Burl Grace, 76, of Van Buren died Friday, July 25, 2003.
A native of Lamar, he was a retired diesel mechanic, Protestant, and
Navy veteran.
He is survived by one stepson, Ronald Duvall of California; twp sisters,
Darlene Moon of Fort Smith and Susan Hubbard of Bentonville; and six brothers,
Ralph C. Grace of Van Buren, John D. Grace of Fort Smith, Clarence Grace of
Palmdale, Calif., James Grace of Ozark, Argus Grace of Bentonville, and Albert
Grace Jr. of Lowell.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Lewis Funeral Chapel with
burial in the U. S. National Cemetery at Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Dustin Shipman, Clifford Shipman, Travis Moon, Allen
Grace, Randy Jones, Tommy Grace, Brent Sampley, and Keith Sampley.
Chiquita L. Sills, 79, of Benton died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Saline
Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton, artist,
former typesetter for Jones Printing, former coordinator for the Saline County
Literacy Council, and a member of the National Poets Society and the Poets
Roundtable. She was a daughter of the late William and Annie Virginia Cook
Anderson and the widow of Charles Monroe Oliver and William Wilson Sills.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carlos William (Tony)
and Phyllis Oliver of Clarksville and Jose Deshon Oliver of Benton; five
grandchildren, Casa Paul Oliver of Benton, Tonya Ann Holben of Lamar, Tanya
Ladon Carlton of Clarksville, Terri Lynn Sisco of Altus, Okla., and Heaven
Anticlea Oliver of Wayne, Pa.; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the
Mt. Vernon Cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were
under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Saline County Humane Society in Benton.
Edith M. Weathers, 90, of Coal Hill died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at
her home.
She was a native of Denning, daughter of the late Robert A. and Verta
Dixon Weathers, widow of Charles E. Weathers, lifelong member of Coal Hill
Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlene Luebke;
and one grandson, Robert Weathers.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Burke of Coal Hill; two sons, Marvin
Weathers and Bob Weathers, both of Coal Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Gerald Morris officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerrod Blockburger, Joe Smith, Bill Luebke, Dustin
Luebke, Mike Luebke, Harold Weathers, Gary Weathers, Steve Weathers, and
Darrell Weathers.

Joyce A. Ragsdale, 51, of Lamar died Thursday, July 24, at Johnson Regional
Medical Center.
She was retired, daughter of the late Shirley Lee Pitts Metzger, and
was preceded in death by one brother, William Cleo Metzger.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Ragsdale; one son, Michael Wayne
Griffin of Lamar; father and stepmother Robert E. and Virgina Metzger of
Knoxville; two sisters, Barbara Jean Wright of Arizona and Lavina Bethany
Metzger of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Robert Lee Metzger of Nevada and Thomas
Edward Metzger of Arizona; and five grandchildren.
Mary E. Domerese, 62, of Clarksville died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Robert and Grace
Griffith Pelts, and Pentecostal.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Henry Dane Domerese
Jr. and David Allen and Sharon Domerese, all of Coal Hill; two stepsons, Marvin
Domerese and Edward Domerese, both of Coal Hill; one sister and brother-in-law,
Linda Sue and Hiarm Stone of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the Free Jesus Name Church
in Coal Hill with Rev. David Zeiler officiating.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral
Home.

Nell Ruth Owens, 72, of Sacramento, Calif., died Tuesday, July 8, 2003.
She was a former resident of Johnson County, daughter of the late Vaughn
and Virga Patton Wimmer of Lamar, widow of Mason Owens, and was preceded in
death by one sister, Marilyn Young of Coal Hill.
Survivors include one daughter, Verna Caruthers of Hohenwald, Tenn.; one
grandson, William Caruthers of Spokane, Wash.; five great-grandchildren; four
sisters, Lorene Lemons of Lamar, Linda Collins of Hunt, Betty Palmer of Puyallup,
Wash., and Lela Potter of Tacoma, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Velma Ilene Mayfield Woodson, 68, of Oark died Wednesday, July 23, 2003,
in Louisville, Ky.
A daughter of the late Walter and Belva Stewart Mayfield, she was preceded
in death by one brother, Delmer Mayfield.
Survivors include her husband, Obert F. Woodson; two daughters and sons-in-law,
Sandra and Melvin Hairrell of Texas and Dawn and Richard Clover of Kentucky;
four sisters, Thelma King, Zelma Pruitt, Belma Clark and Melba Schindo, all
of California; two brothers, Elmer Mayfield of Arkansas and Walter Mayfield
of California; and five grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Mike Shields officiating. Burial was in the Batson Cemetery.
