henrietta Lea.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Crowder; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Lona and Warren Rhodes of Lamar and Lori and Brent
Caldwell of the Flat Rock Community; one sister, Carolyn Richmond of
Bradley; three brothers, John Dinkins of Colum-
bia, Tenn., Edward Dinkins of Plain Dealing, La., and Bruce Dinkins of
Serepta, La.; and three grandchildren, Libby Caldwell, Ridge Rhodes and
Trace Caldwell.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at the Strawberry Assembly of
God Church with Rev. George Willis officiating.
Burial was in Hagarville Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Bob Newman, Ben Smith, Gene MaCalik, Richard
Pelts, William Graves, and Doyle Farmer.
Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Warren, Morgan Smith, Allen Hammonds,

Letta Mae Holt, 67, of Lamar died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Sikeston, Mo., daughter of the late Burris and
Violet Westmoland Ward, member of Mount Vernon Community Church,
retired certified nurses aide, and was preceded in death by three
brothers, Kenneth, Mouser and Gary Ward; and two sisters, Georgia
Cooper and Barbar Culpepper.
Survivors include her husband, Leon Holt; one daughter and son-in-law,
Kathy and Danny Clayborn of Lamar; two sons and one daughter-in-law,
Randy and Pennie Holt of Clarksville and Mike Holt of the home; two
sisters, Brenda Cochran and Dorothy Thompson, both of Sikeston, Mo.;
two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wendell and Carol Ward of Kansas City,
Mo., and C. B. and Margaret Ward of Florida; one brother-in-law, Billy
Culpepper of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; six grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Mount Vernon Community
Church with Rev. Bill Holt officiating.
Burial was in Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral
Home.

Roy Lawrence Elkins, 61, of Clarksville died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Cass, son of the late Roy Eber Elkins, graduate of
Clarksville High School, attended Letourneau College in Longview,
Texas, retired member of the Clarksville Fire Department, and an
employee of Peach Valley Propane Gas Company for several years prior to
being employed by Synergy Gas Company for 34 years where he was
district manager for Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Survivors include his widow, Elaine Dasher Elkins; one daughter and
son-in-law, Edie and Billy Stone of Hagarville; one son and
daughter-in-law, Ethan and Yvonne Elkins of Alameda, Calif.; mother,
Bea Elkins of Clarksville; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and John
Patterson of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Eli Stone, Preston
Stone, and Kaitlyn Elkins; and three stepgrandchildren, Brian Thaxton,
Zachary Turner, and Megan Turner.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Hardwicke
Funeral Chapel with Rev. Burnett King and Lonnie Turner officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Ricky Hunt, Jim Dow, Aubrey Yount, Billy
Stone, Russell Kuyker, John Patterson, Kenneth Coffee, Kenny Elkins and
Harold Hyden.
Honorary pallbearers will be members and retired members of the
Clarksville Fire Department.
